We have studied the ground state configurations of a rotating Bose-Einstein condensation in a toroidal trap as the radius of the central Ganssian potentiaJ expands adiabatically. Firstly, we observe that the vortices are devoured successively into the central hole of the condensate to form a giant vortex as the radius of the trap expands. When all the pre-existing vortices are absorbed, the angular momentum of the system still increase as the radius of the ganssian potential enlarges. When increasing the interaction strength, we find that more singly quantized vortices are squeezed into the condensate, but the giant vortex does not change. 展开更多

We study the Bose–Einstein condensation of parallel light in a two-dimensional nonlinear optical cavity,where the massive photons are converted into photon molecules(p-molecules).We extend the classical-field method to provide a description of the two-component system,and we also derive a coupled density equation which can be used to describe the conversion relation between photons and p-molecules.Furthermore,we obtain the chemical potential of the system,and we also find that the system can transform from the mixed photon and p-molecule condensate phase into a pure p-molecule condensate phase.Additionally,we investigate the collective excitation of the system.We also discuss the problem how the spontaneous decay of an atom is influenced by both the phase transition and collective excitation of the coupling system. 展开更多

We investigate the energy-level shift of a hydrogen atom in a two-dimensional optical microcavity, where there exists a Bose-Einstein condensation of photons. It is found that below the critical temperature Tc, the energy-level shift of the bound electron is dependent on temperature, and it is a monotonically increasing function of the absolute temperature T. Especially, at the absolute zero temperature, the energy-level shift entirely comes from the Lamb shift, and the atom can be treated approximately, that is, in vacuum. 展开更多

The trap is loaded from a large atom number magneto-optical trap realized by a laser system of Z5-W intracavity-frequency-doubled light output at 671 nm. With this system, we also demonstrate the production of a molecular Bose-Einstein condensate (reBEC) of 6Li2, and observe the anisotropic expansion of Fermi gases in the so-called BEC-Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer crossover regime. 展开更多

We study the influence of the phase noises of far detuning single frequency lasers on the lifetime of Bose-Einstein condensation(BEC)of^(87)Rb in an optical dipole trap.As a comparison,we shine a continuous-wave singlefrequency Ti:sapphire laser,an external-cavity diode laser and a phase-locked diode laser on BEC.We measure the heating and lifetime of BEC in two different hyperfine states:|F=2,m_F=2〉and|F=1,m_F=1〉.Due to the narrow linewidth and small phase noise,the continuous-wave single-frequency Ti:sapphire laser has less influence on the lifetime of^(87)Rb BEC than the external-cavity diode laser.To reduce the phase noise of the external-cavity diode laser,we use an optical phase-locked loop for the external-cavity diode laser to be locked on a Ti:sapphire laser.The lifetime of BEC is increased when applfying the phase-Jocked diode laser in contrast with the external-cavity diode laser. 展开更多

This paper reports an experiment of creating Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) on an atom chip. The chip-based Z-wire current with a homogeneous bias magnetic field creates a tight magnetic trap, which allows for a fast production of BEC. After a 4.17-s forced radio frequency evaporative cooling, a condensate with about 3000 atoms appears. The transition temperature is about 300 nK. This compact system is quite robust, allowing for versatile extensions and further studying of BEC. 展开更多

In this paper, We demonstrate an approach to determine the phase transition point and critical temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation. During the fitting sequence of time-of-flight images, for just one picture we take four kinds of different calculations instead of only one. By calculating the quantitative least-square errors, which have always been neglected before, we find out that this value can act as a criterion to judge the status of atom clouds. Using this criterion, we can not only discriminate the status around the phase transition point, but can also find the critical point precisely. Also with this method, we can achieve the totally automatical running of calculating programs without human's judgments. 展开更多

The Josephson effect,an important quantum supercurrent phenomenon,has been extensively studied in superconductors and superfluids.In this paper,we investigate the rich physics of one-dimensional Josephson junctions in a red-detuned optical lattice with sodium(Na)quantum gas.A one-dimensional Josephson array is formed by setting up an optical lattice using a red-detuned laser.By characterizing the dependence of Josephson oscillations of the lattice depth,we experimentally demonstrate the Josephson current.The lattice depth is controlled by altering the lattice power,and our observations are consistent with theoretical predictions.These findings offer valuable insights into quantum coherent transport and the intricate dynamics inherent to superfluidity. 展开更多

Kármán vortex street not only exists in nature,but also widely appears in engineering practice,which is of great significance for understanding superfluid.Parity-time(PT)symmetric potential provides a good platform for the study of Kármán vortex streets.In this paper,different patterns of vortex shedding formed behind PT symmetric potential in Bose-Einstein condensate(BEC)are simulated numerically.Kármán vortex streets and others are discovered to emerge in the wake of a moving obstacle with appropriate parameters.Compared with BEC without PT symmetric potential,the frequency and amplitude of the drag force are more complex.The parametric regions of the combined modes are scattered around the Kármán vortex street.Numerical simulations indicate that the imaginary part of the PT symmetric potential affects the vortex structure patterns.Finally,we proposed an experimental protocol that may observe a Kármán vortex street. 展开更多

Study on the condensation behavior of magnesium vapor by flow field disturbance under relative vacuum

Compared with Pidgeon process,the relative vacuum continuous magnesium smelting process reduces the ratio of material to magnesium by changing raw materials and the direct reduction after calcination of prefabricated pellets,so that the energy consumption per ton of magnesium produced is reduced by 30∼40%,and the carbon emission is reduced by 43∼52%,breaking through the vacuum conditions to achieve continuous production.However,in the process of industrialization,it was found that the magnesium yield in the condenser was low.Therefore,this paper constructs a condenser model of relative vacuum continuous magnesium refining process,and comprehensively analyzes the condensation mechanism of magnesium vapor through simulation and experiment.It is found that the dynamic characteristics of magnesium vapor condensation is an important index to measure its continuity.Under the condition offlowing argon as the protective gas,when the condensation plate spacing is 10 cm,the surface roughness amplitude variance is 2,and the carrier gasflow rate is 20×10^(-3) m/s,the magnesium vapor has a better condensation effect,and the condensation efficiency formula is derived. 展开更多

Elastomers are widely used in various fields owing to their excellent tensile properties.Recyclable and self-healing properties are key to extending the service life of elastomers.Accumulating evidence indicates that dynamic covalent chemistry has emerged as a powerful tool for constructing recyclable and self-healing materials.In this work,we demonstrate the preparation of a recyclable and self-healable polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)elastomer based on the Knoevenagel condensation(KC)reaction.This PDMS elastomer was prepared by the KC reaction catalyzed by 4-dimethylaminopyridine(DMAP).The obtained PDMS elastomer exhibited an elongation at break of 266%,a tensile strength of 0.57 MPa,and a good thermal stability(Td=357℃).In addition,because of the presence of dynamic C=C bonds formed by the KC reaction and low glass transition temperature(Tg=-117℃).This PDMS exhibited good self-healing and recycling properties at room temperature and could be reprocessed by hot pressing.In addition,the PDMS elastomer exhibits good application prospects in the fields of adhesives and flexible electronic devices. 展开更多

Design and fabrication of triangle-pattern superwettability hybrid surface with high-efficiency condensation heat transfer performance

Utilizing superwettability micro/nanostructures to enhance the condensation heat transfer(CHT)performance of engineering materials has attracted great interest due to its values in basic research and technological innovations.Currently,exploring facile micro/nanofabrication approaches to create high-efficiency CHT surfaces has been one of research hotspots.In this work,we propose and demonstrate a type of new superwettability hybrid surface for high-efficiency CHT,which consists of superhydrophobic nanoneedle arrays and triangularly-patterned superhydrophilic microdots(SMDs).Such hybrid surface can be fabricated by the facile growth of densely-packed ZnO nanoneedles on the Zn-electroplated copper surface followed by fluorosilane modification and mask-assisted photodegradation.Through regulating the diameters and interspaces of SMDs,we obtain the optimized triangularly-patterned hybrid surface,which shows 42.7%higher CHT coefficient than the squarely-patterned hybrid surface and 58.5%higher CHT coefficient than the superhydrophobic surface.The key of such hybrid surface design is to considerably increase CHT coefficient brought about by SMD-triggered drop sweeping at the cost of slightly reducing heat transfer area of superhydrophobic functional zone for drop jumping.Such new strategy helps develop advanced CHT surfaces for high-efficiency electronic cooling and energy utilization. 展开更多

Metal-halide perovskite nanowire array photodetectors based on the solution method are valuable in the field of polarized light detection because of their unique one-dimensional array structure and excellent photoelectric performance.However,the limited wettability of liquids poses challenges for achieving large-scale and high-quality perovskite nanowire arrays.To address this issue,we develop a facile method utilizing capillary condensation to grow high-quality centimeter-scale perovskite nanowire arrays.Based on these nanowires,the fabricated photodetector showcases specific detectivities of 1.95×10^(13)jones,surpassing commercially available silicon detectors in weak-light detection capabilities.The weak-light imaging capability of our nanowire photodetectors has been successfully demonstrated at intensities below 54 nW/cm^(2).Moreover,the nanowire arrays also display excellent polarization absorption characteristics,promising applications in polarized light detection.Notably,the perovskite nanowire arrays can be grown on flexible substrates by employing capillary condensation,which retains 83% of their properties after 20oo bending cycles.This research enhances the potential of perovskite nanowire arrays photodetector in practical applications. 展开更多

We find that in the paraxial approximation, the mixed gas of photons and photon pairs is formally equivalent to a two dimension system of massive bosons with non-vanishing chemical potential, which implies the existence of two possible condensate phase. We also discuss the quantum phase transition of the system and obtain the critical point analytically. Moreover, we find that the quantum phase transition of the system can be interpreted as second harmonic generation. 展开更多

The ground-state properties of a system with a small number of interacting bosons over a wide range of densities are investigated. The system is confined in a two-dimensional isotropic harmonic trap, where the interaction between bosons is treated as a hard-core potential. By using variational Monte Carlo method, we diagonalize the one-body density matrix of the system to obtain the ground-state energy, condensate wavefunction and the condensate fraction. We find that in the dilute limit the depletion of central condensate in the 2D system is larger than in a 3D system for the same interaction strength; however as the density increases, the depletion at the centre of 2D trap will be equal to or even lower than that at the centre of 3D trap, which is in agreement with the anticipated in Thomas-Fermi approximation. In addition, in the 2D system the total condensate depletion is still larger than in a 3D system for the same scattering length. 展开更多
