Chemical analysis of pheromone gland extracts of 3-day-old females showed that individual isolated glands contained only very small amounts of pheromone. The high-resolution gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis showed the presence of Cis-7-dodecenyl acetate (Z7-12:Ac, A), Cis-9-tetradecenyl acetate (Z9-14:Ac, B), Cis- 11-hexadecenyl acetate (Z 11 - 16 :Ac, C), Cis-8-dodecenyl acetate (Z8-12:Ac, E) and Cis-5-decenyl acetate (Z5-10:Ac, D) in biologically active pheromone gland extracts. An extract of one gland from a day 3 female gave the following values for the gland components: 0.245±0.098ng for Z7-12:Ac, 0.080±0.031ng for Z9-14:Ac, 0.089±0.033ng for Z11-16:Ac, 0.085±0.031ng for Z5-10:Ac, 0.105±0.065ng for Z8-12:Ac per female. The percentages of Z7-12:Ac, Z9-14:Ac, Z11-16:Ac, Z5-10:Ac and ZS-12:Ac in pheromone gland extracts from individual females were (meaniSE) 40.451±13.66, 13.176±5.279, 14.943±5.142, 14.392±6.10 and 17.225±9.792 respectively, and the percentages of Z7-12:Ac, Z9-14:Ac and Z11-16:Ac were 58.75±9.429, 18.91±7.539 and 22.34±7.209. Field trials indicated that each single component of sex pheromone was non-effective and captured no males. The lures baited with duality compound of AB (3 : 1) had a certain attraction to males, the mean captured number was 2.6. The attraction ability of the lures baited with ternary compound of ABC (3 : 1 :1) to males added significantly, the mean captured number per trap was 7.40, which was 2.8 times of duality compound of AB (3 : 1). The contents of sex pheromone could obviously affect its capture ability to males, the mean captured number was the highest at the dosage of 200 μg.展开更多

At pH = 8, the complex formation of copper(ll) ions with fulvic acids was studied by the solubility method. Fulvic acids were separated from the river Mtkvari by the adsorption-chromotographic method. The charcoal (BAU, Russia) was used as a sorbent. The suspension of copper(If) hydroxide was used as the solid phase, on which was added the increasing quantity of standard solution of fulvic acids. In diluted solutions, at pH = 8 the dominant form of copper(lI) is copper dihydroxo complex Cu(OH)^zO. It was established that in the Cu(OH)2 (solid)-Cu(OH)^20 (solution)-FA^2-H20 system, dominates copper dyhydroxo fulvate complex with the structure 1:1, [Cu(OH)2FA]^2. The average stability constant of copper dyhydroxo fulvate complex was calculated based on experimental data fl [Cu(OH)2FAJ^2 = 4.5× l0^5.展开更多

The aim of this study is to evaluate performance of certain low-cost alternative depressants for a complex lead-zinc(Pb-Zn) ore rich in graphite(Gr-C) on a conventional mini pilot-scale flotation circuit. The reagents used were commercial and industrial grade starch; agro-based waste-sugarcane bagasse and charred(burnt) bagasse powder. The primary evaluation criteria were quality(grades) of lead and zinc concentrates, their recoveries(%), and graphite rejection(%) in the tails.Benchmark tests using nigrosine as graphite depressant showed 94.3% rejection of Gr-C. The results with commercial starch were found as effective with 93.8% graphite rejection. Furthermore, bagasse powder showed potential in improving product quality(36.4% and 65.6% Pb grade and recovery) with an intermediate effectiveness in graphite rejection(85.6%). The order of effectiveness in Gr-C rejection follows nigrosine % commercial starch > bagasse > industrial starch > charred bagasse. In addition, the effect these depressants on silver(byproduct) grade and recovery was also investigated.展开更多

For this purpose, the growth and the L-malic acid metabolism of 100O. oeni strains, previously isolated from different wines, was assayed in a synthetic medium added with ethanol, malic acid and phenol carboxylic (gallic, caffeic, p-coumaric and ferulic) acids or flavonoids (catechin and quercetin) at different concentrations. Results evidenced a different sensitivity of strains to each assayed compound. All the compounds restrained or stimulated the growth of 57 and 11 strains respectively, while no effect was detected on 6 strains. The remaining 26 strains showed a different behaviour: all were restrained by ferulic acid and stimulated by gallic acid and catechin. As for caffeic acid, 17 out of 26 strains were restrained, while 9 strains were stimulated. The main result obtained in this study was the establishment of a relationship between the effect of phenolic compounds on the O. oeni growth and the behaviour of the malolactic fermentation. This study may enrich the selection criteria of strains for the deacidification of aged red wines.展开更多
