This paper provided a two-phase multi-warehouse and multi-task based algorithm which has two phases. In the first phase, it combines sweep algorithm, saving algorithm and virtual task point to present a method. And in the second phase it provides an algorithm for the arrangement of goods loading which is based on the constraints of time-window and attributes of goods and vehicle. It uses the computing results of the first phase to form more detailed delivery scheme based on the constraints of time-window and attributes of vehicle and goods.展开更多

Application of ITS can i...Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) integrates information and communication technologies with location based technologies into roads, vehicles, traffic and transport management systems. Application of ITS can improve situation in major cities where due to the increasing number of residents and level of motorization traffic congestion represents important issue. Another problem arises from this facts and that is that cities have contradictory needs as grooving need for goods within urban areas as well as need for less vehicles in the same area. The urban logistics activities by private companies within urban areas represent an integral part of city logistics that aims to improve the efficiency of urban freight transportation, reduce traffic congestion, mitigate environmental impacts, reduce costs and fuel consumption. This research presents application of ITS technologies and vehicle routing problem for night delivery scheme planning as one of the core techniques for modelling city logistics.展开更多

In this problem, there is delivery or pickup (or both) and uncertain features in the demands of the clients. The deliveries of every client as uncertain parameters are expressed as triangular fuzzy numbers. In order to describe MVRPRL, a multi-objective fuzzy programming model with credibility measure theory is constructed. Then the simulationbased tabu search algorithm combining inter-route and intra-route neighborhoods and embedded restarts are designed to solve it. Computational results show that the tabu search algorithm developed is superior to sweep algorithms and that compared with handling each on separate routes, the transportation costs can be reduced by 43% through combining pickups with deliveries.展开更多
This study examined the non-medical factors that influence expectant mothers to opt for caesarean deliveries in Ghana. Data on 395 expectant mothers across the ten regions of Ghana who were located in urban, semi-rura...This study examined the non-medical factors that influence expectant mothers to opt for caesarean deliveries in Ghana. Data on 395 expectant mothers across the ten regions of Ghana who were located in urban, semi-rural and rural areas, and spanned a period of five years (from 2012 to 2016) were obtained from the Ghana Health Service. In fitting the logistic regression model, data on 355 expectant mothers (i.e. 89.9% of the data) was assigned to the analysis sample while 40 (i.e. 10.1%) was assigned to the hold-out sample. The hold-out sample together with other statistical measures of overall model fit, pseudo R2 measures and classification accuracy were used to validate the results obtained from the analysis sample. Significance was tested at p = 0.05. Determinants including, educational level of expectant mother, parity of expectant mother, baby’s birth weight, previous caesarean delivery, location of expectant mother, age of expectant mother and, period within the year of childbirth had a significant effect on caesarean delivery. The study recommended that health practitioners should be able to foretell expectant mothers who are likely to undergo caesarean delivery in order for them to prepare financially and psychologically to avoid further complications. Due to the significant positive attitude of women towards caesarean delivery rather than normal delivery, it is necessary to inform them about the advantages of normal delivery and the health hazards associated with caesarean delivery to the mother and child.展开更多

The e-commerce industry has experienced significant growth in the past decade,particu-larly post-COVID.To accommodate such growth,the parcel delivery sector has also grown rapidly.However,there is a lack of study that...The e-commerce industry has experienced significant growth in the past decade,particu-larly post-COVID.To accommodate such growth,the parcel delivery sector has also grown rapidly.However,there is a lack of study that properly evaluates its social and environ-mental impacts at a large scale.A model is proposed to analyze such impacts.A parcel gen-eration process is presented to convert public data into parcel volumes and stops.A continuous approximation model is fitted to estimate the length of parcel service tours.A case study is conducted using New York City(NYC)data.The parcel generation is shown to be a valid fit.The continuous approximation model parameters have R2 values of 98%or higher.The model output is validated against UPS truck trips.Application of the model to 2021 suggests residential parcel deliveries contributed to 0.05%of total daily vehicle-kilometer-traveled(VKT)in NYC corresponding to 14.4 metric tons of carbon equivalent(MTCE)emissions per day.COVID-19 contributed to an increase in parcel deliveries that led to up to 1064.3 MTCE of annual greenhouse gas(GHG)emissions in NYC(which could power 532 standard US households for a year).The existing bike lane infrastructure can support the substitution of 17%of parcel deliveries by cargo bikes,which would reduce VKT by 11%.Adding 3 km of bike lanes to connect Amazon facilities can expand their cargo bike substitution benefit from a VKT reduction of 5%up to 30%.If 28 km of additional bike lanes are made,parcel delivery substitution citywide could increase from 17%to 34%via cargo bike and save an additional 2.3 MTCE per day.Cargo bike priorities can be set to reduce GHG emissions for lower-income neighborhoods including Harlem,Sunset Park,and Bushwick.展开更多
