In mobile cloud computing(MCC) systems,both the mobile access network and the cloud computing network are heterogeneous,implying the diverse configurations of hardware,software,architecture,resource,etc.In such hetero...In mobile cloud computing(MCC) systems,both the mobile access network and the cloud computing network are heterogeneous,implying the diverse configurations of hardware,software,architecture,resource,etc.In such heterogeneous mobile cloud(HMC) networks,both radio and cloud resources could become the system bottleneck,thus designing the schemes that separately and independently manage the resources may severely hinder the system performance.In this paper,we aim to design the network as the integration of the mobile access part and the cloud computing part,utilizing the inherent heterogeneity to meet the diverse quality of service(QoS)requirements of tenants.Furthermore,we propose a novel cross-network radio and cloud resource management scheme for HMC networks,which is QoS-aware,with the objective of maximizing the tenant revenue while satisfying the QoS requirements.The proposed scheme is formulated as a restless bandits problem,whose "indexability" feature guarantees the low complexity with scalable and distributed characteristics.Extensive simulation results are presented to demonstrate the significant performance improvement of the proposed scheme compared to the existing ones.展开更多

In this paper, we present a state-based channel capacity perception scheme to provide statistical Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantees under a medium or high traffic load for IEEE 802.11 wireless multi-hop networks. The proposed scheme first perceives the state of the wireless link from the MAC retransmission information and extends this information to calculate the wireless channel capacity, particularly under a saturated traffic load, on the basis of the interference among flows and the link state in the wireless multi-hop networks. Finally, the adaptive optimal control algorithm allocates a network resource and forwards the data packet by taking into consideration the channel capacity deployments in multi-terminal or multi-hop mesh networks. Extensive computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve better performance in terms of packet delivery ratio and network throughput compared to the existing capacity prediction schemes.展开更多

In order to effectively apply network coding techniques to the real multi-hop wireless networks, a practical network coding aware routing protocol is proposed in this paper, for unicast sessions in multi- hop wireless networks. The protocol is based on a novel routing metric design that captures the characteristics of network coding and unicast sessions. To ensure the novel routing mettle can operate with practical and widely available path calculation algorithms, a unique mapping process is used to map a real wireless network to a virtual network. The mapping process ensures that the paths with the biggest coding opportunities will be selected by commonly used path calculation algorithms. Simulation results show that the proposed routing protocol is effective to improve the network throughput.展开更多

The linear network coding scheme based on sparse random projection theory of compressed sensing. Simulation results show that this system satisfies the requirements of the reconstruction error of packets needed to reduce the number of nodes to the total number of 30%, improves the efficiency of data communications in wireless sensor network, reduce the energy consumption of the system. With other wireless sensor network data compression algorithm, the proposed algorithm has the advantages of simple realization, the compression effect is good, especially suitable for resource limited, and the accuracy requirements are not particularly stringent in wireless sensor networks.展开更多
A multilayer perceptron neural network system is established to support the diagnosis for five most common heart diseases (coronary heart disease, rheumatic valvular heart disease, hypertension, chronic cor pulmonale ...A multilayer perceptron neural network system is established to support the diagnosis for five most common heart diseases (coronary heart disease, rheumatic valvular heart disease, hypertension, chronic cor pulmonale and congenital heart disease). Momentum term, adaptive learning rate, the forgetting mechanics, and conjugate gradients method are introduced to improve the basic BP algorithm aiming to speed up the convergence of the BP algorithm and enhance the accuracy for diagnosis. A heart disease database consisting of 352 samples is applied to the training and testing courses of the system. The performance of the system is assessed by cross-validation method. It is found that as the basic BP algorithm is improved step by step, the convergence speed and the classification accuracy of the network are enhanced, and the system has great application prospect in supporting heart diseases diagnosis.展开更多

The idea of CEiPA...The problem of information dissemination is researched for vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANET) in this paper, and a contention-based effficient-information perception algorithm (CEiPA) is proposed. The idea of CEiPA is that beacons are delivered over VANET with limited lifetime and efficient information. CEiPA consists of two phases. The first one is initialization phase, during which the count timers Tcyce and Tlocal are set to start beacon delivery while Tcycle is also used to monitor and restart beaconing. The second one is beacon delivery phase. An elaborate distance function is employed to set contention delay for beacons of each vehicle. In this way beacons will be sent in order, which decreases the collision of beacons. Simulation results show that CEiPA enables each beacon to carry more efficient information and spread them over more vehicles with lower network overhead than the periodic beacon scheme. CEiPA is also flexible and scalable because the efficient information threshold it employs is a balance among the freshness of information, network overhead and perception area of a vehicle.展开更多
