BMES has been increasingly associated with specific cutaneous manifestations that may hold diagnostic and prognostic significance. Patients with BMES have reported localized erythema, dermal thickening, and induration overlying the affected joints, which are hypothesized to reflect microvascular compromise and inflammatory processes within the bone and adjacent soft tissues. Dermatologic signs are likely linked to regional hyperemia, venous stasis, and cytokine-mediated inflammation, paralleling the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying intraosseous edema. Elevated intraosseous pressure in BMES may disrupt local perfusion, resulting in ischemia-reperfusion injury and subsequent vascular leakage, which manifests in visible cutaneous changes. Pro-inflammatory mediators, such as interleukin-1β and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), central to BMES pathogenesis, may exacerbate endothelial activation, and dermal involvement. Histopathologic studies of affected skin have revealed perivascular lymphocytic infiltration and increased dermal vascularity, further supporting the theory of a shared ischemic and inflammatory pathway between bone and skin. Although MRI remains the gold standard for BMES diagnosis, recognition of these cutaneous manifestations could expedite orthopedic referral and intervention, especially in cases where imaging is delayed or symptoms are ambiguous. Current treatment options, including bisphosphonates, prostacyclin analogs, and offloading of weight bearing, may benefit from integration with dermatologic strategies to alleviate localized cutaneous symptoms and improve patient comfort. Evaluating the molecular and vascular links between BMES and its cutaneous manifestations provides an opportunity to refine diagnostic protocols and therapeutic approaches, offering a comprehensive understanding of the systemic interplay between dermal and skeletal pathophysiology, and optimizing clinical outcomes for patients affected by BMES.展开更多

Additionally, the imaging appearance of schwannomas resembles that of neurofibromas, making it difficult to distinguish between the two. Therefore, the clinical diagnosis and treatment of schwannomas may face certain challenges. The management and prognosis of neurilemmomas differ from their malignant counterparts, making correct diagnosis important. Objective: This study evaluates the clinical and histopathological characteristics of 45 cases of neurilemmoma. Methods: This retrospective study involves 45 cases diagnosed with cutaneous neurilemmoma at the Seventh Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University between April 2020 and September 2024. All cases were retrieved from medical records. Results: The age range of the 45 patients was 23 to 73 years, with a male to female ratio of 1.6:1. Over half the cases occurred in individuals aged 30 to 59, with most lesions found in the extremities, predominantly in the lower limbs. Disease duration varied from 7 days to 20 years. All tumors were solitary, with diameters ranging from 0.8 cm to 8 cm. Most tumors (33/45, 73.33%) were asymptomatic, though some patients experienced symptoms like pain and numbness. Mass was the most common clinical diagnosis (33/45, 73.33%). Five patients had suspected neurilemmomas prior to surgery. Immunohistochemical staining revealed all positive results for S-100 and SOX-10 markers, while EMA staining showed a negative rate of 93.33%. Most Ki-67 values (19/23, 82.6%) were less than or equal to 5%. Conclusion: The diversity of clinical features, pathological manifestations, and immunohistochemical results of schwannoma poses a challenge to accurate diagnosis. A comprehensive understanding of its clinical and pathological characteristics is essential for accurate diagnosis, and when combined with immunohistochemical analysis, it helps avoid misdiagnosis.展开更多

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that melanoma incidence has increased by approximately 50% over the past three decades. While SCC and BCC are generally less aggressive than melanoma, they contribute significantly to the overall burden of skin cancer due to their high prevalence. Traditional treatment modalities for these malignancies, such as surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy, have shown limitations in achieving durable responses and minimizing systemic toxicity. As a result, there is an increasing need for more effective and less toxic treatment options. Immunotherapeutic strategies have emerged as a promising avenue in oncology, with the potential to revolutionize treatment approaches for cutaneous malignancies. Objectives: This literature review aims to undertake an in-depth examination of immunotherapeutic strategies for melanoma, SCC, and BCC. Specifically, the review focuses on the role of immune checkpoint inhibitors, adoptive cell therapies, and emerging immunotherapies, assessing their impact on treatment outcomes, survival rates, and patient quality of life. Methods: A literature search was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus. The search terms included “cutaneous oncology”, “immunotherapy”, “immune checkpoint inhibitors”, “adoptive cell therapy”, “melanoma”, “cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma”, and “basal cell carcinoma”. Peer-reviewed articles published in the last 10 years that reported clinical outcomes from immunotherapy-based treatments for cutaneous malignancies were included. The studies were reviewed and analyzed based on their reported clinical outcomes, including survival rates, adverse events, and quality of life metrics. Results: Our review identified significant advancements in immunotherapeutic strategies for cutaneous oncology. Immune checkpoint inhibitors, such as pembrolizumab and nivolumab, demonstrated improved overall survival rates, particularly in melanoma patients. In addition, adoptive cell therapies, including tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapies, showed promise in managing both cutaneous SCC and BCC, with reported reductions in tumor burden and durable responses. Emerging immunotherapies, such as cancer vaccines and oncolytic viruses, are in early clinical trials but exhibit potential in enhancing antitumor immunity and expanding treatment options. Conclusions: Immunotherapeutic strategies represent a critical advancement in the management of cutaneous malignancies, offering improved outcomes compared to traditional therapies. Immune checkpoint inhibitors and adoptive cell therapies are already reshaping clinical practice, while emerging immunotherapies provide exciting avenues for future research. These therapies not only enhance survival rates but also reduce systemic toxicities, representing a transformative approach to treating skin cancer. Further research and clinical trials are needed to refine these strategies and expand their applicability to a broader patient population.展开更多

The objective of this case series is to report clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of various forms of cutaneous endometriosis. Material and Methods: It was an observational, retrospective and descriptive review of cases presenting with cutaneous endometriosis among Cameroonian women managed at the gynaecological outpatient department of Yaounde Gynaeco-Obstetric and Pediatric Hospital. All the following parameters were analysed: age, parity, previous pelvic surgery, presenting symptoms and duration, associated symptoms, localizations, imaging, size of the lesion, other localization of endometriosis, management and histopathological results. Results: we reported 4 cases of cutaneous endometriosis, with 3 umbilical endometriosis and 1 abdominal scar endometriosis. Patient age ranged from 28 to 39 years with an average of 33 years. All patients described infertility (two primary and two secondary) and two had a history of abdominal surgery. All patients presented local cyclical signs such as pain, swelling, color change and bleeding. The duration of symptoms varied from 2 to 3 years and the size of lesions ranged from 2 to 3.5 cm for umbilical lesions and was 9 cm for abdominal scar endometriosis. In all cases, no imaging was required for the diagnosis, which was suspected on the basis of patient’s history and the cyclical nature of local signs, followed by wide surgical excision and confirmation on histopathology. Conclusion: Cutaneaous endometriosis is a rare benign condition. Umbilical endometriosis seems to be the main cutaneous localization and can be described as primary or secondary. Even if its diagnosis must be confirmed by histopathology, it should be considered in patient with cutaneous cyclic signs such as pain, swelling or bleeding with or without history of abdominal surgery.展开更多

It is caused by invasion of the skin by the parasitic larvae of hookworms which, after entry, move under the skin causing an inflammatory reaction resulting in a single or multiple tracks. Patients commonly present with a progressive, itchy, erythematous serpiginous skin rash, affecting the feet, although it can affect any other parts of the body. The diagnosis is mainly clinical, based on history and physical examination. Treatment of this condition can effectively be achieved with either albendazole or ivermectin. We present a case of a 7-year-old boy who was diagnosed with CLM after presenting to the hospital with a history of a progressive itchy rash with tracks on the left foot. Although CLM is a self-limiting disease, it causes a lot of suffering and, therefore, it is of public concern. There is a need to increase awareness of this disease among health workers, and to implement and promote preventive measures against the disease since the cause is known.展开更多

Osteon...The intersection of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) and osteonecrosis highlights a complex relationship between dermatologic and orthopedic pathology, underscoring the systemic nature of autoimmune disease. Osteonecrosis, characterized by ischemic bone death and subsequent joint degeneration, is a known complication in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but emerging evidence suggests that CLE manifestations may serve as early indicators or contributory factors in its development. Chronic inflammation and microvascular injury, central to CLE pathophysiology, may predispose affected patients to compromised bone perfusion and ischemia, particularly in weight-bearing joints such as the hips and knees. Dermatologic signs, including persistent erythema, ulceration, or livedo reticularis, may reflect underlying vascular dysfunction that extends beyond the skin to subchondral bone, accelerating osteonecrotic processes. The role of autoantibodies, such as antiphospholipid antibodies, and their contribution to thrombotic microangiopathy in CLE further supports this potential mechanistic link. Early recognition of CLE-related vascular changes could guide orthopedic surveillance strategies, enabling timely imaging with MRI to detect early osteonecrosis before irreversible joint damage occurs. Therapeutic interventions for CLE, including corticosteroids and immunosuppressive agents, may inadvertently exacerbate osteonecrosis risk, necessitating careful balancing of treatment efficacy with preservation of joint health. Advances in vascular-targeted therapies and bone-preserving interventions, such as bisphosphonates or regenerative techniques, offer potential avenues for mitigating joint degeneration in this patient population. Understanding the bidirectional relationship between CLE and osteonecrosis provides an opportunity for dermatologists and orthopedists to collaborate on predictive, preventive, and therapeutic strategies that preserve joint function and improve quality of life for affected individuals.展开更多

Indications for endoscopic OTSC® treatment have grown in number and also include gastro cutaneous fistula (GCF) after percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube removal. Non-healing GCF is a rare complication after removal of PEG tubes and may especially develop in immunosuppressed patients with multiple comorbidities. There is growing evidence in the literature that OTSC® closure of GCF after PEG tube removal is emerging as an effective, simple and safe endoscopic treatment option. However current evidence is limited to the geriatric population and short standing GCF, while information on closure of long standing GCF after PEG tube removal in a younger population with significant comorbidities is lacking. In this retrospective single-center case-series we report on five patients undergoing OTSC® closure of chronic GCF after PEG tube removal. Four out of five patients were afflicted with long lasting, symptomatic fistulae. All five patients suffered from chronic disease associated with a catabolic metabolism (cystic fibrosis, chemotherapy for neoplasia, liver cirrhosis). The mean patient age was 43 years. The mean dwell time of PEG tubes in all five patients was 808 d. PEG tube dwell time was shortest in patient 5 (21 d). The mean duration from PEG tube removal to fistula closure in patients 1-4 was 360 d (range 144-850 d). The intervention was well tolerated by all patients and no adverse events occured. Successful immediate and long-term fistula closure was accomplished in all five patients. This single center case series is the first to show successful endoscopic OTSC® closure of long lasting GCF in five consecutive middle-aged patients with significant comorbidities. Endoscopic closure of chronic persistent GCF after PEG tube removal using an OTSC® was achieved in all patients with no immediate or long-term complications. OTSC® is a promising endoscopic treatment option for this condition with a potentially high immediate and long term success rate in patients with multiple comorbidities.展开更多

METHODS Thirty patients with cutaneous B-cell lymphoma (CBCL) were treated by cutaneous irradiation based on the number and location of the lesions and the stage of their tumor. Treatment was conducted using a Satume Clinac. RESULTS A complete response (CR) from the treatment for our series was 86%. The length of complete remission ranged from 4 to 301 months. Three patients (11%) developed a partial response (PR). One patient was progressive. Disease-free survival(DFS) at 10 years was 87%. Three patiens died [One PCMZL two PCLBCL leg type (29%)]. Radiotherapy was generally well tolerated. CONCLUSION According to the WHO/EORTC classification, the survivor results were good for PCMZL and PCFCL. The PCLBCL leg type had a poor prognosis. Localized field irradiation is an effective treatment for some localized forms of primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma, and this mode of therapy can produce prolonged remissions. The patients with wide-spread skin involvement are usually candidates for extended field irradiation and/or chemotherapy. For advanced stages of cutaneous B-cell lymphoma, where chemotherapy is the treatment of choice, a degree of palliation can be achieved using local field irradation.展开更多

Safety standards for low-frequency range are based on experimental results of current thresholds of electrocutaneous sensations, which however show a wide range between about 50 pA (rms) and 1000 μA (rms). In order to be able to explain these differences, the perception threshold was measured repeatedly in experiments with test persons under identical experimental setup, but by means of different methods (measuring strategies), namely: direct adjustment, classical threshold as amperage of 50% perception probability, and confidence rating procedure of signal detection theory. The current is injected using a I cm2 electrode at the highly touch sensitive part of the index fingertip. These investigations show for the first time that the threshold of electrocutaneous sensations is influenced both by adaptation to the non-adequate stimulus and individual, emotional factors. Theretbre, classical methods, on which the majority of the safety investigations are based, cannot be used to determine a leakage current threshold. The confidence rating procedure of the modem signal detection theory yields a value of 179.5 μA (rms) at 50 Hz power supply net frequency as the lower end of the 95% confidence range considering the variance in the investigated group. This value is expected to be free of adaptation influences, and is distinctly lower than the European limits and supports the stricter regulations of Canada and USA.展开更多

We have previously shown that vascular reactivity is reduced with increasing age. In this study, we examined a group of very old patients with severe chronic heart failure to test the hypothesis that vascular function is further compromised by a combination of heart failure and aging. Methods Cutaneous forearm blood flow was measured by laser Doppler flowmetry and compared among three groups: Group 1 (n = 20, mean ±SE: 85.5 ±4 years), heart failure patients with New York Heart Association class Ⅳ (NYHA Ⅳ) and with a NT-proBNP level ≥5000 ng/L; Group 2 (n = 15, mean ±SE: 76.5 ±2 years), heart failure patients with NYHA II and NT-proBNP ≤2000 ng/L, and Group 3 (n = 10, mean ±SE: 67.6 ±3.0 years), healthy controls with no clinical signs of heart failure. The vasodilator response to the iontophoretic administration of acetylcholine (ACh), acting via an endothelial mechanism, and sodium nitroprusside (SNP), acting via a smooth muscle cell mechanism, were studied. Results All patients with heart failure had significantly reduced vascular reactivity independent of the mode of stimulation (ACh, SNP or heat) when compared to healthy controls. However, the responses did not differ between the two groups of heart failure patients. Conclusions Cutaneous vascular reactivity is reduced in heart failure patients and does not correlate with the severity of the condition or age of patients.展开更多

Sampling, preparing, developing, and fixing of suspicious skin lesions were completed in healthcare centers in 31 Iranian provinces as well as in the Academic Reference Laboratory and the National Reference Laboratory. The information was then analyzed at the Ministry of Health's Information Management Center of Contagious Diseases. Results: Over a three-year period, the number of people identified with CL was 56 546.The highest incidence was reported in 2011(27.5 per 100 000). Wet CL accounted for 43.7% of cases while 43.3% resulted from sporotrichoid leishmaniasis. The results showed that there was a higher incidence of CL due to Leishmania major(50.2%) than to Leishmania tropica. The results of this study found that the highest incidence of CL had happened respectively in Ilam, Fars and, Khorasan Razavi Provinces between 2011 and 2013.Conclusions: Although the incidence of the disease is declining, CL is still a public health concern and disease control protocols need to be established. Therefore, further studies are needed to identify the vectors, reservoirs, and disease species as well as to develop appropriate disease control strategies.展开更多

However, clinical studies including long-term follow-up data after cutaneous nerve injury of the foot and ankle are lacking. In the current retrospective study, we analyzed the clinical data of 279 patients who underwent foot and ankle surgery. Subjects who suffered from apparent paresthesia in the cutaneous sensory nerve area after surgery were included in the study. Pa- tients received oral vitamin B^2 and methylcobalamin. We examined final follow-up data of 17 patients, including seven with sural nerve injury, five with superficial peroneal nerve injury, and five with plantar medial cutaneous nerve injury. We assessed nerve sensory function using the Medical Research Council Scale. Follow-up immediately, at 6 weeks, 3, 6 and 9 months, and 1 year after surgery demonstrated that sensory function was gradually restored in most patients within 6 months. However, recovery was slow at 9 months. There was no significant difference in sensory function between 9 months and 1 year after surgery. Painful neuromas occurred in four patients at 9 months to 1 year. The results demonstrated that the recovery of sensory func- tion in patients with various cutaneous nerve injuries after foot and ankle surgery required at least 6 months.展开更多

Methods:Sand flies were collected using sticky papers and mounted in Puri’s medium for species identification.Rodents were trapped by live Sherman traps. Both sand flies and rodents were subjected to molecular methods for detection of leishmanial parasite. Results:Phlebotomus papatasi(P.papatasi) was the common species in outdoor and indoor resting places.Employing PCR technique only three specimens of 150 P.papatasi(2%) were found naturally infected by parasites with a band of 350 bp which is equal to the L major parasite.Forty six rodents were captured by Sherman traps and identified.Microscopic investigation on blood smear of the animals for amastigote parasites revealed 1(3.22%) infected Meriones libycus(M.libycus). Infection of this animal to L.major was confirmed by PCR against rDNA loci of the parasite. Conclusions:This is the first molecular report of parasite infection of both vector(P.papatasi) and reservoir(M.libycus) to L major in the region. The results indicated that P.papatasi was the primary vector of the disease and circulating the parasite between human and reservoirs and M. libycus was the most important host reservoir for maintenance of the parasite source in the area.展开更多
文摘Bone marrow edema syndrome (BMES), is a rare and self-limiting condition characterized by localized bone pain and transient marrow edema visible on MRI. Evaluating the molecular and vascular links between BMES and its cutaneous manifestations provides an opportunity to refine diagnostic protocols and therapeutic approaches, offering a comprehensive understanding of the systemic interplay between dermal and skeletal pathophysiology, and optimizing clinical outcomes for patients affected by BMES.

文摘Antibody-drug conjugates(ADCs)are a new type of targeting antibodies that conjugate with highly toxic anticancer drugs via chemical linkers to exert high specificity and efficient killing of tumor cells, thereby attracting considerable attention in precise oncology therapy.Cetuximab(Cet)is a typical antibody that offers the benefits of good targeting and safety for individuals with advanced and inoperable cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma(cSCC);however, its anti-tumor activity is limited to a single use.Cisplatin(CisPt)shows good curative effects;however, its adverse effects and non-tumor-targeting ability are major drawbacks. In this study,we designed and developed a new ADC based on a new cytotoxic platinum(IV)prodrug(C8Pt(IV))and Cet.The so-called antibody-platinum(IV)prodrugs conjugates, named Cet-C8Pt(IV),showed excellent tumor targeting in cSCC.Specifically,it accurately delivered C8Pt(IV)into tumor cells to exert the combined anti-tumor effect of Cet and CisPt.Herein, metabolomic analysis showed that Cet-C8Pt(IV)promoted cellular apoptosis and increased DNA damage in cSCC cells by affecting the vitamin B6 metabolic pathway in tumor cells, thereby further enhancing the tumor-killing ability and providing a new strategy for clinical cancer treatment using antibody-platinum(IV)prodrugs conjugates.
文摘BACKGROUND Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma(PC-ALCL)poses significant diagnostic difficulties due to its similarity in the appearance of skin lesions with chronic inflammatory disorders and other dermatological conditions. This study aims to investigate these challenges by conducting a comprehensive analysis of a case presenting with PC-ALCL,emphasizing the necessity of accurate differentiation for appropriate management.CASE SUMMARY An 89-year-old female patient with diabetes and hypertension presented with arm and abdominal ulcerated mass lesions.Diagnostic procedures included skin biopsies, histopathological assessments, and immunohistochemistry, complemented by advanced imaging techniques to confirm the diagnosis. The patient’s lesions were determined as PC-ALCL,characterized by necrosis, chronic inflammation, and a distinct immunophenotypic profile, including CD30,CD3,CD4,and EBER,CD56,MUM-1,Ki 67-positive in>80%of tumor cells,CD10,but negative for anaplastic lymphoma kinase,CD5,CD20,PAX-5,Bcl-2,Bcl-6,CD8,and CD15.Recurrence was not reported at the 6-month follow-up.CONCLUSION Accurate PC-ALCL differentiation from similar conditions is crucial for effective management and requires a multidisciplinary approach.

文摘BACKGROUND Anterior cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome(ACNES)is a condition mani-festing with pain caused by strangulation of the anterior cutaneous branch of the lower intercostal nerves. This case report aims to provide new insight into the selection of peripheral nerve blocks for the ACNES treatment.CASE SUMMARY A 66-year-old woman manifested ACNES after a robot-assisted distal gastrec-tomy.An ultrasound-guided rectal sheath block was effective for pain triggered by the port scar. However, the sudden severe pain, which radiated laterally from the previous site, remained.A transversus abdominis plane block was performed for the remaining pain and effectively relieved it.CONCLUSION In this case, the trocar port was inserted between the rectus and transverse abdominis muscles. The intercostal nerves might have been entrapped on both sides of the rectus and transversus abdominis muscles.Hence, rectus sheath and transverse abdominis plane blocks were required to achieve complete pain relief. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on use of a combination of rectus sheath and transverse abdominis plane blocks for pain relief in ACNES.
文摘Background: Neurilemmoma (Schwannomas) are the most common peripheral nerve tumors and usually do not undergo malignant transformation, except in some atypical cases. A comprehensive understanding of its clinical and pathological characteristics is essential for accurate diagnosis, and when combined with immunohistochemical analysis, it helps avoid misdiagnosis.
文摘Background: Cutaneous oncology encompasses a broad range of skin malignancies, including melanoma, cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), all of which pose significant global health challenges. Further research and clinical trials are needed to refine these strategies and expand their applicability to a broader patient population.
文摘Introduction: Cutaneous endometriosis is an uncommon but well-known skin disorder that represents about 0.5% to 1% of all endometriosis. Even if its diagnosis must be confirmed by histopathology, it should be considered in patient with cutaneous cyclic signs such as pain, swelling or bleeding with or without history of abdominal surgery.
文摘Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) is a zoonotic hookworm infection of dogs and cats commonly found in low-income countries in the tropical and subtropical regions and travellers to these regions. There is a need to increase awareness of this disease among health workers, and to implement and promote preventive measures against the disease since the cause is known.
文摘The intersection of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) and osteonecrosis highlights a complex relationship between dermatologic and orthopedic pathology, underscoring the systemic nature of autoimmune disease. Understanding the bidirectional relationship between CLE and osteonecrosis provides an opportunity for dermatologists and orthopedists to collaborate on predictive, preventive, and therapeutic strategies that preserve joint function and improve quality of life for affected individuals.
文摘Objective:To explore the effect of the Xian Fang Huo Ming Yin(XFHM)for treating cutaneous infections and promoting wound healing in patients with perianal abscesses.Methods:Sixty-one patients with perianal abscesses who were admitted to our hospital(Xinghua City People’s Hospital)from May 2022 to May 2023 were selected and randomly divided into two groups,a control group(30 cases)and a study group(31 cases). Both groups received surgical treatment. The control group received conventional treatment and warm water fumigation, sitz bath, and surgical dressing change after surgery, while the research group received XFHM based on the control group.XFHM was taken orally and replaced with warm water for fumigation and sitz bathing. Both groups received treatment for 4 weeks but discontinued sitz bathing after 2 weeks.Various clinical indicators between the two groups were compared. Results:The total clinical effective rate and wound recovery rate of the study group were higher than that of the control group. There were differences in the wound pain scores, surrounding tissue edema, and wound secretions at different time points. Both groups experienced wound pain. The scores of wound pain, surrounding tissue edema, and wound secretions of the study group were lower than those of the control group,7 and 14 days after surgery. The serum interleukin 6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)levels,and pH values of the study group were lower than those of the control group 10 days after surgery(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of XFHM for treating cutaneous infections and promoting wound healing in patients with perianal abscesses improved the treatment outcome, alleviated clinical symptoms, and promoted healing.
文摘Over-the-scope-clips (OTSC®) have been shown to be an effective and safe endoscopic treatment option for the closure of gastrointestinal perforations, leakages and fistulae. OTSC® is a promising endoscopic treatment option for this condition with a potentially high immediate and long term success rate in patients with multiple comorbidities.
文摘OBJECTIVE To report results of radiation therapy treatment of 30 B-cell lymphoma patients with an initial cutaneous presentation according to the new classification by the WHO/EORTC. For advanced stages of cutaneous B-cell lymphoma, where chemotherapy is the treatment of choice, a degree of palliation can be achieved using local field irradation.
文摘Leakage currents, tiny currents flowing from an everyday-life appliance through the body to the ground, can cause a non-adequate perception (called electrocutaneous sensation, ECS) or even pain and should be avoided. This value is expected to be free of adaptation influences, and is distinctly lower than the European limits and supports the stricter regulations of Canada and USA.

文摘Objective:Vitamin D receptor(VDR)mediates vitamin D activity. We examined whether VDR expression in excised melanoma tissues is associated with VDR gene(VDR)polymorphisms. Methods:We evaluated VDR protein expression(by monoclonal antibody immunostaining),melanoma characteristics, and carriage of VDR-Fok I-rs2228570(C>T),VDR-Bsm I-rs1544410(G>A),VDR-ApaI-rs7975232(T>G),and VDR-TaqI-rs731236(T>C)polymorphisms(by restriction fragment length polymorphism).Absence or presence of restriction site was denoted by a capital or lower letter, respectively:"F"and"f"for Fok I,"B"and"b"for Bsm I,"A"and"a"for ApaI,and "T"and"t"for TaqI endonuclease.Seventy-four Italian cutaneous primary melanomas(52.1±12.7 years old)were studied;51.4% were stage Ⅰ,21.6% stage Ⅱ ,13.5% stage Ⅲ,and 13.5% stage Ⅳ melanomas.VDR expression was categorized as follows:100% positive vs.<100%;over the median 20%(high VDR expression)vs.≤20%(low VDR expression);absence vs.presence of VDR-expressing cells. Results:Stage I melanomas,Breslow thickness of<1.00 mm,level II Clark invasion,Aa heterozygous genotype, and AaTT combined genotype were more frequent in melanomas with high vs.low VDR expression.Combined genotypes BbAA,bbAa,AATt,BbAATt,and bbAaTT were more frequent in 100%vs.<100%VDR-expressing cells.Combined genotype AATT was more frequent in melanomas lacking VDR expression(odds ratio=14.5;P=0.025).VDR expression was not associated with metastasis,ulceration,mitosis>1,regression,tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, tumoral infiltration of vascular tissues, additional skin and non-skin cancers, and melanoma familiarity. Conclusions:We highlighted that VDR polymorphisms can affect VDR expression in excised melanoma cells.Low VDR expression in AATT carriers is a new finding that merits further study.VDR expression possibly poses implications for vitamin D supplementation against melanoma.VDR expression and VDR genotype may become precise medicinal tools for melanoma in the future.
文摘Background Chronic congestive heart failure is a complex condition that leads to dysfunction in the peripheral microcirculation. Conclusions Cutaneous vascular reactivity is reduced in heart failure patients and does not correlate with the severity of the condition or age of patients.
文摘Objective: To examine the prevalence and clinical manifestations of cutaneous leishmaniasis(CL) in Iran. Methods: This study was conducted in Iran between 2011 and 2013. Therefore, further studies are needed to identify the vectors, reservoirs, and disease species as well as to develop appropriate disease control strategies.
文摘Cutaneous nerve injury is the most common complication following foot and ankle surgery. The results demonstrated that the recovery of sensory func- tion in patients with various cutaneous nerve injuries after foot and ankle surgery required at least 6 months.

文摘Objective:To determine the sand flies species responsible for most transmission of Leishmania major(L major) to human,as well as to determine the main reservoir hosts of the disease. The results indicated that P.papatasi was the primary vector of the disease and circulating the parasite between human and reservoirs and M. libycus was the most important host reservoir for maintenance of the parasite source in the area.
