The product must meet the following desirable criteria: effectiveness, contamination free, stability, cost-effectiveness, and a prolonged shelf life. Controlling the drying process is crucial for ensuring the stability and durability of the product. The traditional approach, which involved mechanical and natural drying, led to decreased productivity and quality. The objective of this research endeavour was to achieve a dry process enhancement while preserving the microbial quality of Trichoderma asperellum (M103). The temperature and relative humidity during the drying period were monitored under two conditions: with and without a dehumidifier. The results demonstrate that the dehumidifier increases drying period efficiency by up to 63%.展开更多

The balance between glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration is crucial for energy production, and metabolic reprogramming stipulates a shift in such balance to optimize both bioenergetic efficiency and anabolic requirements. Failure in switching bioenergetic dependence can lead to maladaptation and pathogenesis. While cellular degradation is known to recycle precursor molecules for anabolism, its potential role in regulating energy production remains less explored. The bioenergetic switch between glycolysis and mitochondrial respiration involves transcription factors and organelle homeostasis, which are both regulated by the cellular degradation pathways. A growing body of studies has demonstrated that both stem cells and differentiated cells exhibit bioenergetic switch upon perturbations of autophagic activity or endolysosomal processes. Here, we highlighted the current understanding of the interplay between degradation processes, specifically autophagy and endolysosomes, transcription factors, endolysosomal signaling, and mitochondrial homeostasis in shaping cellular bioenergetics. This review aims to summarize the relationship between degradation processes and bioenergetics, providing a foundation for future research to unveil deeper mechanistic insights into bioenergetic regulation.展开更多

In order to address the multiple challenges faced by farmers in rural areas, a study on improving agricultural productivity and food security in Burundi through optimized land use and diversified farming practices in agroforestry systems has been carried out. The study area is the communes of Giheta and Rutegama, all located in Burundi’s humid plateau livelihood zone, and involved 164 households grouped in coffee growing cooperatives supervised by the cooperative consortium COCOCA. The study uses a mathematical programming model to determine optimal crop selection based on factors such as production costs, yields and market demand. The findings of the study revealed significant insights into the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the sampled population. Notably, 98.8% of respondents were engaged in agriculture, confirming the predominantly agricultural nature of Burundi. The results indicated that maize is the most important crop, occupying 33.9% of the average total cultivated area, followed by cassava at 26.5% and bananas at 19.4%. Together, these three crops accounted for a substantial portion of the total cultivated area, highlighting their significance in local agriculture. Beans and potatoes also play a role, occupying 14.4% and smaller areas, respectively. In terms of profitability, the study provides a detailed analysis of profit margins by crop. Bananas emerges as the most profitable crop, with a profit margin of 97.3%, followed closely by cassava at 96.1% and rice at 90.5%. These crops not only offered substantial yields relative to their production costs but also benefited from strong market demand. Other crops, such as beans (71.3%), coffee (70.3%), and vegetables (54.5%), also demonstrated considerable profitability, although they occupied smaller cultivated areas. Conversely, crops like pigeon peas (4.1%), potatoes (7.6%), and sweet potatoes (7.6%) exhibited the lowest profit margins, which may discourage farmers from investing in them unless other incentives, such as ecological benefits or local consumption needs, are present. Regarding the results, we therefore recommend to promote policies supporting agroforestry, improve market access and develop infrastructure to exploit these benefits.展开更多

Following the COVID-19 pandemic and socio-political crisis that hit Cameroon’s economy, there has been a steady increase in food insecurity, which has paved the way for farmers to adopt some sustainable strategies to boost agricultural productivity. Therefore, in trying to find models for survival and the pursuit of growth, farmers adopted some traditional farming methods and the use of local input as a means of sustainability. This study specifically seeks to analyze the effect of sustainability strategies on agricultural productivity in Tubah sub-division North West Region, Cameroon. The data was elicited via a survey questionnaire administered to 202 participating farmers selected from the different farmer organizations in the Tubah sub-division. Using cluster-sampling approach, proximity villages were grouped into four clusters of villages, and stratified sampling was used to select farmers to participate in the study. The objective of the study was achieved using OLS and quantile regression estimation techniques. The result showed evidence that the sustainability strategies implemented by the farmers decreased agricultural productivity in the 25th quantile, and at the 50th and 75th quantile, agricultural productivity still declined. This decline is because of unsustainable agricultural strategies like the use of slash and burn, the use of chemical fertilizers, inadequate capital, low level of education, inadequate farming experience, inadequate income, inadequate farm size, and the type of technology used for farming. Based on the findings, this study recommends that the government should organize training programs and seminars, subsidize farm inputs, grant agricultural loans to farmers, and initiate and support mechanized agriculture to boost agricultural productivity.展开更多

While extensive research has focused on maize production in Cameroon, the exploration of its value-added products and their profitability in the North-West Region remains underexplored. This study examined the profitability of maize value-added products in Mezam Division, with the objectives to: 1) identify various maize-based products, 2) assess the diversity of these products, 3) conduct a cost-benefit analysis of selected products, 4) examine the relationship between profitability and product diversity, and 5) identify key constraints impacting profitability. To achieve these objectives, structured questionnaires were administered to 500 small-scale maize entrepreneurs randomly selected from five subdivisions. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze objective 1 and 5, while the Shannon Diversity Index was employed to assess product diversity. Additionally, a cost-benefit analysis was conducted on four selected products namely pap, parched corn, peeled parboiled corn, and corn beer, and a correlation analysis was used to examine objective 4. In total, 13 maize value-added products were identified, with a diversity index of 4.4. The total cost of processing the four selected products per entrepreneur using 18 kg of maize per product was FCFA 83631.5 (US $132.75), while the total revenue was FCFA 121864.5 (US $193.43), resulting in an economic profit of FCFA 38,233 (US $60.69). Pap emerged as the most profitable product, with an economic profit of FCFA 27,875 (US $44.24), while corn beer was the least profitable, with an economic profit of FCFA 2133.46 (US $3.39). The correlation analysis revealed a strong negative relationship between product diversity and profitability (r = −0.91), indicating that entrepreneurs can maximize profitability by focusing on a few high-demand products like pap and parched corn. Key constraints to profitability included fluctuating market prices, high production costs, limited access to finance, and inadequate storage facilities. Despite these challenges, our findings indicate that maize value addition is profitable in Mezam Division. Entrepreneurs can leverage this data for informed decision-making and future investments. It is recommended that the government promote maize value addition and provide financial support for modern processing equipment to boost profitability and income generation.展开更多

This work intends to study the photocatalytic production of hydrogen from D-(+)-Glucose by using different groups of catalysts that have been prepared (M2+ = Zn, Mg and Ni) M2+/Ti4+ Al3+-LDHs (layered double hydroxides). It is then loaded Pd on the catalyst, and the effect of the composite catalyst, layered double hydroxides, is measured. After calcining, the catalyst for the conversion of Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) to Layered Double Oxides (LDOs) is used to produce hydrogen gas from glucose. Photocatalytic reforming of glucose-derived compounds is an efficient method for the production of hydrogen. The purpose is to study the effect of metal ions on layered double oxide (LDO) materials by loading Pd and investigate hydrogen production from glucose. The metal cations in the layer were distributed through the preparation of the catalyst process by ion and atom scale between the layers, which were dispersed systematically, as well as the controlled component catalysis. This process shows that ZnTiAl-LDO had the best effect as a catalyst in producing hydrogen compared to NiTiAl-LDO and MgTiAl-LDO.展开更多

Presently, control measures for PPR are primarily reliant on vaccination using an attenuated PPR strain Nigeria 75/1 that has been produced in monolayers of Vero cells grown in static flasks. This study investigates the potential for scaling up PPR vaccine production using roller bottle technology, a more advanced method. A live, homologous vaccine against PPR in sheep and goats was successfully produced on a large scale in roller culture bottles, with DMEM supplemented with ten percent fetal bovine serum serving as the growth medium. The cells were infected with a multiplicity of infection of 0.01, and the vaccine was harvested when the cytopathic effect reached 80%. The vaccine was then freeze-dried to preserve its stability. A series of tests were conducted to ensure the safety and quality of the vaccine. Using PCR, the identity of vaccine was confirmed. It was found to be safe in both single and 100-times dose inoculations in sheep, with the produced batches showing a high titre of 6.4 ± 0.11 log10 TCID50/ml. All batches met the criteria of sterility, passing tests for bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasma. Furthermore, the vaccine proved effective in small ruminants, with antibodies persisting for over a year post-vaccination. The residual moisture content remained below 2.5%, and the vaccine successfully passed vacuum testing. Stability tests indicated that the vaccine has a shelf-life of at least one year when stored at temperatures of 2˚C - 8˚C and −20˚C. These results demonstrate the potential for applying roller bottle culture technology to PPR vaccine production, significantly streamlining the existing process and enhancing its efficiency. Further research is warranted to address the economic analyses of adopting roller bottle technology with existing PPR control program.展开更多

Regarding the results, we therefore recommend to promote policies supporting agroforestry, improve market access and develop infrastructure to exploit these benefits.
文摘In 2012, Ponraj et al. defined a concept of k-product cordial labeling as follows: Let f be a map from V(G)to { 0,1,⋯,k−1 }where k is an integer, 1≤k≤| V(G) |. For each edge uvassign the label f(u)f(v)(modk). f is called a k-product cordial labeling if | vf(i)−vf(j) |≤1, and | ef(i)−ef(j) |≤1, i,j∈{ 0,1,⋯,k−1 }, where vf(x)and ef(x)denote the number of vertices and edges respectively labeled with x (x=0,1,⋯,k−1). Motivated by this concept, we further studied and established that several families of graphs admit k-product cordial labeling. In this paper, we show that the path graphs Pnadmit k-product cordial labeling.
文摘Agriculture has become the backbone of most developing countries in the world, especially Tubah Sub-Division North West region, Cameroon. Based on the findings, this study recommends that the government should organize training programs and seminars, subsidize farm inputs, grant agricultural loans to farmers, and initiate and support mechanized agriculture to boost agricultural productivity.
文摘Maize value-added products play a crucial role in reducing post-harvest losses, enhancing food security, and generating income. It is recommended that the government promote maize value addition and provide financial support for modern processing equipment to boost profitability and income generation.
文摘Hydrogen (H2) production from renewable biomass resources plays a significant role in solving the shortage of fossil energy;hence, there is an interest in investigating alternative, cleaner processes. This process shows that ZnTiAl-LDO had the best effect as a catalyst in producing hydrogen compared to NiTiAl-LDO and MgTiAl-LDO.

文摘Peste des Petits ruminants (PPR) is considered as one of the major constraints to the productivity of small ruminants in Sudan. Further research is warranted to address the economic analyses of adopting roller bottle technology with existing PPR control program.

文摘Pressure control in deep shale gas horizontal wells can reduce the stress sensitivity of hydraulic fractures and improve the estimated ultimate recovery(EUR).In this study,a hydraulic fracture stress sensitivity model is proposed to characterize the effect of pressure drop rate on fracture permeability.Furthermore,a production prediction model is introduced accounting for a non-uniform hydraulic fracture conductivity distribution. The results reveal that increasing the fracture conductivity leads to a rapid daily production increase in the early stages. However, above 0.50 D·cm,a further increase in the fracture conductivity has a limited effect on shale gas production growth. The initial production is lower under pressure-controlled conditions than that under pressure-release.For extended pressure control durations, the cumulative production initially increases and then decreases. For a fracture conductivity of 0.10 D·cm,the increase in production output under controlled-pressure conditions is~35%.For representative deep shale gas wells(Southern Sichuan,China),if the pressure drop rate under controlled-pressure conditions is reduced from 0.19 to 0.04 MPa/d,the EUR increase for 5 years of pressure-controlled production is 41.0 million, with an increase percentage of~29%.
文摘We consider the partially linear multiplicative model with monotonic constraint for the analysis of positive response data. We propose a constrained least product relative error (LPRE) estimation procedure for the model by means of B-spline basis expansion. We have also established asymptotic properties of the proposed estimators under regularity conditions. We finally provide numerical simulations and a real data application to assess the finite sample performance of the developed methodology.

文摘Long-termpetroleum production forecasting is essential for the effective development andmanagement of oilfields.Due to its ability to extract complex patterns, deep learning has gained popularity for production forecasting. However, existing deep learning models frequently overlook the selective utilization of information from other production wells, resulting in suboptimal performance in long-term production forecasting across multiple wells. To achieve accurate long-term petroleum production forecast,we propose a spatial-geological perception graph convolutional neural network(SGP-GCN)that accounts for the temporal, spatial, and geological dependencies inherent in petroleum production.Utilizing the attention mechanism, the SGP-GCN effectively captures intricate correlations within production and geological data, forming the representations of each production well.Based on the spatial distances and geological feature correlations,we construct a spatial-geological matrix as the weight matrix to enable differential utilization of information from other wells.Additionally,a matrix sparsification algorithm based on production clustering(SPC)is also proposed to optimize the weight distribution within the spatial-geological matrix, thereby enhancing long-term forecasting performance.Empirical evaluations have shown that the SGP-GCN outperforms existing deep learning models, such as CNN-LSTM-SA,in long-term petroleum production forecasting. This demonstrates the potential of the SGP-GCN as a valuable tool for long-term petroleum production forecasting across multiple wells.

文摘Wastewater electrolysis cells(WECs)for decentralized wastewater treatment/reuse coupled with H_(2) production can reduce the carbon footprint associated with transportation of water, waste, and energy carrier. This study reports Ir-doped NiFe_(2)O_(4)(NFI,~5 at%Ir)spinel layer with TiO_(2) overlayer(NFI/TiO_(2)),as a scalable heterojunction anode for direct electrolysis of wastewater with circumneutral pH in a single-compartment cell.In dilute(0.1 M)NaCl solutions, the NFI/TiO_(2) marks superior activity and selectivity for chlorine evolution reaction, outperforming the benchmark IrO_(2).Robust operation in near-neutral pH was confirmed.Electroanalyses including operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy unveiled crucial roles of TiO_(2) which serves both as the primary site for Cl−chemisorption and a protective layer for NFI as an ohmic contact.Galvanostatic electrolysis of NH4+-laden synthetic wastewater demonstrated that NFI/TiO_(2)not only achieves quasi-stoichiometric NH_(4)^(+)-to-N_(2)conversion,but also enhances H_(2)generation efficiency with minimal competing reactions such as reduction of dissolved oxygen and reactive chlorine. The scaled-up WEC with NFI/TiO_(2)was demonstrated for electrolysis of toilet wastewater.

文摘Based on the concept of“Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”,Chinese government is relying on the ecological and environmental characteristics of cities,in combination with modern ecological, economic, and sociological theories,to achieve sustainable urban development. However, the value realization of ecological products(EP)faces challenges in four major aspects:quantification, trading, transformation, and sustainability. At this stage, seeking breakthroughs to form a stable development path for the realization of the value of EPs is crucial. This paper examines the Guilin Sustainable Development Innovation Demonstration Zone and conducts a case study on oil tea,a characteristic EP.Based on the value realization of EPs,this paper analyzes the oil tea industry in terms of three functions:ecological protection, regional economic development, and traditional cultural support.Drawing on the theory of the gross ecosystem product, this paper examines the role of the value realization of oil tea in improving the quality of the urban living environment and ecosystem functions in Guilin. The results can help promote research on the shaping effects of endemic EPs on sustainable development with respect to the urban economy.Taking a human-centered perspective, the principles of landsenses ecology and traditional ecological knowledge can help analyze the social, historical, and cultural value of oil tea.Combined with on-site research data,a relationship map centered on oil tea culture is created to explore the importance of developing traditional cultural attributes of local EPs in promoting cultural customs, protecting the cultural diversity of ethnic minorities, and driving the development of the cultural tourism industry.By constructing a sustainable urban development model centered on developing local characteristic EPs with the core elements of ecology-economy-traditional culture, this paper aims to strengthen the ecological protection function of cities, promote high-quality economic development, and enhance the soft power of traditional culture. It provides scientific support for the sustainable development planning in Guilin.

文摘On-time mapping dynamics of crop area, yield, and production is important for global food security.Such information, however,is often not available. Here,we used satellite information,a spectral-phenology integration approach for mapping crop area, and a machine learning model for predicting yield in the war-stricken Ukraine. We found that in Ukraine crop area and production declined in 2022 relative to 2017–2021 and 2021 for wintertriticeae crops, which was invaded before the cropping season in February of that year.At the same time, crop area and production for rapeseed increased in Ukraine, with yields consistently lower by 6.5%relative to 2021.The low precipitation and the Russian-Ukrainian conflict-related factors contributed to such yield variations by-1.3%and-0.9%for winter-triticeae crops and-4.2%and-0.5%for rapeseed in 2022.We demonstrate a robust framework for monitoring country-wide crop production dynamics in near real-time,serving as an early-foodsecurity-warning system.

文摘To address the challenges associated with existing separated zone oil production technologies, such as incompatibility with pump inspection operations, short effective working life, and poor communication reliability,an innovative electromagnetic coupling intelligent zonal oil production technology has been proposed. The core and accessory tools have been developed and applied in field tests. This technology employs a pipe string structure incorporation a release sub, which separates the production and allocation pipe strings. When the two strings are docked downhole, electromagnetic coupling enables close-range wireless transmission of electrical power and signals between the strings, powering multiple downhole intelligent production allocators(IPAs)and enabling two-way communication.Core tools adapted to the complex working conditions downhole were developed, including downhole electricity&signal transmission equipment based on electromagnetic coupling(EST),IPAs,and ground communication controllers(GCCs).Accessory tools, including large-diameter release sub anchor and cable-crossing packers, have also been technically finalized.Field tests conducted on ten wells in Daqing Oilfield demonstrated that the downhole docking of the two strings was convenient and reliable, and the EST worked stably.Real-time monitoring of flow rate, pressure and temperature in separate layers and regulation of zonal fluid production were also achieved. This technology has enhanced reservoir understanding and achieved practical production results of increased oil output with reduced water cut.
