In order to explore the main source areas of surface dust emission and quantify the impacts of human activities on surface dust emission, we investigated the surface dust emission of different land types on the Erenhot-Huailai zone by model simulation, field observation, and comparative analysis. The results showed that the average annual inhalable atmospheric particles(PM_(10)) dust emission fluxes in arid grassland, Hunshandake Sandy Land, semi-arid grassland,semi-arid agro-pastoral area, dry sub-humid agro-pastoral area, and semi-humid agro-pastoral area were 4.41, 0.71, 3.64, 1.94, 0.24, and 0.14 t/hm^(2), respectively, and dust emission in these lands occurred mainly from April to May. Due to the influence of human activities on surface dust emission, dust emission fluxes from different land types were 1.66–4.41 times greater than those of their background areas, and dust emission fluxes from the main dust source areas were 1.66–3.89 times greater than those of their background areas. According to calculation, the amount of PM_(10) dust emission influenced by human disturbance accounted for up to 58.00% of the total dust emission in the study area. In addition, the comparative analysis of model simulation and field observation results showed that the simulated and observed dust emission fluxes were relatively close to each other, with differences ranging from 0.01 to 0.21 t/hm^(2) in different months, which indicated that the community land model version 4.5(CLM4.5) had a high accuracy. In conclusion, model simulation results have important reference significance for identifying dust source areas and quantifying the contribution of human activities to surface dust emission.展开更多

China is a major grain producing country, but thus far only a few studies have assessed the performance of GGCMs in China, and these studies mainly focused on the average and interannual variability of national and regional yields. Here, a systematic national-and provincial-scale evaluation of the simulations by13 GGCMs [12 from the GGCM Intercomparison(GGCMI) project, phase 1, and CLM5-crop] of the yields of four crops(wheat, maize, rice, and soybean) in China during 1980–2009 was carried out through comparison with crop yield statistics collected from the National Bureau of Statistics of China. Results showed that GGCMI models generally underestimate the national yield of rice but overestimate it for the other three crops, while CLM5-crop can reproduce the national yields of wheat, maize, and rice well. Most GGCMs struggle to simulate the spatial patterns of crop yields. In terms of temporal variability, GGCMI models generally fail to capture the observed significant increases, but some can skillfully simulate the interannual variability. Conversely, CLM5-crop can represent the increases in wheat, maize, and rice, but works less well in simulating the interannual variability. At least one model can skillfully reproduce the temporal variability of yields in the top-10 producing provinces in China, albeit with a few exceptions. This study, for the first time, provides a complete picture of GGCM performance in China, which is important for GGCM development and understanding the reliability and uncertainty of national-and provincial-scale crop yield prediction in China.展开更多

Field work was conducted from March to April in 2006 and 2008, and from October to November in 2005 and 2008 in Dazhong Mountain, Yunnan Province, southwestern China. The selection of ecological factors was estimated by means of a resource selection index, distance analysis and the method of hierarchical habitat selection. The foraging habitat patches were modeled spatially by ArcGIS. The results show that actual and potential foraging patches overlapped considerably in spring and autumn. The number and total areas of patches in the autumn were smaller than those in the spring. The minimum and average areas of patches in the autumn were larger than those in the spring, while the maximum areas of actual and potential foraging patches in the autumn were equal to those in the spring. Similarity in the selection for survival and safety consideration in both seasons was the main strategy for landscape factors of habitats by Hume’s Pheasant, while seasonal difference in selecting a landscape matrix was their secondary strategy, affecting landscape factors in the habitat. Changes of foraging patches in both seasons reflect a difference of resources requirement by the bird. Fragmentation and miniaturization of foraging patches would result in the formation of a meta-population of Hume’s Pheasant.展开更多

文摘Based on the hindcasts from five subseasonal-to-seasonal(S2S)models participating in the S2S Prediction Project, this study evaluates the performance of the multimodel ensemble(MME)approach in predicting the subseasonal precipitation anomalies during summer in China and reveals the contributions of possible driving factors. The results suggest that while single-model ensembles(SMEs)exhibit constrained predictive skills within a limited forecast lead time of three pentads, the MME illustrates an enhanced predictive skill at a lead time of up to four pentads, and even six pentads,in southern China.Based on both deterministic and probabilistic verification metrics, the MME consistently outperforms SMEs,with a more evident advantage observed in probabilistic forecasting. The superior performance of the MME is primarily attributable to the increase in ensemble size, and the enhanced model diversity is also a contributing factor. The reliability of probabilistic skill is largely improved due to the increase in ensemble members, while the resolution term does not exhibit consistent improvement.Furthermore, the Madden–Julian Oscillation(MJO)is revealed as the primary driving factor for the successful prediction of summer precipitation in China using the MME.The improvement by the MME is not solely attributable to the enhancement in the inherent predictive capacity of the MJO itself, but derives from its capability in capturing the more realistic relationship between the MJO and subseasonal precipitation anomalies in China. This study establishes a scientific foundation for acknowledging the advantageous predictive capability of the MME approach in subseasonal predictions of summer precipitation in China, and sheds light on further improving S2S predictions.

文摘The Erenhot-Huailai zone, as an important dust emission source area in northern China, affects the air quality of Beijing City, Tianjin City, and Hebei Province and human activities in this zone have a profound impact on surface dust emission. 文摘Through core observation, thin section identification,X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy, and low-temperature nitrogen adsorption and isothermal adsorption experiments, the lithology and pore characteristics of the Upper Carboniferous bauxite series in eastern Ordos Basin were analyzed to reveal the formation and evolution process of the bauxite reservoirs.A petrological nomenclature and classification scheme for bauxitic rocks based on three units(aluminum hydroxides, iron minerals and clay minerals)is proposed. It is found that bauxitic mudstone is in the form of dense massive and clastic structures, while the(clayey)bauxite is of dense massive, pisolite, oolite, porous soil and clastic structures. Both bauxitic mudstone and bauxite reservoirs develop dissolution pores, intercrystalline pores, and microfractures as the dominant gas storage space, with the porosity less than 10% and mesopores in dominance. The bauxite series in the North China Craton can be divided into five sections,i.e.,ferrilite(Shanxi-style iron ore, section A),bauxitic mudstone(section B),bauxite(section C),bauxite mudstone(debris-containing,section D)and dark mudstone-coal section(section E).The burrow/funnel filling,lenticular,layered/massive bauxite deposits occur separately in the karst platforms, gentle slopes and low-lying areas. The karst platforms and gentle slopes are conducive to surface water leaching, with strong karstification,well-developed pores, large reservoir thickness and good physical properties, but poor strata continuity. The low-lying areas have poor physical properties but relatively continuous and stable reservoirs. The gas enrichment in bauxites is jointly controlled by source rock, reservoir rock and fractures. This recognition provides geological basis for the exploration and development of natural gas in the Upper Carboniferous in the study area and similar bauxite systems.

文摘Pronounced climatic differences occur over subtropical South China(SC)and tropical South China Sea(SCS)and understanding the key cloud-radiation characteristics is essential to simulating East Asian climate. This study investigated cloud fractions and cloud radiative effects(CREs)over SC and SCS simulated by CMIP6 atmospheric models.Remarkable differences in cloud-radiation characteristics appeared over these two regions. In observations, considerable amounts of low-middle level clouds and cloud radiative cooling effect appeared over SC.In contrast, high clouds prevailed over SCS,where longwave and shortwave CREs offset each other, resulting in a weaker net cloud radiative effect(NCRE).The models underestimated NCRE over SC mainly due to weaker shortwave CRE and less cloud fractions.Conversely, most models overestimated NCRE over SCS because of stronger shortwave CRE and weaker longwave CRE.Regional CREs were closely linked to their dominant cloud fractions. Both observations and simulations showed a negative spatial correlation between total(low)cloud fraction and shortwave CRE over SC,especially in winter, and exhibited a positive correlation between high cloud fraction and longwave CRE over these two regions.Compared with SCS,most models overestimated the spatial correlation between low(high)cloud fraction and SWCRE(LWCRE)over SC,with larger bias ranges among models, indicating the exaggerated cloud radiative cooling(warming)effect caused by low(high)clouds. Moreover, most models struggled to describe regional ascent and its connection with CREs over SC while they can better reproduce these connections over SCS.This study further suggests that reasonable circulation conditions are crucial to simulating well cloud-radiation characteristics over the East Asian regions.

文摘Conversion of dryland to paddy fields(CDPF)is an effective way to transition from rain-fed to irrigated agricul ture, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change on agriculture and increase yields to meet growing food demand. However, the suitability of CDPF is spatio-temporally dynamic but has often been neglected in previous studies. To fill this knowledge gap, this research developed a novel method for quantifying the suitability of CDPF,based on the MaxEnt model for application in Northeast China. We explored the spatiotemporal characteristics of the suitability of CDPF under the baseline scenario(2010-2020),and future projections(2030-2090)coupled with climate change and socioeconomic development scenarios(SSP126,SSP245,and SSP585),and revealed the driving factors behind it.Based on this,we identified potential priority areas for future CDPF implementation. The results show that the suitability of CDPF projects implemented in the past ten years is relatively high.Com pared with the baseline scenario, the suitability of CDPF under the future scenarios will decline overall, with the lightest decrease in the RCP585 and the most severe decrease in the RCP245.The key drivers affecting the suitability of CDPF are elevation, slope, population count, total nitrogen, soil organic carbon content, and precip itation seasonality. The potential priority areas for the future CDPF range from 6,284.61 km^(2)to 37,006.02 km^(2).These findings demonstrate the challenges of CDPF in adapting to climate change and food security, and provide insights for food-producing regions around the world facing climate crises.
文摘BACKGROUND At present, there is a lack of non-invasive indicators to evaluate the changes in endoscopic activity between two visits for patients with Crohn's disease(CD).AIM To develop a model for predicting whether endoscopic activity will improve in CD patients.METHODS This is a single-center retrospective study that included patients diagnosed with CD from January 2014 to December 2022.The patients were randomly divided into a modeling group(70%)and an internal validation group(30%),with an external validation group from January 2023 to March 2024.Univariate and binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify independent risk factors, which were used to construct a nomogram model. The model's performance was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic curves, calibration curves, and decision curve analysis(DCA).Additionally, further sensitivity analyses were performed.RESULTS One hundred seventy patients were included in the training group, while 64 were included in the external validation group.A binary logistic stepwise regression analysis revealed that the changes in the amplitudes of albumin(ALB)and fibrinogen(FIB)were independent risk factors for endoscopic improvement.A nomogram model was developed based on these risk factors. The area under the curve of the model for the training group, internal validation group, and external validation group were 0.802,0.788,and 0.787,respectively.The average absolute errors of the calibration curves were 0.011,0.016,and 0.018,respectively.DCA indicated that the model performs well in clinical practice.Additionally, sensitivity analysis demonstrated that the model has strong robustness and applicability.CONCLUSION Our study shows that changes in the amplitudes of ALB and FIB are effective predictors of endoscopic improvement in patients with CD during follow-up visits compared to their previous ones.

文摘Substantial evidence points to the early onset of peripheral inflammation in the development of Parkinson's disease(PD),supporting the“body-first”hypothesis.However,there remains a notable absence of PD-specific animal models induced by inflammatory cytokines. This study introduces a novel mouse model of PD driven by the proinflammatory cytokine CXCL1,identified in our previous research. The involvement of CXCL1 in PD pathogenesis was validated using subacute and chronic MPTP-induced mouse models.Based on these findings,2-month-old C57BL/6J mice were intravenously administered CXCL1(20 ng/kg/day)for 2 weeks(5 days per week),successfully replicating motor deficits and pathological alterations in the substantia nigra observed in the chronic MPTP model. These results demonstrate the potential of CXCL1-induced inflammation as a mechanism for PD modeling. The model revealed activation of the PPAR signaling pathway in CXCL1-mediated neuronal damage by CXCL1.Linoleic acid,a PPAR-γactivator,significantly mitigated MPTPand CXCL1-induced toxicity and reduced serum CXCL1levels.In addition, the CXCL1-injected mouse model shortened the timeline for developing chronic PD mouse model to 2 weeks, offering an efficient platform for studying inflammation-driven processes in PD.The findings provide critical insights into the inflammatory mechanisms underlying PD and identify promising therapeutic targets for intervention.

文摘Coal dependence and inefficient decentralized heating have significantly increased China’s energy consumption for winter heating, increasing air pollution and exacerbating the greenhouse effect. In 2017,China implemented the Pilot Policy on Clean Winter Heating in Northern China, aiming to achieve high central heating coverage and cleaner energy consumption.Studying the effects of this policy can help promote its implementation and serve as a reference for effective adjustment of the contents in the future. However, few studies have investigated this policy and its carbon reduction effects, and most focus on the provincial or city levels. Therefore, this paper considers the policy’s influence on air pollution and carbon emissions at the county level to provide a precise and comprehensive assessment of the policy effects. We use panel data from 1290 counties in 15 provinces in Northern China from 2014 to 2021,applying a multiperiod difference-in-differences model to quantify the impact of the policy on carbon emissions and air quality in the pilot area.We then conduct a series of tests to demonstrate the robustness of the results and analyze the mechanisms of the policy effects from two perspectives, namely, central heating and natural gas use, through a mediating effect model. Finally,we examine the heterogeneity of policy effects between counties based on geographic location and per capita income levels of rural residents through a moderating effect model. The results reveal that the policy significantly reduces air pollution and carbon emissions in the pilot area by increasing the central heating area and natural gas use.Compared with the central and western regions in the north and areas with low-income rural residents, the policy effects in the eastern regions in the north and areas with high-income rural residents are more pronounced.

文摘Alzheimer'sdisease(AD)isaprogressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive impairment and distinct neuropathological features, including amyloid-βplaques,neurofibrillary tangles, and reactive astrogliosis.Developing effective diagnostic, preventative, and therapeutic strategies for AD necessitates the establishment of animal models that accurately recapitulate the pathophysiological processes of the disease.Existing transgenic mouse models have significantly contributed to understanding AD pathology but often fail to replicate the complexity of human AD.Additionally, these models are limited in their ability to elucidate the interplay among amyloid-βplaques,neurofibrillary tangles, and reactive astrogliosis due to the absence of spatially and temporally specific genetic manipulation. In this study,we introduce a novel AD mouse model(APP/PS1-TauP301L-Adeno mice)designed to rapidly induce pathological symptoms and enhance understanding of AD mechanisms.Neurofibrillary tangles and severe reactive astrogliosis were induced by injecting AAVDJ-EF1a-hTauP301L-EGFP and Adeno-GFAP-GFP viruses into the hippocampi of 5-month-old APP/PS1 mice.Three months post-injection,these mice exhibited pronounced astrogliosis, substantial amyloid-βplaque accumulation, extensiveneurofibrillarytangles, accelerated neuronal loss, elevated astrocytic GABA levels, and significant spatial memory deficits.Notably, these pathological features were less severe in AAVTauP301L-expressing APP/PS1 mice without augmented reactive astrogliosis. These findings indicate an exacerbating role of severe reactive astrogliosis in amyloid-βplaque and neurofibrillary tangle-associated pathology. The APP/PS1-TauP301L-Adeno mouse model provides a valuable tool for advancing therapeutic research aimed at mitigating the progression of AD.

文摘Rapid increases in Carbon dioxide(CO_(2))levels could trigger unpredictable climate change. The assessment of spatiotempor-al variation and influencing factors of CO_(2) concentration are helpful in understanding the source/sink balance and supporting the formu-lation of climate policy. In this study,Greenhouse Gases Observing Satellite(GOSAT)data were used to explore the variability of CO_(2) concentrations in China from 2009 to 2020.Meteorological parameters, vegetation cover, and anthropogenic activities were combined to explain the increase in CO_(2) concentration, using pixel-based correlations and Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling(CB-SEM)analysis.The results showed that the influence of vertical CO_(2) transport diminished with altitude, with a distinct inter-annual in-crease in CO_(2) concentrations at 17 vertical levels.Spatially, the highest values were observed in East China, whereas the lowest were observed in Northwest China. There were significant seasonal variations in CO_(2) concentration, with maximum and minimum values in spring(April)and summer(August),respectively.According to the pixel-based correlation analysis, the near-surface CO_(2) concentration was positively correlated with population(r=0.99,P<0.001),Leaf Area Index(LAI,r=0.95,P<0.001),emissions(r=0.91,P<0.001),temperature(r=0.60,P<0.05),precipitation(r=0.34,P>0.05),soil water(r=0.29,P>0.05),nightlight(r=0.28,P>0.05);and negatively correlated with wind speed(r=−0.58,P<0.05).CB-SEM analysis revealed that LAI was the most important con-trolling factor explaining CO_(2) concentration variation(total effect of 0.66),followed by emissions(0.58),temperature(0.45),precipita-tion(0.30),wind speed(−0.28),and soil water(−0.07).The model explained 93% of the increase in CO_(2) concentration. Our results provide crucial information on the patterns of CO_(2) concentrations and their driving mechanisms, which are particularly significant in the context of climate change.

文摘Global gridded crop models(GGCMs) have been broadly applied to assess the impacts of climate and environmental change and adaptation on agricultural production. This study, for the first time, provides a complete picture of GGCM performance in China, which is important for GGCM development and understanding the reliability and uncertainty of national-and provincial-scale crop yield prediction in China.

文摘We modeled foraging habitats of Hume’s Pheasant (Syrmaticus humiae) on a macro-habitat level using ArcGIS in an attempt to provide scientific reference for management and restoration of habitats. Fragmentation and miniaturization of foraging patches would result in the formation of a meta-population of Hume’s Pheasant.

文摘Parkinson’s disease is chara cterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars com pacta, and although restoring striatal dopamine levels may improve symptoms,no treatment can cure or reve rse the disease itself.Stem cell therapy has a regenerative effect and is being actively studied as a candidate for the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.Mesenchymal stem cells are considered a promising option due to fewer ethical concerns,a lower risk of immune rejection, and a lower risk of teratogenicity. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the therapeutic effects of mesenchymal stem cells and their derivatives on motor function, memory, and preservation of dopamine rgic neurons in a Parkinson’s disease animal model. We searched bibliographic databases(PubMed/MEDLINE,Embase,CENTRAL,Scopus,and Web of Science)to identify articles and included only pee r-reviewed in vivo interve ntional animal studies published in any language through J une 28,2023.The study utilized the random-effect model to estimate the 95%confidence intervals(CI)of the standard mean differences(SMD)between the treatment and control groups. We use the systematic review center for laboratory animal expe rimentation’s risk of bias tool and the collaborative approach to meta-analysis and review of animal studies checklist for study quality assessment.A total of 33studies with data from 840 Parkinson’s disease model animals were included in the meta-analysis.Treatment with mesenchymal stem cells significantly improved motor function as assessed by the amphetamine-induced rotational test.Among the stem cell types, the bone marrow MSCs with neurotrophic factor group showed la rgest effect size(SMD[95%CI]=-6.21[-9.50 to-2.93],P=0.0001,I^(2)=0.0%).The stem cell treatment group had significantly more tyrosine hydroxylase positive dopamine rgic neurons in the striatum([95%CI]=1.04[0.59 to 1.49],P=0.0001,I^(2)=65.1%)and substantia nigra(SMD[95%CI]=1.38[0.89 to 1.87],P=0.0001,I^(2)=75.3%),indicating a protective effect on dopaminergic neurons.Subgroup analysis of the amphetamine-induced rotation test showed a significant reduction only in the intracranial-striatum route(SMD[95%CI]=-2.59[-3.25 to-1.94],P=0.0001,I^(2)=74.4%).The memory test showed significant improvement only in the intravenous route(SMD[95%CI]=4.80[1.84 to 7.76],P=0.027,I^(2)=79.6%).Mesenchymal stem cells have been shown to positively impact motor function and memory function and protect dopaminergic neurons in preclinical models of Parkinson’s disease.Further research is required to determine the optimal stem cell types, modifications, transplanted cell numbe rs,and delivery methods for these protocols.

文摘Over the past few decades, the Internet has rapidly diffused across China. The spread of the Internet has had a profound economic and social impact on Chinese rural areas.Existing research shows that Internet access significantly impacts agricultural production and improves smallholder farmers’income.Beyond these, the Internet can affect other dimensions of social welfare. However, research about the impact of Internet access on dietary quality in rural China remains scarce. This study utilizes multi-period panel data from Fixed Observation Point in rural China from 2009 to 2015 to estimate the impact of Internet access on dietary quality and food consumption of rural households and conducts a causal analysis.Regression models with time and household fixed effects allow robust estimation while reducing potential issues of unobserved heterogeneity. The estimates show that Internet access has significantly increased rural household dietary quality(measured by the Chinese Diet Balance Index).Further research finds that Internet access has increased the consumption of animal products, such as aquatic and dairy products. We also examine the underlying mechanisms.Internet access improves dietary quality and food consumption mainly through increasing household income and food expenditure. These results encourage the promotion of Internet access as a valuable tool for nutritional improvements, especially in rural areas.
