Aim: Maxillary dental arch widths were evaluated in individuals having unilateral (UCLP) and bilateral (BCLP) cleft lip and palate (CLP) using three-dimensional (3D) digital models. Material and Method: The study had been conducted on 80 individuals aged between 14 - 17 years having UCLP and BCLP. 40 of the individuals had UCLP, whereas 40 had BCLP. The maxillary dental models taken from patients before the treatment were scanned using Orthomodel Programme (v.1.01, Orthomodel Inc., Istanbul, Turkey) to obtain 3D imagery. Student’s t-test was used in order to assess the data obtained by using SPSS software version 22.0. Results: In BCLP, the average inter-canine distance was 17.44 ± 1.31 mm, the average inter-molar distance was 36.57 ± 1.12 mm, while inter-canine/inter-molar ratio was 0.47. Whereas in UCLP, it was 25.10 ± 0.63 mm, 42.20 ± 0.53 mm and 0.59. The inter-canine distance in UCLP was found to be large enough to be statistically significant (p 0.05), even though there were differences in inter-molar widths. Conclusion: For the stable orthodontic treatment results, one of the most important points is arch form and widths to be coherent with each other. In our study, the increase of inter-canine distance seen in UCLP indicates that in the cleft region, the maxillary arch is inclined over to the back, while the same situation in BCLP suggests that the maxillary segments are collapsed inside. The difference in the arch is highly affected by the primary surgical treatment. 展开更多

It is of great importance to obtain precise trace data,as traces are frequently the sole visible and measurable parameter in most outcrops. The manual recognition and detection of traces on high-resolution three-dimensional(3D)models are relatively straightforward but time-consuming.One potential solution to enhance this process is to use machine learning algorithms to detect the 3D traces. In this study,a unique pixel-wise texture mapper algorithm generates a dense point cloud representation of an outcrop with the precise resolution of the original textured 3D model.A virtual digital image rendering was then employed to capture virtual images of selected regions. This technique helps to overcome limitations caused by the surface morphology of the rock mass, such as restricted access, lighting conditions, and shading effects. After AI-powered trace detection on two-dimensional(2D)images,a 3D data structuring technique was applied to the selected trace pixels. In the 3D data structuring, the trace data were structured through 2D thinning,3D reprojection, clustering, segmentation, and segment linking. Finally, the linked segments were exported as 3D polylines, with each polyline in the output corresponding to a trace. The efficacy of the proposed method was assessed using a 3D model of a real-world case study, which was used to compare the results of artificial intelligence(AI)-aided and human intelligence trace detection.Rosette diagrams, which visualize the distribution of trace orientations, confirmed the high similarity between the automatically and manually generated trace maps.In conclusion, the proposed semi-automatic method was easy to use, fast, and accurate in detecting the dominant jointing system of the rock mass. 展开更多

Currently, there are a limited number of dynamic models available for braided composite plates with large overall motions, despite the incorporation of three-dimensional(3D)braided composites into rotating blade components. In this paper,a dynamic model of 3D 4-directional braided composite thin plates considering braiding directions is established.Based on Kirchhoff's plate assumptions, the displacement variables of the plate are expressed.By incorporating the braiding directions into the constitutive equation of the braided composites, the dynamic model of the plate considering braiding directions is obtained. The effects of the speeds, braiding directions, and braided angles on the responses of the plate with fixed-axis rotation and translational motion, respectively, are investigated. This paper presents a dynamic theory for calculating the deformation of 3D braided composite structures undergoing both translational and rotational motions. It also provides a simulation method for investigating the dynamic behavior of non-isotropic material plates in various applications. 展开更多

Despite its utility in identifying patterns in celestial objects, the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram is not supported in dim or small stars;it struggles to provide insights into certain celestial objects such as brown dwarfs [1]. The purpose of this experiment is to create an improved version of the diagram with a three-dimensional model that includes a third z-axis to accurately predict and chart the life cycles of all stars regardless of size. The values of the stars’ absolute magnitude and color indices were used to chart the surface gravity and metallicity, variables that were chosen due to their ease of collection and their likeliness to be within the range of values being assessed. To obtain the values for the model, data points from the database GAIA DR2 were utilized via the TAP protocol to query the SQL database. The data was transferred into a local CSV file to facilitate data manipulation. The data could be read and interpreted, as dim stars would likely have higher values of these variables, making it easier to include them in the diagram. The Pandas DataFrames tool on Python 3 was used to organize and manage the data efficiently. Matplotlib Graphs visualized the relationships between different stellar attributes by developing a linear regression line and an algorithm and creating scatter plots and sky maps to explore trends, hence designing three-dimensional diagrams. It was determined that the surface gravity diagram had a higher efficacy than metallicity due to their standard deviations of 0.4641441715272741 and 0.786577627976148, respectively. 展开更多

The problem of taking an unorganized point cloud in 3D space and fitting a polyhedral surface to those points is both important and difficult. Aiming at increasing applications of full three dimensional digital terrain surface modeling, a new algorithm for the automatic generation of three dimensional triangulated irregular network from a point cloud is pro- posed. Based on the local topological consistency test, a combined algorithm of constrained 3D Delaunay triangulation and region-growing is extended to ensure topologically correct reconstruction. This paper also introduced an efficient neighbor- ing triangle location method by making full use of the surface normal information. Experimental results prove that this algo- rithm can efficiently obtain the most reasonable reconstructed mesh surface with arbitrary topology, wherein the automati- cally reconstructed surface has only small topological difference from the true surface. This algorithm has potential applica- tions to virtual environments, computer vision, and so on. 展开更多

Hypoxia is a typical feature of the tumor microenvironment, one of the most critical factors affecting cell behavior and tumor progression. However, the lack of tumor models able to precisely emulate natural brain tumor tissue has impeded the study of the effects of hypoxia on the progression and growth of tumor cells. This study reports a three-dimensional(3D)brain tumor model obtained by encapsulating U87MG(U87)cells in a hydrogel containing type I collagen. It also documents the effect of various oxygen concentrations(1%,7%,and 21%)in the culture environment on U87 cell morphology, proliferation, viability, cell cycle, apoptosis rate, and migration. Finally,it compares two-dimensional(2D)and 3D cultures. For comparison purposes, cells cultured in flat culture dishes were used as the control(2D model).Cells cultured in the 3D model proliferated more slowly but had a higher apoptosis rate and proportion of cells in the resting phase(G0 phase)/gap I phase(G1 phase)than those cultured in the 2D model.Besides, the two models yielded significantly different cell morphologies.Finally,hypoxia(e.g.,1%O2)affected cell morphology, slowed cell growth, reduced cell viability, and increased the apoptosis rate in the 3D model. These results indicate that the constructed 3D model is effective for investigating the effects of biological and chemical factors on cell morphology and function, and can be more representative of the tumor microenvironment than 2D culture systems. The developed 3D glioblastoma tumor model is equally applicable to other studies in pharmacology and pathology. 展开更多

Integrating mobile edge computing (MEC) and digital twin (DT) technologies to enhance network performance through predictive, adaptive control for energy-efficient and low-latency communication is a significant challenge. This paper presents the EcoEdgeTwin model, an innovative framework that harnesses the harmony between MEC and DT technologies to ensure an efficient network operation. We optimise the utility function to balance enhancing users' quality of experience (QoE) and minimising latency and energy consumption at edge servers. This approach ensures efficient and adaptable network operations, utilising DT to synchronise and integrate real-time data seamlessly. Our framework implements robust mechanisms for task offloading, service caching and cost-effective service migration. Additionally, it manages energy consumption related to task processing, communication and the influence of DT predictions, all essential for optimising latency and minimising energy usage. Through the utility model, we also prioritise QoE, fostering a user-centric approach to network management that balances network efficiency with user satisfaction. A cornerstone of our approach is integrating the advantage actor-critic algorithm, marking a pioneering use of deep reinforcement learning for dynamic network management. This strategy addresses challenges in service mobility and network variability, ensuring optimal network performance matrices. Our extensive simulations demonstrate that compared to benchmark models, the EcoEdgeTwin framework significantly reduces energy usage and latency while enhancing QoE. 展开更多

Assessing the benefits and costs of digitalization in the energy industry is a complex issue.Traditional cost-benefit analysis(CBA)might encounter problems in addressing uncertainties, dynamic stakeholder interactions, and feedback loops arising out of the evolving nature of digitalization. This paper introduces a methodological framework to help address the intricate inter connections between digital applications and business models in the energy industry. The proposed framework leverages system dynamics to achieve two primary objectives. It investigates how digitalization generally influences the value proposi-tion,value capture, and value creation dimensions of business models. It also quantifies the financial and social impacts of digitalization from a dynamic perspective. The proposed dynamic CBA allows for a more precise quantification of the benefits and costs, associated with evidence-based decision-making.Findings from an illustrative case study challenge the static assumptions of conventional methods. These methods often presume continuous operation, neglecting reinvestment and operational feedback loops, and resulting in negative net present values.Conversely, the outcomes of the proposed method indicate positive net present values when accounting for factors such as reinvestment rates and the will-ingness to invest in digitalization projects. The principles outlined in this paper can enable a more accu-rate assessment of digitalization projects, thus catalyzing the development of new CBA applications and guidelines for digitalization. 展开更多

Utilizing multi-band and multi-carrier techniques enhances throughput and capacity in Long-Term Evolution(LTE)-Advanced and 5G New Radio(NR)mobile networks. However, these techniques introduce Passive Inter-Modulation(PIM)interference in Frequency-Division Duplexing(FDD)systems. In this paper,a novel multi-band Wiener-Hammerstein model is presented to digitally reconstruct PIM interference signals, thereby achieving effective PIM Cancellation(PIMC)in multi-band scenarios. In the model, transmitted signals are independently processed to simulate Inter-Modulation Distortions(IMDs)and Cross-Modulation Distortions(CMDs).Furthermore, the Finite Impulse Response(FIR)filter, basis function generation, and B-spline function are applied for precise PIM product estimation and generation in multi-band scenarios.Simulations involving 4 carrier components from diverse NR frequency bands at varying transmitting powers validate the feasibility of the model for multi-band PIMC,achieving up to 19 dB in PIMC performance.Compared to other models, this approach offers superior PIMC performance, exceeding them by more than 5 dB in high transmitting power scenarios.Additionally, its lower sampling rate requirement reduces the hardware complexity associated with implementing multi-band PIMC. 展开更多

High Mountain Asia(HMA),recognized as a third pole, needs regular and intense studies as it is susceptible to climate change. An accurate and high-resolution Digital Elevation Model(DEM)for this region enables us to analyze it in a 3D environment and understand its intricate role as the Water Tower of Asia. The science teams of NASA realized an 8-m DEM using satellite stereo imagery for HMA,termed HMA 8-m DEM.In this research,we assessed the vertical accuracy of HMA 8-m DEM using reference elevations from ICESat-2 geolocated photons at three test sites of varied topography and land covers.Inferences were made from statistical quantifiers and elevation profiles. For the world’s highest mountain,Mount Everest, and its surroundings,Root Mean Squared Error(RMSE)and Mean Absolute Error(MAE)resulted in 1.94 m and 1.66 m,respectively;however,a uniform positive bias observed in the elevation profiles indicates the seasonal snow cover change will dent the accurate estimation of the elevation in this sort of test sites. The second test site containing gentle slopes with forest patches has exhibited the Digital Surface Model(DSM)features with RMSE and MAE of 0.58 m and 0.52 m,respectively. The third test site, situated in the Zanda County of the Qinghai-Tibet,is a relatively flat terrain bed, mostly bare earth with sudden river cuts, and has minimal errors with RMSE and MAE of 0.32 m and 0.29 m,respectively, and with a negligible bias.Additionally,in one more test site, the feasibility of detecting the glacial lakes was tested, which resulted in exhibiting a flat surface over the surface of the lakes, indicating the potential of HMA 8-m DEM for deriving the hydrological parameters. The results accrued in this investigation confirm that the HMA 8-m DEM has the best vertical accuracy and should be of high use for analyzing natural hazards and monitoring glacier surfaces. 展开更多

The rise in breast cancer diagnoses among Chinese women has necessitated the use of X-ray breast screening, which carries a radiation risk. This study aimed to provide a dosimetry protocol for the Chinese female population to replace the traditional standard that utilizes simplified breast models, for the accurate estimation of the mean glandular dose of a patient undergoing digital breast tomosynthesis(DBT).The first set of detailed Chinese female breast models and representative breast parameters was constructed.Considering backscatter radiation and computational efficiency,we improved the combination of these models and the Chinese reference adult female whole-body voxel phantom.Image acquisition for four commercial DBT systems that are widely employed in China was simulated using the Monte Carlo method to obtain the normalized glandular dose coefficients of DBT(D_(gN)^(DBT))and the glandular depth dose(D_(g)^(dep)(z))for different breast characteristics and X-ray spectra. We calculated a series of D_(gN)^(DBT) values for breasts with different percentage mass glandularities(5%,25%,50%,75%,and 100%)and compressed breast thicknesses(2,3,4,5,6,and 7 cm)at various tube potentials(25,28,30,32,35,and 49 kV)and target/filter combinations(W/Rh,W/Al,Mo/Mo,Rh/Rh,and Rh/Ag).The parameter dependence of the breast characteristics and beam conditions on D_(gN)^(DBT) in detailed breast models was investigated. The D_(gN)^(DBT) results were 14.6-51.0%lower than those of the traditional dosimetry standard in China. The difference in D_(gN)^(DBT) was mainly due to a decrease in the depth of the main energy deposition area caused by the glandular distribution along the depth direction. The results obtained in this study may be used to improve breast dosimetry in China and provide more detailed information on risk assessment during DBT. 展开更多

With drilling and seismic data of Transtensional(strike-slip)Fault System in the Ziyang area of the central Sichuan Basin,SW China plane-section integrated structural interpretation,3-D fault framework model building, fault throw analyzing, and balanced profile restoration,it is pointed out that the transtensional fault system in the Ziyang 3-D seismic survey consists of the northeast-trending F_(I)19 and F_(I)20 fault zones dominated by extensional deformation,as well as 3 sets of northwest-trending en echelon normal faults experienced dextral shear deformation.Among them, the F_(I)19 and F_(I)20 fault zones cut through the Neoproterozoic to Lower Triassic Jialingjiang Formation, presenting a 3-D structure of an“S”-shaped ribbon. And before Permian and during the Early Triassic, the F_(I)19 and F_(I)20 fault zones underwent at least two periods of structural superimposition.Besides, the 3 sets of northwest-trending en echelon normal faults are composed of small normal faults arranged in pairs, with opposite dip directions and partially left-stepped arrangement. And before Permian, they had formed almost, restricting the eastward growth and propagation of the F_(I)19 fault zone. The F_(I)19 and F_(I)20 fault zones communicate multiple sets of source rocks and reservoirs from deep to shallow, and the timing of fault activity matches well with oil and gas generation peaks. If there were favorable Cambrian-Triassic sedimentary facies and reservoirs developing on the local anticlinal belts of both sides of the F_(I)19 and F_(I)20 fault zones, the major reservoirs in this area are expected to achieve breakthroughs in oil and gas exploration. 展开更多

Objective:To highlight the role of hyper accuracy three-dimensional(3D)reconstruction in facilitating surgical planning and guiding selective clamping during robot-assisted partial nephrectomy(RAPN).Methods:A transperitoneal RAPN was performed in a 62-year-old male patient presenting with a 4 cm right anterior interpolar renal mass(R.E.N.A.L nephrometry score 7A).An abnormal vasculature was observed, with a single renal vein and two right renal arteries originating superiorly to the vein and anterior, when dividing in their segmental branches.According to the hyper accuracy 3D(HA3D^(®))rainbow model(MEDICS Srl,Turin,Italy),one branch belonging to one of the segmental arteries was feeding the tumor. This allowed for an accurate prediction of the area vascularized by each arterial branch. The 3D model was included in the intraoperative console view during the whole procedure, using the TilePro feature.A step-by-step explanation of the procedure is provided in the video attached to the present article. Results:The operative time was 90 min with a warm ischemia time on selective clamping of 13 min.Estimated blood loss was 180 mL.No intraoperative complication was encountered and no drain was placed at the end of the procedure. The patient was discharged on postoperative Day 2,without any early postoperative complications. The final pathology report showed a pathological tumor stage 1 clear cell renal cell carcinoma with negative surgical margins. Conclusion:The present study and the attached video illustrate the value of 3D rainbow model during the planning and execution of a RAPN with selective clamping. It shows how the surgeon can rely on this model to be more efficient by avoiding unnecessary surgical steps, and to safely adopt a“selective”clamping strategy that can translate in minimal functional impact. 展开更多

As a novel economic form, the digital economy is reshaping the financial regulatory landscape and significantly impacting regulatory costs. This paper incorporates the digital economy and financial regulatory costs into the classic Solow growth model, uncovering an inverted U-shaped relationship between them.A subsequent mechanism analysis explains the rationale behind this relationship. To empirically examine this relationship in China, the paper utilizes inter-provincial panel data from 2013 to 2021 and employs methodologies such as the two-way fixed effects and moderating effects models. These analyses have important implications for the sound and sustainable development of China’s financial industry. The findings indicate:(a)As China’s digital economy develops, its impact on financial regulatory costs follows an inverted U-shaped pattern, initially increasing and then declining. This conclusion remains valid after robustness tests.(b)The influence of the digital economy on regulatory costs depends on favorable external conditions.Specifically, the impact is more pronounced in regions and periods with better digital infrastructure and more abundant human capital.(c)Additionally, redundant resources moderate this impact, which can weaken the inverted U-shaped relationship. Our findings not only provide a theoretical foundation for understanding the impact of the digital economy on financial regulatory costs but also offer valuable policy insights for optimizing financial regulation in China. 展开更多

Visual media have dominated sensory communications for decades, and the resulting“visual hegemony”leads to the call for the“auditory return”in order to achieve a holistic balance in cultural acceptance.Romance of the Three Kingdoms,a classic literary work in China, has received significant attention and promotion from leading audio platforms. However, the commercialization of digital audio publishing faces unprecedented challenges due to the mismatch between the dissemination of long-form content on digital audio platforms and the current trend of short and fast information reception.Drawing on the Business Model Canvas Theory and taking Romance of the Three Kingdoms as the main focus of analysis, this paper argues that the construction of a business model for the audio publishing of classical books should start from three aspects:the user evaluation of digital audio platforms, the establishment of value propositions based on the“creative transformation and innovative development”principle, and the improvement of the audio publishing infrastructure to ensure the healthy operation and development of the digital audio platforms and consequently improve their current state of development and expand the boundaries of cultural heritage. 展开更多

Deep learning has become a hot field of artificial intelligence, and the deep learning large model framework has become a bridgehead for the active layout of Chinese and foreign technology companies.Large models play a significant role in the application field, greatly improving the efficiency of training and optimization, and contributing to the landing of many innovative artificial intelligence tools.Based on the Chinese PaddlePaddle large model framework,an application system is designed in combination with the intelligent classroom teaching scenario, which uses machine vision algorithms to distinguish and present teachers’and students’behaviors, that is,the digitization and multi-classification scheme of class character states. After having digital data, data analysis can be carried out to evaluate the class status of teachers and students, and the traditional subjective judgment such as peacetime grades and teaching ability can be upgraded to the objective judgment of artificial intelligence. 展开更多
