A method of designing an E-plane power combiner composed of two quarter-arc bent rectangular waveguides is proposed for sub-THz and THz waves. The quarter-arc bent-waveguide power combiner has a simple geometry which is easy to design and fabricate. By HFSS codes, the physical mechanism and performance of the power combiner are analyzed, and the relationship between the output characteristics and the structure/operating parameters is given. Simulation results show that our power combiner is suitable for the combining of two equalpower and reversed-phase signals, the bandwidth of the combiner is wide and can be adjusted by the radius of the quarter-arc, and the isolation performance of the combiner can be improved by adding thin film resistive septa at the junction of two quarter-arc bent waveguides. Meanwhile, an approximate method based on the analytic geometrical analysis is given to design this power combiner for different frequency bands. 展开更多

The body channel based wireless power transfer(BC-WPT)method utilizes the human body as the medium to transfer power for bioelectronics,which can achieve a lower transmission loss due to its higher conductivity.However,except for the channel length,different on-body loca-tions of the transmitter and receiver also influence the power supply performance.This paper fo-cuses on the wrist-to-forehead path to show the potential of BC-WPT for the brain bioelectronics such as the brain computer interface device.The channel characteristics from 10 MHz to 60 MHz are measured by a vector network analyzer(VNA)and a prototype BC-WPT system with differ-ent copper electrodes and the lowest power loss locates between-22 dB and-33 dB.Furthermore,the minimum path loss limit is simulated in Advanced Design System(ADS)software and the low-est optimum path loss can reach nearly-13 dB.Finally,a rectifier circuit is also built at the receiv-er side to harvest d.c.voltage.The results show that the open-circuit voltage(OCV)can reach 1.75 V with the transmitter of 50Ωoutput impedance supplying 5V_(pp)sine voltage at 60 MHz when adopt-ing 1 cm-diameter circular electrodes. 展开更多

A Clean Technology for Future Prospective: Emission Modeling of Gas Based Power Plant

The aim of present research is to study the dispersion of air pollutants using the air quality model, AERMOD and to predict the impact of pollutants (PM<sub>10</sub>, NO<sub>2</sub> and CO) at the receptor level released from Gas Based Power Plant (GBPP). The net-concentrations including monitored data plus predicted values of PM<sub>10</sub>, NO<sub>2</sub> and CO would be increased from base value 75 to 77.61 μg/m<sup>3</sup> with an increase of 3.48%, 22 to 26.66 μg/m<sup>3</sup> with an increase of 21.18% and 428 to 538.37 μg/m<sup>3</sup> with an increase of 25.79% respectively. The study of hill effect showed that it had profound impact upon the dispersion of pollutants and the ratio (with hill and without hill) of each pollutant was 3.89 for PM<sub>10</sub> (24 hr), 2.40 for NO<sub>2</sub> (24 hr) and 13.98 for CO (1 hr). The natural gas based plant not only decreases the pollution level but also reduces the hospital treatment cost and protects the public health. The modeling results suggest that the GBPP could be a clean technology as replacement of coal power plants located in the city which pollute the environment considerably in spite of control measures installed. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the small signal stability analysis of Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) fed wind power system under three modes of operation. The system stability is affected by the influence of electromechanical oscillations, which can be damped using Power System Stabilizer (PSS). A detailed modeling of DFIG fed wind system including controller has been carried out. The damping controller is designed using fuzzy logic to damp the oscillatory modes for stability. The robust performance of the system with controllers has been evaluated using eigen value analysis and time domain simulations under various disturbances and wind speeds. The effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy based PSS is compared with the performance of conventional PSS implemented in the wind system. 展开更多

This work proposes an alternative strategy to the use of a speed sensor in <span style="white-space:normal;font-size:10pt;font-family:;" "="">the implementation of active and reactive power based model reference adaptive system (PQ-MRAS) estimator in order to calculate the rotor and stator resistances of an induction motor (IM) and the use of these parameters for the detection of inter-turn short circuits (ITSC) faults in the stator of this motor. The rotor and stator resistance estimation part of the IM is performed by the PQ-MRAS method in which the rotor angular velocity is reconstructed from the interconnected high gain observer (IHGO). The ITSC fault detection part is done by the derivation of stator resistance estimated by the PQ-</span><span style="white-space:normal;font-size:10pt;font-family:;" "="">MRAS estimator. In addition to the speed sensorless detection of ITSC faults of the IM, an approach to determine the number of shorted turns based on the difference between the phase current of the healthy and faulty machine is proposed. Simulation results obtained from the MATLAB/Simulink platform have shown that the PQ-MRAS estimator using an interconnected high-</span><span style="white-space:normal;font-size:10pt;font-family:;" "="">gain observer gives very similar results to those using the speed sensor. Introduction:The development of coal power base(CPB)poses a severe challenge to the soil.We conducted a soil survey in Xilinhot CPB,to evaluate and analyze the pollution characteristics,potential ecological risk,and sources of six heavy metals(As,Pb,Cu,Zn,Mn,and Cd)in soil by using Geo-accumulation index,revised Nemerow integrated pollution index(RNIPI),and potential ecological risk index(RI).Outcomes/other:The results showed that the pollution of Cd and As were dramatic.The mean of Cd and As were 1.11 mg·kg^(-1) and 25.13 mg·kg^(-1),which were 42.55 times and 4.41 times higher than its local background value.The Geo-accumulation indices showed the contamination degree of Cd was strong and As was moderate,and the status of Cu,Pb,Zn,and Mn were uncontaminated.Xilinhot was strongly contaminated based on its RNIPI and RI values.Discussion:The accumulations of As,Pb,and Cd were mainly associated with anthropogenic sources,including coal mining and combustion,and industrial exhaust emissions.Cu,Mn,and Zn were primarily originated from the parent material(natural sources).Conclusion:This study provides scientific basis and effective countermeasures for the prevention and control of soil pollution in surrounding areas of CPB. 展开更多

Furthermore, the control mechanism of DVAs on the transmission characteristics of the power flow is revealed. To reduce the probability of commutation failure(CF)of a line commutated converter based high-voltage direct current(LCC-HVDC)transmission,a DC chopper topology composed of power consumption sub-modules based on thyristor full-bridge module(TFB-PCSM)is proposed.Firstly,the mechanism of the proposed topology to mitigate CF is analyzed,and the working modes of TFB-PCSM in different operation states are introduced.Secondly,the coordinated control strategy between the proposed DC chopper and LCC-HVDC is designed,and the voltage-current stresses of the TFB-PCSMs are investigated.Finally,the ability to mitigate the CF issues and the fault recovery performance of LCC-HVDC system are studied in PSCAD/EMTDC.The results show that the probability of CF of LCC-HVDC is significantly reduced,and the performances of fault recovery are effectively improved by the proposed DC chopper. 展开更多

Coordinated multi-point transmission and reception (CoMP) for single user, named as SU-CoMP, is considered as an efficient approach to mitigate inter-cell interference in orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems. Two prevalent approaches in SU-CoMP are coordinated scheduling (CS) and joint processing (JP). Although JP in SU-CoMP has been proved to achieve a great link performance improvement for the cell-edge user, efficient resource allocation (RA) on the system level is quite needed. However, so far limited work has been done considering JP, and most existing schemes achieved the improvement of cell-edge performance at cost of the cell-average performance degradation compared to the single cell RA. In this paper, a two-phase strategy is proposed for SU-CoMP networks. CS and JP are combined to improve both cell-edge and cell-average performance. Compared to the single cell RA, simulation results demonstrate that, the proposed strategy leads to both higher cell-average and cell-edge throughput. 展开更多
