But few researches about the machining mechanism and the surface roughness were reported. The high-speed milling experiments are carried out in order to improve the machining quality and reveal the machining mechanism. The typical topography features of machined surface are observed by scan electron microscope(SEM). The results show that the milled surface topography is mainly characterized by the plastic shearing deformation surface and material piling zone. The material flows plastically along the end cutting edge of the flat-end milling tool and meanwhile is extruded by the end cutting edge, resulting in that materials partly adhere to the machined surface and form the material piling zone. As the depth of cut and the feed per tooth increase, the plastic flow of materials is strengthened and the machined surface becomes rougher. However, as the cutting speed increases, the plastic flow of materials is weakened and the milled surface becomes smoother. The cutting parameters (e.g. cutting speed, feed per tooth and depth of cut) influencing the surface roughness are analyzed. It can be concluded that the roughness of the machined surface formed by the end cutting edge is less than that by the cylindrical cutting edge when a cylindrical flat-end mill tool is used for milling. The proposed research provides the typical topography features of machined surface of the anti-rust aluminum alloy AlMn1Cu in high speed milling.展开更多

The evolution of 3-D disturbance T-S wave is studied in the spatial processes, and the effects of form and distribution structure of local roughness on the growth rate of the 3-D disturbance wave and the flow stability are discussed. Numerical results show that the growth of the disturbance wave and the form of vortices are accelerated by the 3-D local roughness. The three-dimensional (3-D) numerical solution of a base flow on a boundary layer is obtained for the localized rough wall with the local- ized ejection, the localized suction and the combination of ejection and suction. Based on numerical simulations, the processes of stable and the most instable nonlinear evolution of the 2-D disturbance T-S wave are studied. The effects of the form on the localized roughness, the intensity, and the distribution structure on the nonlinear evolution of 2-D T-S wave and the growth rate are discussed. Results show that the basic flow induced by the lo- calized rough wall is a key factor causing the fast growth of the disturbance wave. Due to the change of the aver- age flow profile and the existence of the spanwise velocity, the localized rough wall enhances the instability of the flow. Consequently, the instable region of the neutral curve is enlargened, and the maximnum growth rate of the 2-D T-S wave is increased. In the process of the nonlinear evolution of 2-D disturbance T-S wave, with the in- crease of the nonlinear interaction, the most instable 2-D disturbance wave triggers the appearance of the 3-D dis- turbance wave and the high-frequency harmonic wave. Its streamwise wave number and the frequency are the same as those of 2-D disturbance wave. The spanwise velocity can excite the growth of the 2-D disturbance wave, the instability of 2-D wave, the formation of the streamwise vortex, and the generation of 3-D disturbance wave. Simulation results agree well with experimental results.展开更多

Recently 2D depth averaged analysis is familiar even in a stream with vegetation by taking account of form drag due to vegetation. However, the shear stress in vegetated area is not properly described because the resistance law due to bed roughness is not reasonably modified in vegetated area. In this study, we discussed the bed roughness boundary layer in flow with non-submerged vegetation to deduce a reasonable relation between U and u* in vegetated area toward improving the analysis of sediment transport. The results show that the modification of resistance law using by thickness, velocity distribution in that layer was found to bring significant improvement of accurate estimation of shear velocity and subsequently the sediment transport. The proposed modification is improved by 2D depth averaged analysis based on this concept, and its application is certificated through flume experiment.展开更多

The tapered incident wave is introduced into the classic KA, and the bistatic scattering coefficient is redetermined. The advantage of this method is that it is faster in computation than the exact numerical methods. The numerical results show that the bistatic scattering coefficient calculated in the KA is in good agreement with that obtained by using the method of moment (MOM) over a most angular range, which indicates the validity of the KA proposed in our paper. Finally, the effects of the relative permittivity, the root-mean-square (RMS) height, the correlative length, and the average height between the two interfaces on the bistatic scattering coefficient are discussed in detail.展开更多

The results show that the Tollmien-Schlichting (T-S) wave packets superposed by a group of stability, neutral, and instability T-S waves are generated in the boundary layer. The relation among the boundary-layer receptivity response, the amplitude of the FST, the roughness height, and the roughness width is determined. The results agree well with Dietz's experiments. The effect of the roughness geometries on the receptivity is also studied.展开更多

Theoretical formulations of EM scattering from multi-layered rough interfaces with a PEC object have been derived in detail and the total fields and their normal derivatives on the rough interfaces are solved. The two-layered model is a special case. In this work, a Gaussian rough surface was applied to simulate the rough interface. A cylinder was located above, between or below the two-layered rough interfaces. Through numerical simulations, the validity of this work is demonstrated by comparing it with existing scattering models, which are special cases that include a PEC object located above/below a single-layered rough interface and two-layered rough interfaces without an object. Subsequently, the influences of characteristic parameters, such as the relative permittivity of the medium, as well as the average height between the two rough surfaces, on the bistatic scattering coefficient are discussed.展开更多

A rough surface with exponential correlation function is presented for describing a rough soil surface of layered medium, the formula of its scattering coefficient is derived by considering the spectrum of the rough surface with exponential correlation function; the curves of the bistatic scattering coefficient of HH polarization with variation of the scattering angle are obtained by numerical calculation. In the model a new factor is introduced to compensate for the effects of wake diffusion and interactions between the wake and roughness obstacles. The experiments are carried out by the use of the hot wire anemometry in the simulated atmospheric boundary layer in a wind tunnel. Based on the experimental data, a new expression for the zero-plane displacement height is proposed for the square arrays of roughness elements, which highlights the influence of free-stream speed on the roughness length. It appears that the displacement height increases with the wind speed while the surface roughness length decreases with Reynolds number increasing. It is shown that the calculation results based on the new expressions are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data.展开更多

The spanwise velocity can excite the growth of the 2-D disturbance wave, the instability of 2-D wave, the formation of the streamwise vortex, and the generation of 3-D disturbance wave. Simulation results agree well with experimental results.
文摘Ecosystem conservation has become one of the purposes in river management as well as flood mitigation and water resources management, and understanding of river flow and morphology in a stream with vegetation becomes important. The proposed modification is improved by 2D depth averaged analysis based on this concept, and its application is certificated through flume experiment.

文摘Large-scale secondary motions are known to occur in turbulent flows over surfaces with spanwise roughness heterogeneity.Numerical studies often use adjacent high-and low-roughness longitudinal strips to investigate these secondary rolls in boundary layers without any thermal stratification. In the present study, the effect of unstable thermal stratification on secondary rolls in a very high-Reynolds-number turbulent flow with spanwise-heterogeneous roughness is investigated by means of large-eddy simulation. The strength of the unstable stratification is systematically changed from L/h=−20 to L/h=−1,where L and h are Monin-Obukhov length and boundary-layer height, respectively. This range covers the transition from neutral stratification to unstable stratification. The results show that the positive buoyancy associated with the unstable thermal stratification acts against the roughness-induced secondary rolls. In the case of unstable stratification, secondary rolls are completely canceled out by buoyancy and replaced by new stronger convection-induced rolls rotating in opposite directions.

文摘Electromagnetic wave scattering from multilayers consisting of two two-layer Caussian rough surfaces with lossless media is investigated in the Kirchhoff approximation (KA), with consideration of the shadowing effects. Finally, the effects of the relative permittivity, the root-mean-square (RMS) height, the correlative length, and the average height between the two interfaces on the bistatic scattering coefficient are discussed in detail.

文摘The boundary-layer receptivity under the interaction of free-stream turbu- lence (FST) and localized wall roughness is studied by the direct numerical simulation (DNS) and the fast Fourier transform. The results show that the Tollmien-Schlichting (T-S) wave packets superposed by a group of stability, neutral, and instability T-S waves are generated in the boundary layer. The propagation speeds of the T-S wave packets are calculated. The relation among the boundary-layer receptivity response, the amplitude of the FST, the roughness height, and the roughness width is determined. The results agree well with Dietz's experiments. The effect of the roughness geometries on the receptivity is also studied.

文摘Electromagnetic (EM) scattering from a stack of two rough interfaces separating a homogeneous medium with a perfectly electric conducting (PEC) object has been calculated through the method of moments for vertical polarization. Subsequently, the influences of characteristic parameters, such as the relative permittivity of the medium, as well as the average height between the two rough surfaces, on the bistatic scattering coefficient are discussed.

文摘A quick and exact imaging method for one-dimensional layered rough surfaces is proposed in this paper to study the scattering characteristics of a layered medium that exists widely in nature. The boundary integral equations of layered rough surfaces are solved by using the propagation-inside-layer expansion combined with the forward and backward spectral acceleration method(PILE+FB-SA),and the back scattering data are obtained. Then,a conventional synthetic aperture radar(SAR) imaging procedure called back projection method is used to generate a two-dimensional(2D) image of the layered rough surfaces.Combined with the relative dielectric permittivity of realistic soil, the random rough surfaces with Gauss spectrum are used to simulate the layered medium with rough interfaces.Since the back scattering data are computed by using the fast numerical method, this method can be used to study layered rough surfaces with any parameter, which has a great application value in the detection and remote sensing areas.
文摘In this paper, the differences of turbulent coherent structure beween the smooth and rough boundary lavers are analysed.Based on the discussing the transient properties from the smooth wall tothe rough wall, the physicalmodel of coherent structure for the rough boundary layer are established. The width of slwly-moving turbulent spot and the bursting time are obtained, which are in agreement with experimental results.

文摘Corrosion-resistant and biocompatible films were fabricated on AZ91D Mg alloy substrates by varying their roughness levels using met-allographic preparation and subsequent hydrothermal procedures. The coated films comprised a mixed structure of Mg(OH)_(2)and Mg-Al layered double hydroxides(LDH)and exhibited excellent compactness.Coating film thickness increased with decreasing surface roughness.Corrosion resistance was evaluated using potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.Metallographic pretreat-ment influenced the chemical activity of the Mg alloy surface and helped modulate the dissolution rate of the Mg_(17)Al_(12)phase during the hydrothermal procedure. With decreasing roughness of the Mg substrate, the Al^(3+)concentration gradually increased, accelerating the in-situ formation of the Mg(OH)_(2)/LDH composite coating and improving its crystallinity.A thick and dense Mg(OH)_(2)/LDH coating was synthesized on the Mg substrate with the least roughness, substantially improving the corrosion resistance of the AZ91D alloy. The lowest corrosion current density((5.73±2.75)×10^(−8)A·cm^(−2))was achieved, which was approximately three orders of magnitude less than that of bare AZ91D.Moreover,the coating demonstrated biocompatibility with no evident cytotoxicity, cellular damage, and hemolytic phenomena. This study provides an effective method for preparing coatings on Mg alloy surfaces with excellent corrosion resistance and biocompatibility.

文摘Electromagnetic scattering from a rough surface of layered medium is investigated, and the formulae of the scattering coefficients for different polarizations are derived using the small perturbation method. The influence of the permittivity of layered medium, the mean layer thickness of intermediate medium, the roughness surface parameters and the frequency of the incident wave on the blstatic scattering coefficient is discussed. Numerical results show that the influence of the permittivity of layered medium, the mean layer thickness of intermediate medium, the rms and the correlation length of the rough surface, and the frequency of the incident wave on the bistatic scattering coefficient is very complex.

文摘An alternative model for the prediction of surface roughness length is developed. It is shown that the calculation results based on the new expressions are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data.
