The treatment effectiveness of patients with relapse was evaluated throughout the year. The control group was the blood plasma of 14 healthy people. Free radical activity and oxidative modification of proteins were assessed in blood plasma. In malignant neoplasms of epithelial tissues, free radical activity and oxidative modification of plasma proteins are significantly higher. At the initial stages of carcinogenesis, the oxidative modification level of plasma proteins increases both due to aldehyde and ketone carbonyl derivatives. In the terminal stage of malignant tumors, an increase in the oxidative modification of proteins occurs due to aliphatic ketone dinitrophenyl hydrazones, which are the markers of protein aggregation characteristic of the late stages of oxidative stress. In case of an objective response to polychemotherapy, there is a significant decrease in free radical plasma activity after the first course of therapy and a significant increase in carbonyl derivatives recorded at a wavelength of 230 nm, which can serve as a marker of its effectiveness.展开更多

Compounds with close polarities were collected to obtain between three and four fractions from each juice or extract. The cranberry phenols are good free radi-cal-scavengers, but they were less efficient at inhibiting the lipid peroxidation. Of all the samples tested, the intermediate polarity fraction of extract rich in apolar phenolic compounds of fruit presented the highest antiradical activity while the most hydrophobic fractions of the anthocyanin-rich extract from fruit and pomace appeared to be the most efficient at inhibiting the lipid peroxidation. The antioxidant or pro-oxidant activity of fractions increased with the con-centration. The phenol polarity and the technological process to manufacture cranberry juice can influence the antioxidant and antiradical activities of fractions.展开更多

Agar well-diffusion and broth microdilution methods were used to assess the antimicrobial potential of hydroethanolic extracts from plant organs. Phytochemical compounds, total phenol and condensed tannin content, and free radical scavenging activity were determined in the three extracts. The results of the antimicrobial tests showed that the extract of P. muellerianus leaves was the most active on Staphylococcus strains, with inhibition diameters of 17 to 23 mm and minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of between 2.5 and 10 mg/mL. Tannins, saponins, alkaloids and flavonoids were found in all extracts. The P. muellerianus leaf extract has 4.23 ± 0.25 mgAGE/g of total phenols, the stem extract has 2.96 ± 0.05 mgCE/g of condensed tannins and the root extract expressed a higher antiradical compounds content (0.125 ± 0.003 mgAAE/g). The results of this study demonstrate the antimicrobial and free radical scavenging potential of the plant and contribute to justify its use in traditional medicine.展开更多

Comparison of its formation in microsomal biotransformation of CCl4 was made. In aerobic nuclear activation mixtures containing NADPH and CCl4, significant decrease in the arachidonic acid content of nuclear lipids was observed (27. 8%, compared to control), the intensity of this decrease was lower than that occurring in the corresponding microsomal incubation mixtures (29.1%). Significant decreases in arachidonic acid content of nuclear and endoplasmic reticulum lipids were also observed in animals at 6 hours of poisoning with the haloalkane. During aerobic nuclear metabolism of CCl4 or CBrCl3, cholesterol oxidation products were detected: a ketocholesterol, an epoxide like structure and 7-ketocholesterol. Nuclear protein carbonyl formation was not promoted during nuclear CCl4 biotransformation. NADPH by itself may lead to protein carbonyl formation during prolonged periods of incubation. CBrCl3 in contrast, led to decreased protein carbonyl formation. No increase in nuclear protein carbonyl formation was observed in CCl4 intoxicated animals during periods of time between 1 to 6 hours after treatment. The results indicate that during nuclear biotransformation of CCl4 or CBrCl3 reactive free radicals, PUFA degradation, reactive aldehydes and cholesterol oxidation products are formed, nearby DNA and regulatory proteins.展开更多

Therefore, the effects of vacuum drying, storage and freezing on the anthocyanin content and their antioxidant properties of Iresine herbstii L. flowers were investigated. The results showed that fresh samples (AEFF) had the highest amount of total anthosyanin content (8.31 ± 0.23 mg/g dry matter, expressed as cyaniding 3-glucoside equivalents), followed by 7.17 ± 0.12 mg/g solid content, 13.72% loss of vacuum dried samples (AEDF). In comparison with fresh samples, total anthocyanins in stored samples for two weeks at 5°C (AESF) and frozen samples during 1 (AEZF1) and 3 months (AEZF3) of storage were significantly (P < 0.01) reduced to 6.43 ± 0.24 mg/g solid content, 22.63% loss, 5.65 ± 0.33 mg/g solid content, 32.01% loss and 4.71 ± 0.51 mg/g solid content, 43.33% loss, respectively. Anthocyanins from I. herbstii L. flowers exhibited a dose-dependent (AEFF > AEDF > AESF > AEZF1 > AEZF3, respectively) antioxidant activity against lipid peroxidation in a linoleic acid model system as well as strong reducing power and ferrous ion chelating abilities. Moreover, the anthocyanins extracted were found to show remarkable scavenging activity on superoxide anion radicals, hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen peroxide, nitric oxide radicals and deoxyribose degradation. Based on the results obtained, we can concluded that the Iresine herbstii L. flowers may be valuable natural antioxidant sources and are potentially applicable in both pharmacy and food展开更多

Chunxing) fruits maturation and senescence were investigated in this study. The results showed that the soluble Ca2+ content and SOD activity in fruits tended to decline and O2 production rate to increase, the Ca2 + -ATPase activity peaked at first and then declined during fruits maturation and senescence. There were the highest CaM content at white stage in preharvest fruits and at marked senescence stage in postharvest ones. The above biochemical changes in fruits stored at low temperature (4℃)were slower than those stored at normal temperature(25℃). Thus, it indicated that the stimulation of calcium messenger system and accumulation of active oxygen free radical were closely related to fruits maturation and senescence.展开更多

In the sample preparation, 60% ethanol was chosen as the extraction solvent for the subsequent experiments. Folin-Cicolteau phenol reagent and a colorimetric method were used to determine the total phenolic content of the selected herbs. The result showed that total phenolic content of those herbs ranged from 2 to 185 mg/g. In antioxidant assay, the ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) values ranged from 2 to 134 mg GAE/g;the IC50 values of DPPH?·, ·OH and ?scavenging were in the range of 0.06 - 5.50 mg/mL, 0.017 - 0.636 mg/mL and 0.050 - 0.681 mg/mL respectively. Flos caryophylli was the exceptant in the ?scavenging assay because there was no linear relation between the concentration and the scavenging percentage. Compared to gallic acid, ascorbic acid and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in antioxidant assay as positive control, the most potential antioxidant herbs were Cacumen platycladi, Radix et Rhizoma rhei, Rhizoma rhodiolae crenulatae, and Rhizoma sanguisorbae with considerable content of phenolics. Especially, a positive and significant correlation was found between the total phenolic content and FRAP value or DPPH· scavenging percentage.展开更多

文摘The chemical activation of various precursors is effective for creating additional closed pores in hard carbons for sodium storage. However, the formation mechanism of closed pores under the influence of pore-forming agents is not well understood.Herein,an effective chemical activation followed by a high-temperature self-healing strategy is employed to generate interconnected closed pores in lignin-derived hard carbon(HCs).By systematic experimental design combined with electron paramagnetic res-onance spectroscopy,it can be found that the content of free radicals in the carbon matrix influences the closure of open pores at high temperatures.Excessively high activation temperature(>700 C)leads to a low free radical concentration, making it difficult to achieve self-healing of open pores at high tempera-tures.By activation at 700°C,a balance between pore making and self-healing is achieved in the final hard carbon.A large number of free radicals triggers rapid growth and aggregation of carbon microcrys-tals,blocking pre-formed open micropores and creating additional interconnected closed pores in as-obtained hard carbons. As a result, the optimized carbon anode(LK-700-1300)delivers a high reversible capacity of 330.8 mA h g^(-1) at 0.03 A g^(-1),which is an increase of 86 mA h g^(-1) compared to the pristine lignin-derived carbon anode(L-700-1300),and exhibits a good rate performance(202.1 mA h g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1)).This work provides a universal and effective guidance for tuning closed pores of hard carbons from otherprecursors.
文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial and antiradical properties of extracts from the leaves, stems and roots of Phyllanthus muellerianus, a plant used in traditional Togolese medicine. The results of this study demonstrate the antimicrobial and free radical scavenging potential of the plant and contribute to justify its use in traditional medicine.

文摘Objective:To evaluate in vitro antioxidant and antibacterial activity of methanolic extract of Arnebia benthamii(A.benthamii) whole plant. Methods:Plasmid damage was analyzed by agarose gell electrophoresis.Calf thymus DNA was monitored by TBARS formation.DPPH, reducing power and lipid peroxidation was evaluated by using standard procedures.Antibacterial assay was monitored by disc diffusion method. Results:DPPH radical scavenging and hydroxyl radical scavenging potential of the plant revealed that the extract to be active radical scavenger.Reducing(Fe3+-Fe2+) power and lipid peroxidation inhibition efficiency(TBARS assay) of the extract was also evaluated and the extract showed promising activity in preventing lipid peroxidation and might prevent oxidative damages to biomolecules. The extract offered a significant protection against plasmid and calf thymus UNA damage induced by hydroxyl radicals. The extract was also evaluated on different bacterial strains and the maximum antibacterial activity was exhibited against Escherichia coli(E.coli) when compared with standard drug. Conclusions:These findings demonstrate that the methanol extract of A.benthamii has excellent anti-oxidant activities and could be considered as a potential source of lead molecules for pharmaceutical industries.
文摘The formation of·CCl3 radicals in liver nuclei was suggested by spin trapping of them with N-t-butyl-α-phenylnitrone followed by GC/MS detection of the resulting adduct. The results indicate that during nuclear biotransformation of CCl4 or CBrCl3 reactive free radicals, PUFA degradation, reactive aldehydes and cholesterol oxidation products are formed, nearby DNA and regulatory proteins.
文摘Any processing method that maintains the level of compounds known for their health benefits will be of interest to the food industries. Based on the results obtained, we can concluded that the Iresine herbstii L. flowers may be valuable natural antioxidant sources and are potentially applicable in both pharmacy and food

文摘A new series of Schiff base ligands were synthesized by the condensation of 2-amino-5-mercaptan-l,3,4-thiadiazole and salicylaldehyde or 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde and their derivatives with choroacetic acid, and further reaction with corresponding metal acetate to form metal complexes. The compositions and structures of the ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductivities, electronic absorption spectra and infra-red spectra. Their inhibition rates to free radical, such as O2, were also tested. The results show that all of the obtained complexes display significant activities, among which the copper(Ⅱ) complexes have the best inhibitive effects.

文摘The changes in content of Ca2 + and CaM, Ca2 + -ATPase activity and active oxygen metabolism during strawberry (Fragaria ananassa Duch. cv. Thus, it indicated that the stimulation of calcium messenger system and accumulation of active oxygen free radical were closely related to fruits maturation and senescence.

文摘In order to enhance the water-solubility and biological utilization rate of chrysin, sodium 5,7-dihydroxylflavone-8-sulfonate (1, [Na(H2O)1/2]X, X = C15H9OSO3, 5,7-dihydroxylfla- vone-8-sulfonate) was synthesized and its structure was identified on the basis of NMR, FT-IR and elemental analysis. The assembly of 5,7-dihydroxylflavone-8-sulfonate with diethylamide cation afforded diethylamide 5,7-dihydroxylflavone-8-sulfonate (2, NH2(CH2CH3)2X) which was characterized by FT-IR and elemental analysis. The crystal structures of 1 and 2 were determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. The crystal of 1 is of triclinic system, space group P1, with a = 8.5628(13), b = 12.8916(19), c = 13.562(2) A, α = 82.494(1), β = 78.601(2), γ = 84.033(2)°, C30H20Na2O15S2, Z = 2, Mr = 730.59, V = 1450.3(4) A3, Dc = 1.673 g/cm3, F(000) = 748, p = 0.295 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0641 and wR = 0.1458. The crystal of 2 crystallizes in the triclinic system, space group Pi, with a = 7.689(2), b = 11.184(3), c = 11.734(3) A, α = 74.268(3), βl = 81.751(4), γ= 87.991(3)°, C19H21NO7S, Z = 2, Mr= 407.43, V= 961.2(4) A3, Dc = 1.408 g/cm3, F(000) = 428, p = 0.210 mm^-1, the final R = 0.0484 and wR = 0.1195. In 1, the three-dimensional structure is organized into organic and inorganic regions; the flavone skeletons are stacked into organic regions by π...π staeking interactions; inorganic regions are generated by Na-O coordination bonds among sulfonate groups, coordinated water molecules and NaI. The sulfonate groups play an important role as a bridge of inorganic and organic regions. One-dimensional chain structure of 2 is extended by N-H…O hydrogen bonds and π...π stacking interactions. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity of 1 was evaluated. The scavenging activity of 1 to DPPH free radical is better than that of the parent compound chrysin.
文摘This study was designed to determine the total phenolic content of 50 herbs and to examine their antioxidant potential. Especially, a positive and significant correlation was found between the total phenolic content and FRAP value or DPPH· scavenging percentage.
