Communication channels introduce imperfections such as time-varying delays, and data-loss that affect the NCSs performance adversely. Many controller design algorithms compensating network constraints for NCSs has been proposed in literature. Most control laws either design stabilizing controllers considering worst-case conditions, or using simpler assumptions, leading to conservative design. Therefore, there is an urgent need to design dynamic controllers that compensate for such network imperfections. Adaptive controllers have been traditionally used for systems with time-varying parameters. However, the role of adaptation in NCSs has been studied only recently by researchers, and there is a need for new results. This article reviews the recent results in adaptive control of NCSs, and proposes research directions for future.展开更多
