The fault diagnosis of this equipment has a great impact on mine production. The problem of incorrect classification of noisy data by traditional support vector machines is addressed by a proposed Probability Least Squares Support Vector Classification Machine (PLSSVCM). Samples that cannot be definitely determined as belonging to one class will be assigned to a class by the PLSSVCM based on a probability value. This gives the classification results both a qualitative explanation and a quantitative evaluation. Simulation results of a fault diagnosis show that the correct rate of the PLSSVCM is 100%. Even though samples are noisy, the PLSSVCM still can effectively realize multi-class fault diagnosis of a roller bearing. The generalization property of the PLSSVCM is better than that of a neural network and a LSSVCM.展开更多

From the dielectric spectrum formula, the spectra of optical and dielectric constants can be obtained in the whole frequency region. Three dielectrics, water, ethanol, and toluene, are taken as examples. In the region where the ex- perimental data are available, the spectra of the optical constants calculated by the formula are in good agreement with the real refractive spectrum obtained by Kramers-Kronig (K-K) transform and the experimental imaginary refractive spectrum. In the region where no ex- perimental data are available, the extrapolation of our formula can make predictions. The merits of the present treatment are that we are able to get the uniform spectrum formula, without splitting into different frequency sections, and the analytical form of the dielectric spectra will be useful in the theoretical description of solvation dynamics.展开更多

The moving least square method is introduced, for the first time, to fit a stratum surface. The results show that, using the same-degree base function, compared with a traditional least square method, the moving least square method can produce lower fitting errors, the fitting surface can describe the morphological characteristics of stratum surfaces more accurately and the principal curvature values vary within a wide range and may be more suitable for the prediction of the distribution of structural fractures. The moving least square method could be useful in curved surface fitting and stratum curvature analysis.展开更多

We developed a mathematical model based on an eigenfunction expansion method and a least squares technique for Stokes second-order waves. The numerical results obtained for limiting cases of double-row and triple-row walls are in good agreement with results of previous studies and experimental results. Comparisons with experimental measurements of the reflection, transmission, and dissipation coefficients (CR, Cr, and CE) for double-row walls show that the proposed mathematical model adequately reproduces most of the important features. We found that for double-row walls, the CR increases with increasing wave number, kd, and with a decreasing permeable wall part, din. The Cr follows the opposite trend. The CE slowly increases with an increasing kd for lower kd values, reaches a maximum, and then decreases again. In addition, an increasing porosity of dm would significantly decrease the CR while increasing the Cr. At lower values of kd, a decreasing porosity increases the CE, but for high values of kd, a decreasing porosity reduces the Ce. The numerical results indicate that, for triple-row walls, the effect of the arrangement of the chamber widths on hydrodynamic characteristics is not significant, except when kd〈0.5 Double-row slotted breakwaters may exhibit a good wave-absorbing performance at kd〉0.5, where by the horizontal wave force may be smaller than that of a single wall. On the other hand, the difference between double-row and triple-row vertical slotted breakwaters is marginal.展开更多

This probability plot allows us to determine whether a set of sample observations is distributed according to a normal distribution. For this, the sample quantiles are represented against the quantiles of a theoretical probability model, which in this case is the normal distribution. If the data set follows the above mentioned distribution, the plotted points will have a rectilinear configuration. To verify this, there are different alternatives for fitting a straight line to the plotted points. Among the straight lines which can be fitted to a Q-Q plot, in this paper, besides the proposed straight line, the following straight lines are considered: straight line that passes through the first and third quartiles, straight line that passes through the 10th and 90th percentiles, straight line fitted by the method of least squares, straight line with slope s and constant the average of the data set, Theil's line and Tukey's line. In addition, an example, in which there are represented the different straight lines considered and the proposed straight line on a normal Q-Q plot obtained for the same set of observations, is developed. In this example the existing differences among the straight lines are observed.展开更多
