To self-consistently characterize the spectral features of energetic particles, here we propose a novel extended pan-spectrum(EPS) formula to fit the particle energy-flux spectrum, which has the merit that can incorporate many commonly used spectrum functions with one spectral transition, including the pan-spectrum, double-power-law, Kappa, Ellison-Ramaty(ER) functions, etc. The formula can also determine the spectral shape with two spectral transitions, including the triple-power-law function, Kappa distribution(at low energy)plus power law(at high energy), power law(at low energy) plus ER function, etc. Considering the uncertainties in both J and E, we can fit this EPS formula well to the representative energy spectra of various particle phenomena in space, including solar energetic particles(electrons, protons, ~3He and heavier ions), anomalous cosmic rays, solar wind suprathermal particles(halo and superhalo electrons;pick-up ions and the suprathermal tail), etc. Therefore, the EPS fitting can help us self-consistently determine the spectral features of different particle phenomena, and improve our understanding of the physical nature of the origin, acceleration, and transportation of energetic particles in space.展开更多

However, in traditional PSO, particles primarily update based on two extreme values: personal best and global best, which limits the diversity of information. Ideally, particles should learn from multiple advantageous particles to enhance interactivity and optimization efficiency. Accordingly, this paper proposes a PSO that simulates the evolutionary dynamics of species survival in mountain peak ecology (PEPSO) for feature selection. Based on the pyramid topology, the algorithm simulates the features of mountain peak ecology in nature and the competitive-cooperative strategies among species. According to the principles of the algorithm, the population is first adaptively divided into many subgroups based on the fitness level of particles. Then, particles within each subgroup are divided into three different types based on their evolutionary levels, employing different adaptive inertia weight rules and dynamic learning mechanisms to define distinct learning modes. Consequently, all particles play their respective roles in promoting the global optimization performance of the algorithm, similar to different species in the ecological pattern of mountain peaks. Experimental validation of the PEPSO performance was conducted on 18 public datasets. The experimental results demonstrate that the PEPSO outperforms other PSO variant-based feature selection methods and mainstream feature selection methods based on intelligent optimization algorithms in terms of overall performance in global search capability, classification accuracy, and reduction of feature space dimensions. Wilcoxon signed-rank test also confirms the excellent performance of the PEPSO.展开更多

Therefore, the EPS fitting can help us self-consistently determine the spectral features of different particle phenomena, and improve our understanding of the physical nature of the origin, acceleration, and transportation of energetic particles in space.

文摘This study aims to develop a high-precision and cost-efficient method for the threedimensional reconstruction of large particles in natural gravel and blasted rock fragments, utilizing Structure from Motion(SfM)and Multi-View Stereo(MVS)techniques. The proposed approach was applied to characterize the three-dimensional morphology of rockfill dam materials at a real construction site.Particle shape was quantitatively analyzed using shape indices of sphericity, convexity, and angularity. The predominant morphology of natural gravel is characterized as slightly elongated and slightly flat, while rock fragments are slightly elongated and not flat.Probability density distributions of shape indices follow a skewed normal distribution:sphericity and convexity show leftward skewness, whereas angularity is right-skewed.Skewness parameters of sphericity and angularity are consistent between natural gravel and blasted rock fragments, indicating comparable shape asymmetry.Convexity skewness is significantly higher in natural gravel compared to rock fragments,by approximately an order of magnitude. The relationship between size and particle shape shows that form ratios and associated shape descriptors change linearly with the logarithm of size;larger particles approach spherical or cubic forms. The innovative measurements contribute to the particle shape data set of rockfill dam materials, providing valuable insights into the three-dimensional and statistical morphological characteristics of relatively large particles in natural gravel and blasted rock fragments. This approach enhances understanding of particle morphology's impact on the mechanical behavior of granular materials.

文摘The interaction between extreme waves and structures is a crucial study area in marine science,as it significantly influences safety and disaster prevention strategies for marine and coastal engineering. To investigate the flow field of a semi-submersible against extreme waves,a model simulating solitary wave interactions with the semi-submersible system was developed via the meshless smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)method and Rayleigh’s theory.Notably, the wave surface and wave load results obtained from the SPH model, compared with those of OpenFOAM,result in an interaction test case between solitary waves and partially submerged rectangular obstacles and show good agreement, with a maximum relative error of 3.4%.An analysis of the calculated results of the semi-submersible facing solitary waves revealed several key findings:overtopping, which decreases with increasing water depth, occurs on the structure when the non-submerged ratio is 0.33 and the wave height surpasses 0.2 m.The transmission coefficient decreases with increasing wave height but increases as the water depth increases.Furthermore, the reflection coefficient peaks at a wave height H0=0.2 m.The dissipation coefficient displays a valley trend with a small water depth, whereas it increases monotonically with increasing water depth. The dissipation coefficient decreases with increasing water depth.
文摘In recent years, particle swarm optimization (PSO) has received widespread attention in feature selection due to its simplicity and potential for global search. Wilcoxon signed-rank test also confirms the excellent performance of the PEPSO.
文摘Restructuring of power market not only introduces competition but also brings complexity which increases overloading of Transmission Lines(TL).To obviate this complexity, this paper aims to mitigate the overloading and estimate the optimal location of Static Synchronous Compensator(STATCOM) by reducing congestion for a deregulated power system. The proposed method is based on the use of Locational Marginal Price(LMP) difference technique and congestion cost.LMPs are obtained as a by-product of Optimal Power Flow(OPF),whereas Congestion Cost(CC) is a function of difference in LMP and power flows. The effiectiveness of this approach is demonstrated by reducing the CC and solution space which can identify the TLs more suitable for placement of STATCOM.Importantly, total real power loss, reactive power loss and total CC are the three main objective functions in this optimization process. The process is implemented by developing an IEEE-69 bus test system which verifies and validates the effectiveness of proposed optimization technique.Additionally,a comparative analysis is enumerated by implementing two optimization techniques:Flower Pollination Algorithm(FPA) and Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO).The comparative analysis is sufficient to demonstrate the superiority of FPA technique over PSO technique in estimating an optimal placement of a STATCOM.The results from the load-flow analysis illustrate the reduction in CC,total real and reactive power loss using FPA technique compared to PSO technique.Overall, satisfactory results are obtained without using complex calculations which verify the effectiveness of optimization techniques.

文摘The insufficient damping capabilities of aluminum alloy under low temperatures(<120℃)were addressed by developing high-damping laminated composites of NiTip/5052Al.This is achieved through the incorporation of varied pre-aging states of NiTi particles into the 5052Al matrix using a rolling composite technique. The aim is to enhance the application scope of aluminum alloy for vibration and noise reduction. The results demonstrated a distinct and integrated interface between the particle layer and the 5052Al alloy, with numerous interparticle interfaces within the particle layer.Increasing the aging temperature of the NiTi particles from 450 to 550℃ shifted the phase transition peaks of the composites to lower temperatures. The damping capacity of the laminated NiTip/5052Al composites notably surpasses that of the 5052Al alloy. At 28 and 66℃,the phase transformation damping peaks of the pre-aged NiTi particle layer reinforced 5052Al matrix composites are 1.93 and 2 times those of the 5052Al alloy at the corresponding temperatures, respectively. The collaborative impact of interparticle interface damping mechanism and the phase transformation damping mechanism of NiTi-reinforced particles significantly amplify the low-temperature damping performance of the laminated NiTip/5052Al composites.

文摘A discontinuous smoothed particle hydrodynamics(DSPH)method considering block contacts is originally developed to model the cracking, frictional slip and large deformation in rock masses, and is verified by theoretical, numerical and/or experimental results. In the DSPH method, cracking is realized by breaking the virtual bonds via a pseudo-spring method based on Mohr–Coulomb failure criteria. The damaged particles are instantaneously replaced by discontinuous particles and the contact bond between the original and discontinuous particles is formed to simulate the frictional slip and separation/contraction between fracture surfaces based on the block contact algorithm. The motion of rock blocks and the contact force of discontinuous particles are determined following Newton's second law.The results indicate that the DSPH method precisely captures the cracking, contact formation and complete failure across six numerical benchmark tests. This single smoothed particle hydrodynamics(SPH)framework could significantly improve computational efficiency and is potentially applicable to broad multi-physical rock engineering problems of different scales.
文摘Using traditional particle tracking velocimetry based on optical flow for measuring areas with large velocity gradient changes may cause oversmoothing, resulting in significant measurement errors. To address this problem, the traditional particle tracking velocimetry method based on an optical flow was improved. The level set segmentation algorithm was used to obtain the boundary contour of the region with large velocity gradient changes, and the non-uniform flow field was divided into regions according to the boundary contour to obtain sub-regions with uniform velocity distribution. The particle tracking velocimetry method based on optical flow was used to measure the granular flow velocity in each sub-region,thus avoiding the problem of granular flow distribution. The simulation results show that the measurement accuracy of this method is approximately 10%higher than that of traditional methods. The method was applied to a velocity measurement experiment on dense granular flow in silos, and the velocity distribution of the granular flow was obtained, verifying the practicality of the method in granular flow fields.
文摘The motion of an elliptical rigid particle in a lid-driven cavity flow was numerically simulated using the immersed boundary lattice Boltzmann method(IB-LBM).The effects of the particle's initial orientation angle, initial position, aspect ratio, and size on the motion characteristics were investigated. The computational results indicate that the particle's motion undergoes two distinct stages:a starting stage that involves moving from the release position to a limit cycle, and a periodic stage that involves moving on the limit cycle. The initial orientation of the particle has a minimal impact on both stages of motion. In contrast, the time it takes for the particle to reach the limit cycle may vary depending on the release position.Furthermore, particles with a larger aspect ratio exhibit a greater maximum velocity magnitude;an increase in particle size causes the particle trajectory to contract more toward the center of the cavity, decreasing the centrifugal force experienced by the particle.

文摘The energetic particle detector on China's space station can determine the energy, flux, and direction of medium-and highenergy protons, electrons, heavy ions, and neutrons within the path of the station's orbit. It also assesses the linear energy transfer(LET)spectra and radiation dose rates generated by these particles. Neutron detection is a significant component of this work, utilizing a new type of Cs_(2)LiYCl_(6): Ce scintillator material along with plastic scintillators as sensors. In-orbit testing has demonstrated the efficient identification of space neutrons and gamma rays(n/γ). This data plays a crucial role in supporting manned space engineering, scientific research, and other related fields.

文摘Radiant syngas cooler(RSC)is widely used as a waste heat recovery equipment in industrial gasification. In this work,an RSC with radiation screens is established and the impact of gaseous radiative property models, gas components, and ash particles on heat transfer is investigated by the numerical simulation method.Considering the syngas components and the pressure environment of the RSC,a modified weighted-sum-of-gray-gases model was developed. The modified model shows high accuracy in validation. In computational fluid dynamics simulation, the calculated steam production is only 0.63%in error with the industrial data.Compared with Smith's model, the temperature decay along the axial direction calculated by the modified model is faster.Syngas components are of great significance to heat recovery capacity, especially when the absorbing gas fraction is less than 10%.After considering the influence of particles, the outlet temperature and the proportion of radiative heat transfer are less affected, but the difference in steam output reaches 2.7 t·h^(-1).The particle deposition on the wall greatly reduces the heat recovery performance of an RSC.

文摘In this study, the installation of an airlift pump with inner diameter of 102 mm and length of 5.64 m was utilized to consider the conveying process of non-spherical coal particles with density of 1340 kg/m3 and graining 25-44.5 mm.The test results revealed that the magnitude of increase in the solid transport rate due to the changes in the three tested parameters between compressed air velocity, submergence ratio, and feeding coal possibility was not the same, which are stand in range of 20%,75%,and 40%,respectively.Hence,creating the optimal airlift pump performance is highly dependent on submergence ratio.More importantly,we measured the solid volume fraction using the method of one-way valves in order to minimize the disadvantages of conventional devices, such as fast speed camera and conductivity ring sensor. The results confirmed that the volume fraction of the solid phase in the transfer process was always less than 12%.To validate present experimental data, the existing empirical correlations together with the theoretical equations related to the multiphase flow was used. The overall agreement between the theory and experimental solid delivery results was particularly good instead of the first stage of conveying process. This drawback can be corrected by omitting the role of friction and shear stress at low air income velocity. It was also found that the model developed by Kalenik failed to predict the performance of our airlift operation in terms of the mass flow rate of the coal particles.
