Current strategies for improved survival in patients with Barrett's adenocarcinoma focus on detection of dysplasia. This can be obtained by screening programs in high-risk cohorts of patients and/or endoscopic biopsy surveillance of patients with known Barrett's esophagus (BE). Several therapies have been developed in attempts to reverse BE and reduce cancer risk. Aggressive medical management of acid reflux, lifestyle modifications, antireflux surgery, and endoscopic treatments have been recommended for many patients with BE. Whether these interventions are cost-effective or reduce mortality from esophageal cancer remains controversial. Current treatment requires combinations of endoscopic mucosal resection techniques to eliminate visible lesions followed by ablation of residual metaplastic tissue. Esophagectomy is currently indicated in multifocal high-grade neoplasia or mucosal Barrett's carcinoma which cannot be managed by endoscopic approach.展开更多

While many companies retain their executive leadership as chief knowledge officers (CKOs) and vice presidents of knowledge management, the trend toward appointing CKOs that developed in the late 1990's has been reversed at many companies and a new trend is to assign the strategic functions of knowledge management to the chief information officer (CIO). This new strategic approach has many ramifications that determine if the firm will be able to meet not only short-term objectives but firm mission strategic outcomes as well. This paper researches over 100 knowledge management executives respondents in a broad cross-section of medium and large US industries and organizations to question why the shift is occurring and what the strategic basis is for this shift? The results of this study clearly show that there are pros and cons to make this strategic shift and that many firms are doing so with little actual factual knowledge of the strategic effects on performance or intellectual capital formation. This paper and empirical ftrm performance and patent research is designed to give that top manager (CEO) the appropriate information to make rational decisions based on facts when considering eliminating or consolidation of CKO into the CIO function. Decisions on CLO and CKO positions should be based on the fu'm related performance in both measurable intellectual property and financial results. The results are presented and summarized and the statistical methodology of regression and correlation are used in this paper.展开更多

Twelve permanent transects were set in three distinct functional zones from February to April 2012 and May to July 2013. A total of 112 ungulate signs were recorded on these transects. In addition, 20 camera traps were used to survey ungulates and predators in 2012, while the following year we extended the survey site by using 30 cameras. Overall, 6641 capture events on 2930 camera days were obtained, presenting a variety of ungulate spe- cies: muntjak (Muntiacus muntjak), tufted deer (Elaphodus cephalophus), serow (Capricornis sumatraensis) and wild boar (Sus scrofa). Population structure and composition of ungulates was compared in different functional zones using a single factor of variance analysis in SPSS software. Significant differences in the distribution of un- gulates were recognized between the core zone and experimental zone, but not in other zones due to differences in habitat types and management practices of the nature reserve. Using ArcGIS analysis and Salford Predictive Modeler software, we ran several predictive models to understand which areas are most suitable for ungulates. We conclude that muntjac and wild boar are mainly distributed in the experimental zone, serow are more common in the core zone, while tufted deer are located evenly in the three functional zones. Finally, suggestions for effective and feasible management strategies and techniques for Matoushan National Nature Reserve were recom- mended based on the results and analysis in this study.展开更多

Finally, suggestions for effective and feasible management strategies and techniques for Matoushan National Nature Reserve were recom- mended based on the results and analysis in this study.

文摘As a new branch of efficient and low-cost mechanical energy conversion technology, triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG)is a potential solution to provide a long-term power supply for the Internet of Things(IoT)sensors and portable electronic devices. However, due to inherent working properties of TENG itself such as extremely high internal impedance, pulse, and alternating current(AC)output,TENG can not directly supply power to loads such as batteries efficiently.Based on these,we describe TENG’s performance from a new perspective of powering ability. It consists of two aspects:the ability to transport charge effectively and the ability to output high power quality current steadily. In order to push forward the developments and applications of TENG,it is necessary to improve its power supply capacity from different perspectives.Fortunately,in recent years,a variety of output signal’s management strategies aiming at effectively managing the generated electricity and significantly improving powering ability of TENG have obtained significantly progress.Herein, this paper discusses the working mechanisms and different load characteristics of TENG at first to clarify the electric performance of TENG.Then,on basis of theoretical analysis, the output signal’s management strategies are elaborated from four aspects:improving the cycle output electricity of TENG,increasing the surface charge density of TENG,improving the power quality of TENG-based energy harvesting system, promoting the application of TENG through integrated circuit(IC)technology and TENG network, and the relevant principles and applications are discussed systematically. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the above output signal’s management strategies are summarized and discussed, and the future development of the output signal’s management strategies for TENG is prospected.
