As the beginning part of a news report, the news lead bears the important function of attracting readers’ attention and summarizing news points. Translation strategies for news leads often involve three aspects: stylistic characteristics of news, communicative purposes of news, and bilingual cultural differences. Toury’s norm theory provides theoretical guidance for the translation of news leads, helping translators find a balance between adequacy and acceptability, and ensuring that the translated text is faithful to the original text and conforms to the reading habits of the target language readers.展开更多
