Crop productivity obtained under these conditions varies significantly from one farmer to another, making it challenging to accurately estimate crop production through crop models. This limitation has implications for the reliability of using crop models as agricultural decision-making support tools. To support decision making in agriculture, an approach combining a genetic algorithm (GA) with the crop model AquaCrop is proposed for a location-specific calibration of maize cropping. In this approach, AquaCrop is used to simulate maize crop yield while the GA is used to derive optimal parameters set at grid cell resolution from various combinations of cultivar parameters and crop management in the process of crop and management options calibration. Statistics on pairwise simulated and observed yields indicate that the coefficient of determination varies from 0.20 to 0.65, with a yield deviation ranging from 8% to 36% across Burkina Faso (BF). An analysis of the optimal parameter sets shows that regardless of the climatic zone, a base temperature of 10˚C and an upper temperature of 32˚C is observed in at least 50% of grid cells. The growing season length and the harvest index vary significantly across BF, with the highest values found in the Soudanian zone and the lowest values in the Sahelian zone. Regarding management strategies, the fertility mean rate is approximately 35%, 39%, and 49% for the Sahelian, Soudano-sahelian, and Soudanian zones, respectively. The mean weed cover is around 36%, with the Sahelian and Soudano-sahelian zones showing the highest variability. The proposed approach can be an alternative to the conventional one-size-fits-all approach commonly used for regional crop modeling. Moreover, it has the potential to explore the performance of cropping strategies to adapt to changing climate conditions.展开更多

Compared with traditional constraint handling methods, the treatment of the constraint condition in VCGA is relatively easy to implement. Moreover, it does not require adjustments to indefinite pararneters. Using a hybrid crossover operator and the newly developed multi-ply mutation operator, VCGA improves the performance of GAs. To demonstrate the capability of VCGA to catch CNOPS in non-smooth cases, a partial differential equation, which has "on off" switches in its forcing term, is employed as the nonlinear model. To search global CNOPs of the nonlinear model, numerical experiments using VCGA, the traditional gradient descent algorithm based on the adjoint method (ADJ), and a GA using tournament selection operation and the niching technique (GA-DEB) were performed. The results with various initial reference states showed that, in smooth cases, all three optimization methods are able to catch global CNOPs. Nevertheless, in non-smooth situations, a large proportion of CNOPs captured by the ADJ are local. Compared with ADJ, the performance of GA-DEB shows considerable improvement, but it is far below VCGA. Further, the impacts of population sizes on both VCGA and GA-DEB were investigated. The results were used to estimate the computation time of ~CGA and GA-DEB in obtaining CNOPs. The computational costs for VCGA, GA-DEB and ADJ to catch CNOPs of the nonlinear model are also compared.展开更多

The present algorithms focused mainly on how to obtain a precisely pareto optimal solution for MSPP resulting in a long time to obtain multiple pareto optimal solutions with them. In order to obtain a set of satisfied solutions for MSPP in reasonable time to meet the demand of a decision maker, a genetic algo- rithm MSPP-GA is presented to solve the MSPP with typically competing objectives, cost and time, in this pa- per. The encoding of the solution and the operators such as crossover, mutation and selection are developed. The algorithm introduced pareto domination tournament and sharing based selection operator, which can not only directly search the pareto optimal frontier but also maintain the diversity of populations in the process of evolutionary computation. Experimental results show that MSPP-GA can obtain most efficient solutions distributed all along the pareto frontier in less time than an exact algorithm. The algorithm proposed in this paper provides a new and effective method of how to obtain the set of pareto optimal solutions for other multiple objective optimization problems in a short time.展开更多

It draws on merits of both GA and SAA ,and offsets their shortcomings. The difference from GA is that AGA takes objective function as adaptability function directly,so it cuts down some unnecessary time expense because of float-point calculation of function conversion. The difference from SAA is that AGA need not execute a very long Markov chain iteration at each point of temperature, so it speeds up the convergence of solution and makes no assumption on the search space,so it is simple and easy to be implemented. It can be applied to a wide class of problems. The optimizing principle and the implementing steps of AGA were expounded. The example of the parameter optimization of a typical complex electromechanical system named temper mill shows that AGA is effective and superior to the conventional GA and SAA.The control system of temper mill optimized by AGA has the optimal performance in the adjustable ranges of its parameters.展开更多

Metamodeling technique is employed to construct approximations to replace the high computational simulation models. The approximating functions for stiffness and natural frequency are constructed using Taylor series approximation. Three popular approximation techniques,i.e.polynomial response surface (PRS), stepwise regression (SR), and Kriging are studied on their accuracy in the construction of side impact functions. Uniform design is employed to sample the design space of the door impact analysis. The optimization problem is solved by a multi-objective genetic algorithm. This method avoids some weak points in genetic algorithm, such as inefficient to some local searching problems and its convergence is too early. Based on this model, an optimal design support system (IGBODS) is developed.IGBODS has been used in practice and the result shows that this model has great advantage than traditional one and promises good application in optimal design.

文摘Designing the optimal distribution of Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)ground stations is crucial for determining the satellite orbit, satellite clock and Earth Rotation Parameters(ERP)at a desired precision using a limited number of stations. In this work,a new criterion for the optimal GNSS station distribution for orbit and ERP determination is proposed, named the minimum Orbit and ERP Dilution of Precision Factor(OEDOP)criterion. To quickly identify the specific station locations for the optimal station distribution on a map,a method for the rapid determination of the selected station locations is developed, which is based on the map grid zooming and heuristic technique.Using the minimum OEDOP criterion and the proposed method for the rapid determination of optimal station locations,an optimal or near-optimal station distribution scheme for 17 newly built BeiDou Navigation Satellite System(BDS)global tracking stations is suggested. To verify the proposed criterion and method, real GNSS data are processed. The results show that the minimum OEDOP criterion is valid,as the smaller the value of OEDOP,the better the precision of the satellite orbit and ERP determination.Relative to the exhaustive method, the proposed method significantly improves the computational efficiency of the optimal station location determination. In the case of 3 newly built stations, the computational efficiency of the proposed method is 35 times greater than that of the exhaustive method. As the number of stations increases, the improvement in the computational efficiency becomes increasingly obvious.
文摘Three heuristic algorithms for optimal polygonal approximation of digital planar curves is presented. With Genetic Algorithm (GA), improved Genetic Algorithm (IGA) based on Pareto optimal solution and Tabu Search (TS), a near optimal polygonal approximation was obtained. Compared to the famous Teh chin algorithm, our algorithms have obtained the approximated polygons with less number of vertices and less approximation error. Compared to the dynamic programming algorithm, the processing time of our algorithms are much less expensive.
文摘Unlike the shortest path problem that has only one optimal solution and can be solved in polynomial time, the muhi-objective shortest path problem ( MSPP ) has a set of pareto optimal solutions and cannot be solved in polynomial time. The algorithm proposed in this paper provides a new and effective method of how to obtain the set of pareto optimal solutions for other multiple objective optimization problems in a short time.
文摘This paper presents an optimal vehicle and seat suspension design for a half-car vehicle model to reduce human-body vibration (whole-body vibration). A genetic algorithm is applied to search for the optimal parameters of the seat and vehicle suspension. The desired objective is proposed as the minimization of a multi-objective function formed by the combination of seat suspension working space (seat suspension deflection), head acceleration, and seat mass acceleration to achieve the best comfort of the driver. With the aid of Matlab/Simulink software, a simulation model is achieved. In solving this problem, the genetic algorithms have consistently found near-optimal solutions within specified parameters ranges for several independent runs. For validation, the solution obtained by GA was compared to the ones of the passive suspensions through sinusoidal excitation of the seat suspension system for the currently used suspension systems.
文摘A new searching algorithm named the annealing-genetic algorithm(AGA) was proposed by skillfully merging GA with SAA. The example of the parameter optimization of a typical complex electromechanical system named temper mill shows that AGA is effective and superior to the conventional GA and SAA.The control system of temper mill optimized by AGA has the optimal performance in the adjustable ranges of its parameters.
文摘This paper presents a method for optimal sizing of an off-grid hybrid microgrid (MG) system in order to achieve a certain load demand. The hybrid MG is made of a solar photovoltaic (PV) system, wind turbine (TW) and energy storage system (ESS). The reliability of the MG system is modeled based on the loss of power supply probability (SPSP). For optimization, an enhanced Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to minimize the total cost of the system over a 20-year period, while satisfying some reliability and operation constraints. A case study addressing optimal sizing of an off-grid hybrid microgrid in Nigeria is discussed. The result is compared with results obtained from the Brute Force and standard GA methods.

文摘A method for optimizing automotive doors under multiple criteria involving the side impact, stiffness, natural frequency, and structure weight is presented. It is found that SR technique is superior to PRS and Kriging techniques in terms of accuracy in this study. The numerical results demonstrate that the method successfully generates a well-spread Pareto optimal set. From this Pareto optimal set, decision makers can select the most suitable design according to the vehicle program and its application.
