Dynamical analysis and localized waves of the n-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation with higher-order effects

Under investigation is the n-component nonlinear Schrödinger equation with higher-order effects,which describes the ultrashort pulses in the birefringent fiber.Based on the Lax pair,the eigenfunction and generalized Darboux transformation are derived.Next,we construct several novel higher-order localized waves and classified them into three categories:(i)higher-order rogue waves interacting with bright/antidark breathers,(ii)higher-order breather fission/fusion,(iii)higherorder breather interacting with soliton.Moreover,we explore the effects of parameters on the structure,collision process and energy distribution of localized waves and these characteristics are significantly different from previous ones.Finally,the dynamical properties of these solutions are discussed in detail. 展开更多

A sampling approximation for a function defined on a bounded interval is proposed by combining the Coiflet-type wavelet expansion and the boundary extension technique. Based on such a wavelet approximation scheme, a Galerkin procedure is developed for the spatial discretization of the generalized nonlinear Schr6dinger (NLS) equa- tions, and a system of ordinary differential equations for the time dependent unknowns is obtained. Then, the classical fourth-order explicit Runge-Kutta method is used to solve this semi-discretization system. To justify the present method, several widely considered problems are solved as the test examples, and the results demonstrate that the proposed wavelet algorithm has much better accuracy and a faster convergence rate in space than many existing numerical methods. 展开更多

In this paper, the nonlinear Schr?dinger equation combining quadratic-cubic nonlinearity is considered, which can be represented by an approximate model of relatively dense quasi-one-dimensional Bose-Einstein condensate. Based on the bifurcation theory, we proved the existence of solitary and periodic solutions. The methods we take are the trial equation method and the complete discrimination system for polynomial method. Therefore, we obtain the exact chirped solutions, which are more abundant in type and quantity than the existing results, so that the equation has more profound physical significance. These two methods are rigorously mathematical derivation and calculations, rather than based on certain conditional assumptions. In addition, we give some specific parameters to graphing the motion of the solutions, which helps to understand the propagation of nonlinear waves in fiber optic systems. 展开更多

Under different parametric conditions, various sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of analytical and non-analytical solutions of the singular system are given by using singular traveling wave theory. For certain special cases, some explicit and exact parametric representations of traveling wave solutions are derived such as analytical periodic waves and non-analytical periodic cusp waves. Further, two-dimensional wave plots of analytical periodic solutions and non-analytical periodic cusp wave solutions are drawn to visualize the dynamics of the equation. 展开更多

As a result, several types of similarity reductions are obtained. It is easy to show that the nonlinear wave equation is not integrable under the sense of AblowRz's conjecture from the reduction results obtained. Analysis of the rogue waves in the blood based on the high-order NLS equations with variable coefficients

The research of rogue waves is an advanced field which has important practical and theoretical significances in mathematics,physics,biological fluid mechanics,oceanography,etc.Using the reductive perturbation theory and long wave approximation,the equations governing the movement of blood vessel walls and the flow of blood are transformed into high-order nonlinear Schrodinger(NLS)equations with variable coefficients.The third-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation is degenerated into a completely integrable Sasa–Satsuma equation(SSE)whose solutions can be used to approximately simulate the real rogue waves in the vessels.For the first time,we discuss the conditions for generating rogue waves in the blood vessels and effects of some physiological parameters on the rogue waves.Based on the traveling wave solutions of the fourth-order nonlinear Schrodinger equation,we analyze the effects of the higher order terms and the initial deformations of the blood vessel on the wave propagation and the displacement of the tube wall.Our results reveal that the amplitude of the rogue waves are proportional to the initial stretching ratio of the tube.The high-order nonlinear and dispersion terms lead to the distortion of the wave,while the initial deformation of the tube wall will influence the wave amplitude and wave steepness. 展开更多

First, the formal derivations to any high order of mu(= h/lambda, depth to deep-water wave length ratio) and epsilon(= a/h, wave amplitude to depth ratio) for velocity potential, particle velocity vector, pressure and the Boussinesq-type equations for surface elevation eta and horizontal velocity vector (U) over right arrow at any given level in water are given. Then, the exact explicit expressions to the fourth order of mu are derived. Finally, the linear solutions of eta, (U) over right arrow, C (phase-celerity) and C-g (group velocity) for a constant water depth are obtained. Compared with the Airy theory, excellent results can be found even for a water depth as large as the wave legnth. The present high-order models are applicable to nonlinear regular and irregular waves in water of any varying depth (from shallow to deep) and bottom slope (from mild to steep). 展开更多

The sine-Gordon equation and the Klein-Gordon equation are simulated by an explicit multi-symplectic scheme. This paper aims to propose an improved numerical model for wave breaking in the nearshore region based on the fully nonlinear form of Boussinesq equations. The model uses the κ equation turbulence scheme to determine the eddy viscosity in the Boussinesq equations. To calculate the turbulence production term in the equation, a new formula is derived based on the concept of surface roller. By use of this formula, the turbulence production in the one-equation turbulence scheme is directly related to the difference between the water particle velocity and the wave celerity. The model is verified by Hansen and Svendsen's experimental data (1979) in terms of wave height and setup and setdown. The comparison between the model and experimental results of wave height and setup and setdown shows satisfactory agreement. The modeled turbulence energy decreases as waves attenuate in the surf zone. The modeled production term peaks at the breaking point and decreases as waves propagate shoreward. It is also suggested that both convection and diffusion play their important roles in the transport of turbulence energy immediately after wave breaking. When waves approach to the shoreline, the production and dissipation of turbulence energy are almost balanced. By use of the slot technique for the simulation of the movable shoreline boundary, wave runup in the swash zone is well simulated by the present model. 展开更多
