In the cellular location system, each mobile station needs to measure the signal strength transmitted by surrounding base stations, and sends its measurements to the service base station. Using the strength difference between the service base station and neighboring base stations, the position of a mobile station is estimated. The related Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) on the location error of this method was derived, and numerical simulations are made to discuss the influences of the number of base stations, correlation coefficient of shadowing attenuation, and cell radius on CRLB. The results show that the CRLB is positively correlated with the standard deviation of shadowing attenuation and cell radius, but negatively correlated with the number of base stations and the correlation coefficient of shadowing attenuation. In addition, the CRLB results obtained in this paper were compared with those of the cellular location system based on received signal strength (RSS) measurements, which reveals that the former is more tight.展开更多

Those two constitutive models are appropriate for metallic and strength-different (SD) materials, respectively. Two verification examples are used to compare the computation results and test data using the two-dimensional finite difference code FLAC and the finite element code ANSYS, and the two constitutive models proposed in this paper are verified. Two application examples, the large deformation of a prismatic bar and the strain-softening be- havior of soft rock under a complex stress state, are analyzed using the three-dimensional code FLAC3D. The two new elastoplastic constitutive models proposed in this paper can be used in bearing capacity evaluation or stability analysis of structures built of metallic or SD materials. The effect of the intermediate principal stress on metallic or SD mate- rial structures under complex stress states, including large deformation, three-dimensional and non-association problems, can be analyzed easily using the two constitutive models proposed in this paper.展开更多

The low stress of the cyclic loading was taken as 0.2f c and the upper stress ranged from 0. 20f t to 0.65f t. Three constant lateral pressures were 0.1f c, 0.2f c and 0.3f c respec tively. Based on the results, the th ree-stage evolution rule of the fatigue stiffness, maximum(minimum) longitudina l strain and damage were analyzed, and a unified S-N curve to calculate fati gue strength factors was worked out. The results show that the fatigue strength and fa tigue life under triaxial constant-amplitude tension-compression cyclic loadin g are smaller than those under uniaxial fatigue condition. Moreover, the secondary strain creep rate is related to the fatigue life, a formula for describing thei r relation was derived. The investigation of this paper can provide information for the fatigue design of concrete structures.展开更多

While detecting changes in brain function in patients with acute hemorrhagic anemia is helpful for preventing neurological complications and evaluating therapeutic effects, clinical changes in the nervous systems of these patients have not received much attention. In part, this is because current techniques can only indirectly detect changes in brain function following onset of anemia, which leads to lags between real changes in brain function and their detection.展开更多

We use first-principles calculation to investigate the ideal strength and elastic behavior under the tensile and shear loads. The relation between the ideal strength and elastic constants is found. The uniaxial tension of NiAl and NiTi along <001> crystal direction leads to the change from tetragonal path to orthogonal path, which is driven by the vanishing of the shear constant C(66). The shear failure under {110}{111} shear deformation occurring in process of tension may result in a small ideal tensile strength(~ 2 GPa) for NiTi. The unlikeness in the ideal strength of Ni Al and Ni Ti alloys is discussed based on the charge density difference.展开更多

Meanwhile, a comparison is made between the results of the analytical solution and those calculated from the classic mechanics theory, assuming the tension modulus is equal to the compression modulus, and those from the finite element method (FEM) numerical solution. The comparison shows that the analytical solution considers well the effects caused by the condition of different tension and compression modulus. Finally, a calculation correction of the structure with different modulus is proposed to optimize the structure.展开更多

Finally, the joints lose the resistance to the external force. At present, as there is no deciding method of the fatigue strength (fatigue life), this paper proposed it from the result obtained by bending test for fillet welded joints. Judging initiation of the fatigue crack from the measured value of strain gages, there was a possibility that the fatigue crack occurred at both sides of fillet welded joints. However, this was a different result from that of macrograph of cross section. On the other hand, the results obtained by FSM (field signature method) coincided with the result of macrograph of cross section. For the initial state, potential difference obtained by the electrostatic analysis based on FEM (finite element method) and that by FSM was accurately coincided. After confirming validity of the crack model for analysis, the crack model was specified by reproducing the propagating process of crack accurately through trial and error. It was concluded that the state which could not resist to the external force was regarded as fatigue strength based on equivalent stress obtained by elastic stress analysis for specified crack model. From the experimental result, it was proposed that 90% of repetition number corresponding to the state which could not resist to the external force (at the finish of the test) was regarded as fatigue strength (fatigue life) in consideration of safety and as the first approximation.展开更多
