Background: In response to the limitations of logical empiricism, interpretivism emerged as a philosophical approach for developing nursing knowledge. This paper discusses interpretivist constructivism and its value to qualitative nursing research. Methods: The paper synthesizes relevant literature on the importance of interpretivist constructivism in nursing research. It reviews the key elements of interpretivism, the principles of constructivism, the connection between the two approaches, the benefits and limitations of constructivism in nursing research, and the steps for conducting constructivist stroke nursing research. Results: Interpretivist constructivism emphasizes the importance of human experiences, interactions, and social contexts in knowledge development. It allows nurse researchers to adopt flexible, participant-driven approaches to explore and understand complex subjective human phenomena. This approach respects the unique perspectives and contexts of stakeholders, including patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and knowledge users. By following specific steps, constructivist researchers can improve the rigor, transparency, and validity of qualitative nursing research while reducing biases in interpreting the inherently subjective experiences of patients. Conclusion: A deeper understanding of the complexities of interpretivism and constructivism in qualitative research is essential. This paper provides a clear, comprehensive guide for effectively applying these approaches in qualitative nursing research. 展开更多

Background: For nursing students, gathering social information is essential for understanding healthcare and social issues and developing critical thinking and decision-making skills. However, the choice of information sources varies by age and individual habits. With the widespread use of the internet, there are notable differences between younger and older generations in their reliance on the internet versus traditional media sources like newspapers and television. Given the wide age range and diverse backgrounds of nursing students, understanding generational differences in information-gathering methods is important for implementing effective education. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify how nursing students in different age groups obtain social information and to examine media usage trends by age group. Additionally, we aim to use the findings to provide insights into effective information dissemination methods in nursing education. Results: The results showed that nursing students in their teens to forties, regardless of gender, primarily relied on the internet as their main information source, with television playing a secondary role. In contrast, students in their fifties tended to obtain information more often from newspapers and television than from the internet. This highlights an age-related difference in preferred information sources, with older students showing a greater reliance on traditional media. Conclusions: This study demonstrates that nursing students use different information-gathering methods based on their age, suggesting a need to custo-mize information dissemination strategies in nursing education. Digital media may be more effective for younger students, while traditional media or printed materials might better serve older students. Educational institutions should consider these generational differences in media usage and adopt strategies that meet the diverse needs of their student populations. 展开更多

Objective: Stroke is perceived as a serious illness although it is preventable, and lifestyle alterations can be made to reduce its risk. Improvement of stroke care should be achieved through awareness of public, especially through high-risk group. Henceforth, the aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of nursing intervention on improving awareness of high-risk people about stroke prevention. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was used to carry out this study, where a purposive sample of 80 adult patients at high risk for stroke were enrolled while they were attending the out-patient clinics of Zagazig University Hospitals for follow-up treatment;they were divided into two groups: case (40 patients) and control (40 patients). An interview questionnaire was used to assess patients’ knowledge regarding warning signs, risk factors, and immediate treatment;attitude;and their practice for prevention for stroke at pretest and posttest. Results: The study revealed the poor level of knowledge, bad level of preventive behavior, and negative attitude regarding stroke prevention at pre-intervention. However, after intervention, the high-risk people had fair level of knowledge with moderate practice for stroke prevention and positive attitude, with statistically significant difference between pre-post intervention and between the case and control groups. Conclusions: The study revealed that the nursing intervention seemed to change the knowledge, practice, and attitude of subjects regarding stroke prevention. This, in turn, implies that awareness of prevention of stroke and high-risk factor control could be important to reduce the burden of stroke in Egypt. Thus, further research on a larger scale is required to improve population knowledge and behavior for stroke prevention and control. 展开更多
