3D elastic-plastic FE model for simulating the force controlled stretch-bending process of double-cavity aluminum profile was established using hybrid explicit−implicit solvent method.Considering the computational acc... 3D elastic-plastic FE model for simulating the force controlled stretch-bending process of double-cavity aluminum profile was established using hybrid explicit−implicit solvent method.Considering the computational accuracy and efficiency,the optimal choices of numerical parameters and algorithms in FE modelling were determined.The formation mechanisms of cross-section distortion and springback were revealed.The effects of pre-stretching,post-stretching,friction,and the addition of internal fillers on forming quality were investigated.The results show that the stress state of profile in stretch-bending is uniaxial with only a circumferential stress.The stress distribution along the length direction of profile is non-uniform and the maximum tensile stress is located at a certain distance away from the center of profile.As aluminum profile is gradually attached to bending die,the distribution characteristic of cross-section distortion along the length direction of profile changes from V-shape to W-shape.After unloading the forming tools,cross-section distortion decreases obviously due to the stress relaxation,with a maximum distortion difference of 13%before and after unloading.As pre-stretching and post-stretching forces increase,cross-section distortion increases gradually,while springback first decreases and then remains unchanged.With increasing friction between bending die and profile,cross-section distortion slightly decreases,while springback increases.Cross-section distortion decreases by 83%with adding PVC fillers into the cavities of profile,while springback increases by 192.2%. 展开更多

In recent years,the escalation in accidental explosions has emerged as a formidable threat to tunnel infrastructures.Therefore,it is of great significance to conduct a dynamic performance analysis of the tunnels,to improve the safety and maintain the functionality of underground transport hubs.To this end,this study proposes a dynamic performance assessment framework to assess the extent of damage of shallow buried circular tunnels under explosion hazards.First,the nonlinear dynamic finite element numerical model of soil-tunnel interaction system under explosion hazard was established and validated.Then,based on the validated numerical model,an explosion intensity(EI)considering both explosion equivalent and relative distance was used to further analyze the dynamic response characteristics under typical explosion conditions.Finally,this study further explored the influence of the integrity and strength of the surrounding soil,concrete strength,lining thickness,rebar strength,and rebar rate on the tunnel dynamic performance.Our results show that the dynamic performance assessment framework proposed for shallow circular tunnels fully integrates the coupling effects of explosion equivalent and distance,and is able to accurately measure the degree of damage sustained by these structures under different EI.This work contributes to designing and managing tunnels and underground transport networks based on dynamic performance,thereby facilitating decision-making and efficient allocation of resources by consultants,operators,and stakeholders. 展开更多

In order to improve the load capacity, seismic performance and performance-cost ratio of the columns, the concrete at the base of reinforced concrete (RC) columns is substituted with engineered cementitious composites (ECC) to form ECC/RC composite columns. Based on the existing material properties, the mechanical behaviors of the ECC columns, ECC/RC composite columns and RC columns were numerically studied under combined vertical and horizontal loading with the software of ATENA. Then, the failure mechanism of ECC columns and ECC/RC composite columns were comprehensively studied and compared with that of the RC columns. Then, the effects of the height of the ECC, the axial compression ratio, and the transverse reinforcement ratio on the mechanical behaviors of the composite or the ECC column are studied. The calculation results show that the ultimate load capacity, ductility and crack resistance of the ECC or ECC/RC composite columns are superior to those of the RC columns. The ECC/RC composite column with a height of the ECC layer of 1.2h ( h is the height of the cross section) can achieve similar mechanical properties of a full ECC column. With high shear strength, ECC can undertake the shear force and significantly reduce the amount of stirrups, avoiding construction issues and promoting its engineering application. 展开更多

The buffeting performance of kilometer-level high-speed railway suspension bridges has a great impact on the smooth operation of high-speed trains.To investigate the buffeting performance of the structure significantly different from traditional suspension bridges,the first long-span high-speed railway suspension bridge,Wufengshan Yangtze River Bridge(WYRB),is taken as a numerical example to demonstrate the effects of structural parameters and wind field parameters on the buffeting responses.Based on the design information,the spatial finite element model(FEM)of WYRB is established before testing its accuracy.The fluctuating wind fields are simulated via both classical and stochastic wave based spectral representation method(SRM).Finite element method is further taken to analyze the parametric sensitivity on wind induced buffeting responses in time domain.The results show that the vertical displacement is more sensitive to the changing dead load than the lateral and torsional ones.The larger stiffness of the main girder and the lower sag-to-span ratio are both helpful to reduce the buffeting responses.Wind spectrum and coherence function are key influencing factors to the responses so setting proper wind field parameters are essential in the wind-resistant design stage.The analytical results can provide references for wind resistance analysis and selection of structural and fluctuating wind field parameters for similar long-span high-speed railway suspension bridges. 展开更多

The parallel multisection method for solving algebraic eigenproblem has been presented in recent years with the development of the parallel computers, but all the research work is limited in standard eigenproblems of symmetric tridiagonal matrix. The multisection method for solving the generalized eigenproblem applied significantly in many science and engineering domains has not been studied. The parallel region preserving multisection method (PRM for short) for solving generalized eigenproblems of large sparse and real symmetric matrix is presented in this paper. This method not only retains the advantages of the conventional determinant search method (DS for short), but also overcomes its disadvantages such as leaking roots and disconvergence. We have tested the method on the YH 1 vector computer, and compared it with the parallel region preserving determinant search method the parallel region preserving bisection method (PRB for short). The numerical results show that PRM has a higher speed up, for instance, it attains the speed up of 7.7 when the scale of the problem is 2 114 and the eigenpair found is 3, and PRM is superior to PRB when the scale of the problem is large. 展开更多

Compared to some other already reported split-step balanced methods, the drift increment function of the methods can be taken from any chosen ane-step ordinary differential equations (ODEs) solver. The schemes is proved to be strong convergent with order one. For the mean-square stability analysis, the investigation is confined to two cases. We demonstrate that the dynamic load spectra can be identified from the response signal of the system, based on cepstra. An ARMA model is built based on the harmonic retrieval by high-order spectra. The sealing performance of magnetic fluid is related to the magnetic fluid itself. Many factors can influence the magnetic field and the seal pressure differences of magnetic fluid seals, such as the sealing gap, the shaft eccentricity, the shaft diameter, the volume of the magnetic fluid and the centrifugal force. These factors are analyzed by numerical computation. When the seal material and structure are the same, the seal pressure difference is directly proportional to the magnetic field intensity and the saturation magnetization of the magnetic fluid. The sealing performance of the magnetic fluid will reduce with the increase of the sealing gap and shaft eccentricity. The sealing performance will increase with the volume of the magnetic fluid and decrease with the increase of the shaft diameter taking gravity into account. The increase of the shaft diameter is the same as the reduction of the volume of the magnetic fluid. The magnetic fluid cross-section can change because of the centrifugal force. Some improvements can reducc the influence of the centrifugal force. The centrifugal force can be utilized to improve the sealing performance. 展开更多

By applying Lou's direct perturbation method to perturbed nonlinear Schroedinger equation and the critical nonlinear SchrSdinger equation with a small dispersion, their approximate analytical solutions including the zero-order and the first-order solutions are obtained. Based on these approximate solutions, the analytical forms of parameters of solitons are expressed and the effects of perturbations on solitons are briefly analyzed at the same time. In addition, the perturbed nonlinear Schroedinger equations is directly simulated by split-step Fourier method to check the validity of the direct perturbation method. It turns out that the analytical results given by the direct perturbation method are well supported by numerical calculations. 展开更多

We propose a scheme for the effective polarization and manipulation of electron spin by using a quantum dot with both charge and spin bias. Using the equation of motion for Keldysh nonequilibrium Green function, we study the spin accumulation and polarization for the system. Through analytical analysis and a few numerical examples, it is demonstrated that fairly large spin accumulation and polarization can be produced due to the breaking symmetry of the chemical potential for different electron spin in the leads. Moreover, the direction and the strength of the spin polarization can be conveniently controlled and tuned by varying the charge bias or the gate voltage. 展开更多

The principle and characteristics of hydrostatic gas lubricated non-contacting mechanical seal (HSGLNMS) are introduced. The flow field of the gas film is established by numerical analysis of end faces of HSGLNMS. The distribution of gas film pressure and seal performance parameters inclu- ding opening force and leakage are obtained. Influence of operating parameters and sealing configu- ration on the sealing performance is studied. HSGLNMS has been designed and manufactured. Its working film thickness and leakage are measured to verify the theoretical analysis. The investigation results show that HSGLNMS demonstrates good speed adaptability, which means that the seal runs successfully with both low and high speed, showing excellent performance. The seal can be regula- ted and controlled online ; the opening force will not be raised greatly with the increasing of the num- ber of throttle orifices, but the leakage of seal increases apparently ; the uniform pressure groove im- proves the sealing performance, for example, opening force and stiffness are raised obviously. While leakage is reduced. Finally, the theoretical analysis is verified by experiment. 展开更多

Since computers and software have spread into all fields of industry, extensive efforts are currently made in order to improve the safety by applying certain numerical solutions. For many engineering problems involving shock and impact, there is no single ideal numerical method that can reproduce the various regimes of a problem. An approach wherein different techniques may be applied within a single numerical analysis can provide the "best" solution in terms of accuracy and efficiency. This paper presents a set of numerical simulations of ballistic tests which analyze the effects of soda lime glass laminates. The goal is to find an appropriate solver technique for simulating brittle materials and thereby improve bullet-proof glass to meet current challenges. To have the correct material model available is not enough. In this work, the main solver technologies are compared to create a perfect simulation model for soda lime glass laminates. The calculation should match ballistic trials and be used as the basis for further studies. These numerical simulations are performed with the nonlinear dynamic analysis computer code ANSYS AUTODYN. 展开更多

As a new type of structure which has never been built, submerged floating tunnel was studied mainly by numerical simulations. To further study the seismic response of a submerged floating tunnel, the first model experiment of submerged floating tunnel (SFT) under the earthquake was carried out on the unique underwater shaking table in China. The experimental results show that vertical excitation induces larger response than horizontal and different inclination degrees of the tether also cause different seismic responses. Subsequently, based on the fluid-structure interaction theory, the corresponding numerical model is established. And comparing the numerical results with the experimental results, those of shaking table test. Numerical model adopted is effective for it is shown that the numerical results are basically identical with dynamic response of SFT. 展开更多
