The study area was divided into spatial homogenous sites using slope, aspect, and soil humidity classes. Then a range of sites along the disturbance gradient was selected for sampling. Chemical and physical indicators of soil and litter health were measured at random points within these sites. Structural equation modeling(SEM) was applied to link six constructs of landscape heterogeneity, three constructs of disturbance(harvest, livestock, and human accessibility), and soil and litter health. The results showed that with decreasing accessibility, the total N and organic matter content of soil increased and effective bulk density decreased. Harvesting activities increased soil organic matter. Therefore, it is concluded that disturbances through harvesting and accessibility inversely affect the soil health. Unexpectedly, it was found that the litter total C and C:N ratio improved with an increase in the harvest and accessibility disturbances, whereas litter bulk density decreased. Investigation of tree composition revealed that in the climax communities, which are normally affected more by harvesting activities, some species like Fagus orientalis Lipsky with low decomposition rate are dominant. The research results showed that changes in disturbance intensity are reflected in litter and soil indicators, whereas the SEM indicated that landscape heterogeneity has a moderator effect on the disturbance to both litter and soil paths.展开更多

However, the obtained results are different. Through repeated experiments, some different and useful information are got, which benefits us in that PL properties of porous silicon can be fully made use of. Firstly, samples with porosity of 76% and 49% were chosen to study the exciting temperature effects on the PL spectrum. For the samples with low porosity, the decreasing temperature causes the peak wavelength to be red-shifting and that of the samples with high porosity to present the blue-shifting trend. The light intensity of both reaches the maximum at -10℃. These experimental results can be well explained with the synthesized center PL model based on the quantum confinement model, other than the PL efficiency function σ(λ). Thereafter, PL properties of PS samples fabricated separately under the temperature of -10℃, 0℃, 10℃, 20℃ and 30℃ were studied. The results indicate that with the decrease of the etching temperature, the PL intensity increases from 406.7 to 716.6 and the peak wavelength blue-shifts from 698.9nm to 671.8nm. The WHFM of the PL spectrum dramatically narrows. At the same time, the images observed by AFM show that with the decreasing temperature, the holes are becoming deeper and the porosity is higher, which suggests that the decreasing temperature accelerates the etching rate.展开更多

We investigated the potential of NIR spectroscopy in diffuse reflectance mode for determining the soluble solid content (SSC) and acidity (pH) of intact loquats. Two cultivars of loquats (Dahongpao and Jiajiaozhong) harvested from two orchards (Tangxi and Chun'an, Zhejiang, China) were used for the measurement of NIR spectra between 800 and 2500 nm. A total of 400 loquats (100 samples of each cultivar from each orchard) were used in this study. Relationships between NIR spectra and SSC and acidity of loquats were evaluated using partial least square (PLS) method. Spectra preprocessing options included the first and second derivatives, multiple scatter correction (MSC), and the standard normal variate (SNV). Three separate spectral windows identified as full NIR (800-2500 nm), short NIR (800-1100 rim), and long NIR (1100-2500 nm) were studied in factorial combination with the preprocessing options. The models gave relatively good predictions of the SSC of loquats, with root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) values of 1.21, 1.00, 0.965, and 1.16 °Brix for Tangxi-Dahongpao, Tangxi-Jiajiaozhong, Chun'an-Dahongpao, and Chun'an-Jiajiaozhong, respectively. The acidity prediction was not satisfactory, with the RMSEP of 0.382, 0.194, 0.388, and 0.361 for the above four loquats, respectively. The results indicate that NIR diffuse reflectance spectroscopy can be used to predict the SSC and acidity of loquat fruit.展开更多
