The results show that the formation of the secondary phases in Mg-Zn-Y-Zr alloys firmly depends on the mole ratio of Y to Zn, and X (Mg 12 YZn)-phase, W (Mg 3 Y 2 Zn 3 )-phase and I (Mg 3 YZn 6 )-phase come out in sequence as the ratio of Y to Zn decreases. The mole ratios of Y to Zn with the corresponding phase constituent are suggested quantitatively as follows: the phase constituent is α-Mg + I when the mole ratio of Y to Zn is about 0.164; α-Mg + I +W when the mole ratio of Y to Zn is in the range of 0.164 0.33;α-Mg +W when the mole ratio of Y to Zn is about 0.33; α-Mg +W+X when the mole ratio of Y to Zn is in the range of 0.33 1.32; and α-Mg +X when the mole ratio of Y to Zn is about 1.32. The results also offer a guideline for alloy selection and alloy design in Mg-Zn-Y-Zr system.展开更多

The present study examined their influence on hot tearing susceptibility (HTS) of commercial AZ91D and newly developed Mg-3Nd-0.2Zn-Zr (mass fraction, %; NZ30K) magnesium alloys in gravity permanent mold casting condition. The results indicate that mold temperature shows much more significant influence on the HTS of both alloys than pouring temperature whose influence only can be distinguished at low mold temperature (341 K for AZ91D alloy and 423 K for NZ30K alloy). Hot tearing susceptibility prediction model concerning feeding parameters, grain size and solidification range, is more suitable to estimate the HTS of different magnesium alloys than the model only concerning feeding parameters. In order to achieve better hot tearing resistance, the ranges of pouring and mold temperatures are suggested to be 961-991 K and≥641 K for AZ91D alloy, 1003-1033 K and≥623 K for NZ30K alloy, respectively.展开更多

It is found that the addition of Er has an obvious effect on improving mechanical properties of Mg-6Zn based alloys. The results suggest that the Mg-6Zn-0.5Er alloy in the peak aged state shows the best tensile strength. The ultimate tensile strength and the yield tensile strength of the peak-aged Mg-6Zn-0.5Er alloy are about 329 MPa and 183 MPa, respectively, companying with a good elongation of 12%. The addition of 0.5% Er into the Mg-6Zn based alloys has a great effect on improving ageing hardening response. The results showed that, with the addition of 1% Sn and the Ca content of 0.2%?0.5%, the microstructure of the as-extruded Mg?Sn?Ca alloys became homogenous, which led to increased mechanical properties and improved corrosion resistance. Further increase of Ca content up to 1.5% improved the strength, but deteriorated the ductility and corrosion resistance. For the alloy containing 0.5% Ca, when the Sn content increased from 1% to 3%, the ultimate tensile strength increased with a decreased corrosion resistance, and the lowest yield strength and ductility appeared with the Sn content of 2%. These behaviors were determined by Sn/Ca mass ratio. The analyses showed that as-extruded Mg?1Sn?0.5Ca alloy was promising as a biodegradable orthopedic implant.展开更多

The type, morphology, size distribution and volume fraction of inclusion were analyzed with OM and SEM. The effect of inclusion in Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloys on anticorrosion ability was investigated with salt spray test and electrochemical test. The results show that the inclusions in the alloy can be removed effectively by filtering purification. The average size of inclusions in the alloys is decreased from 12.7 μm to 2.0 μm and the volume fraction of inclusions is reduced from 0.30% to 0.04%. With the decrease of the size of inclusions in the alloys, the corrosion rate of the alloys decreases dramatically from 38.8 g/(m 2 ·d) to 2.4 g/(m 2 ·d) in the salt spray test. The corrosion potential increases while the corrosion current decreases and the polarization resistance increases in the electrochemical tests, which indicates that the anticorrosion ability is improved.展开更多

The results indicate that all the as-cast alloys are mainly composed ofα-Mg, Mg2Ca, Ca2Mg6Zn3,I (Mg3YZn6) andW (Mg3Y2Zn3) phases. However, with Y content increasing from 0.86% to 2.68%, the amount of the Ca2Mg6Zn3 phase gradually decreases but that of theI (Mg3YZn6) andW (Mg3Y2Zn3) phases gradually increases. Furthermore, an increase in Y content from 0.86% to 2.68% also causes the grain size of the as-cast alloys to gradually decrease. In addition, the tensile and creep properties of the as-cast alloys vary with Y content. Namely, with Y content increasing from 0.86% to 2.68%, the creep properties gradually increase, whereas the tensile properties firstly increase and attain the maximum at 1.77% Y, beyond that they decrease. The microstructure indicates the mean grain size of 15 μm for the extruded and 100 μm for the as-cast Mg-5Y-7Gd-1Nd-0.5Zr magnesium alloys. The corrosion morphology of as-cast sample shows pitting corrosion and little filiform corrosion, but that of the extruded sample shows pitting corrosion at the initial stage. The corrosion rate of extruded sample is higher than that of as-cast Mg-5Y-7Gd-1Nd-0.5Zr alloy according to the immersion test. The second phases containing RE acting as cathodes improve the corrosion properties. The corrosion potentials of as-cast and extruded Mg-5Y-7Gd-1Nd-0.5Zr alloys are -1.658 V and -1.591 V, respectively. The origins of the distinctive corrosion behavior of as-cast and extruded Mg-5Y-7Gd-1Nd-0.5Zr Mg alloys were discussed.
文摘Microstructure evolution and texture development and their effects on mechanical properties of a Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloy during equal channel angular pressing(ECAP) were investigated. It is found that the microstructure is still inhomogeneous after four passes, and two zones, namely the fine grain zone(FGZ) and the coarse grain zone(CGZ) are formed. The grain refinement occurs mainly by particle-stimulated nucleation(PSN) mechanism, which led to a more random texture after four passes of ECAP.In the ECAP-processed alloy, the strength did not increase while the ductility was enhanced dramatically compared with the as-received condition. The change of ductility of this alloy was discussed in terms of texture and second phase particles.

文摘Mg-Gd-Y-Zr alloys were purified by filtering purification with and without vacuum. The corrosion potential increases while the corrosion current decreases and the polarization resistance increases in the electrochemical tests, which indicates that the anticorrosion ability is improved.

文摘The morphology and orientation of the growth twins formed in the cast Mg-Zn-Cu-Zr alloys aged at 100 °C were characterized using optical microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It was found that twins were invisible in the as-cast or solutionized Mg-Zn-Cu-Zr alloys while {10 12} twins were exclusively formed in the aged condition. The twinning behavior was significantly affected by two factors, namely, the Zn content and the heat treatment process. A possible formation mechanism of such growth twins was discussed using the viewpoint of vacancy.

文摘The as-cast microstructures and mechanical properties of Mg?4Zn?xY?1Ca (x=1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 3.0, mass fraction, %) alloys were investigated and compared. Amongst the as-cast alloys with 0.86% Y, 1.19% Y, 1.77% Y and 2.68% Y, the alloy with 1.77% Y exhibits the relatively optimal tensile and creep properties.
