METHODS From March 2014 to January 2015, 356 patients with CRC from four different hospitals in China were enrolled in the study, and all patients self-administered the EORTC QLQ-CR29 and the quality of life core questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Evaluation of the scores was based on the Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS). The reliability and validity of the questionnaires were assessed by Cronbach's proportional to coefficient, the Spearman correlation test and Wilcoxon rank sum test. RESULTS The EORTC QLQ-CR29 showed satisfactory reliability (proportional to > 0.7), although the urinary frequency and blood and mucus in stool dimensions had only moderate reliability (proportional to = 0.608). The multitrait scaling analyses showed good convergent (r > 0.4) and discriminant validity. Significant differences were obtained for each item in the different KPS subgroups (KPS <= 80; KPS > 80). Body image and most single- item dimensions showed statistically significant differences in patients with a stoma compared with the rest of the patients. CONCLUSION The EORTC QLQ-CR29 exhibits high validity and reliability in Chinese patients with CRC, and can therefore be recommended as a valuable tool for the assessment of quality of life in these patients.展开更多
BACKGROUND We report a rare case of a large congenital hemangioma(CH)in the maxillofacial region in a female neonate that caused thrombocytopenia and heart failure.With close multidisciplinary collaboration,the congen...BACKGROUND We report a rare case of a large congenital hemangioma(CH)in the maxillofacial region in a female neonate that caused thrombocytopenia and heart failure.With close multidisciplinary collaboration,the congenital hemangioma was successfully resected with good results.CASE SUMMARY The patient was delivered at gestational age of 36 wk by cesarean section due to cephalopelvic disproportion and lack of onset of labor(birth weight:2630 g).A right-sided facial tumor was detected in the fetus during routine antenatal ultrasound examination of the mother at 32 wk of gestation.Physical examination revealed a 7 cm×7 cm×3 cm hard,dull purple-colored mass on the right maxillofacial region.The mass was tense and had prominent surface telangiectasias.Laboratory investigations revealed reduced hemoglobin and platelet count,and increased activated partial thromboplastin time,prothrombin time,and thrombin time.International normalized ratio,fibrin degradation products,and D-Dimer levels were significantly increased.Thromboelastography showed increased alpha angle,mean amplitude,and the clot formation speed.Thyroid-stimulating hormone level was significantly elevated.The patient was administered prednisone,propranolol,euthyrox,vitamin K1,milrinone,and digoxin.After operation,cefepime was administered for anti-infection and propranolol was prescribed at discharge.CONCLUSION We report a rare case of CH in the right maxillofacial region causing thrombocytopenia and heart failure.展开更多
MoS2 nanodots are emerging as promising semiconductor materials for optoelectronic devices. However, most of the recent attention is focused on the fabrication of MoS2 nanodots,and the survey for exciton dynamics of M...MoS2 nanodots are emerging as promising semiconductor materials for optoelectronic devices. However, most of the recent attention is focused on the fabrication of MoS2 nanodots,and the survey for exciton dynamics of MoS2 nanodots remains less explored. Herein, we use femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy to investigate the carrier dynamics of MoS2 nanodots. Our results show that defect-assisted carrier recombination processes are well consistent with the observed dynamics. The photo-excited carriers are captured by defects with at least two different capture rates via Auger scattering. Four processes are deemed to take part in the carrier relaxation. After photoexcitation, carrier cooling occurs instantly within ~0.5 ps. Then most of carriers are fast captured by the defects, and the corresponding time constant increases from ~4.9 ps to ~9.2 ps with increasing pump fluence, which may be interpreted by saturation of the defect states. Next a small quantity of carriers is captured by the other kinds of defects with a relatively slow carrier capture time within ~65 ps.Finally, the remaining small fraction of carriers relaxes via direct interband electron-hole recombination within~1 ns. Our results may lead to deep insight into the fundamentals of carrier dynamics in MoS2 nanodots, paving the way for their further applications.展开更多
A novel n-type junctionless field-effect transistor(JLFET) with a step-gate-oxide(SGO) structure is proposed to suppress the gate-induced drain leakage(GIDL) effect and off-state current I_(off).Introducing a 6-nm-thi...A novel n-type junctionless field-effect transistor(JLFET) with a step-gate-oxide(SGO) structure is proposed to suppress the gate-induced drain leakage(GIDL) effect and off-state current I_(off).Introducing a 6-nm-thick tunnel-gateoxide and maintaining 3-nm-thick control-gate-oxide,lateral band-to-band tunneling(L-BTBT) width is enlarged and its tunneling probability is reduced at the channel-drain surface,leading the off-state current I_(off) to decrease finally.Also,the thicker tunnel-gate-oxide can reduce the influence on the total gate capacitance of JLFET,which could alleviate the capacitive load of the transistor in the circuit applications.Sentaurus simulation shows that I_(off) of the new optimized JLFET reduced significantly with little impaction on its on-state current Ion and threshold voltage V_(TH) becoming less,thus showing an improved I_(on)/I_(off) ratio(5×10^(4)) and subthreshold swing(84 mV/dec),compared with the scenario of the normal JLFET.The influence of the thickness and length of SGO structure on the performance of JLFET are discussed in detail,which could provide useful instruction for the device design.展开更多
BACKGROUND Congenital intestinal malrotation(CIM)is a common malformation in neonates.Early diagnosis and surgical intervention can improve the prognosis.CIM combined with congenital gastric wall defect is a potential...BACKGROUND Congenital intestinal malrotation(CIM)is a common malformation in neonates.Early diagnosis and surgical intervention can improve the prognosis.CIM combined with congenital gastric wall defect is a potentially fatal condition.We present a severe case of CIM with gastric wall defect causing extensive gut necrosis and short gut syndrome.After three operations,the neonate survived and subsequently showed normal growth and development during infancy.CASE SUMMARY A male neonate(age:4 d)was hospitalized due to bloody stools and vomiting for 2 d,and abdominal distention for 1 d.Emergent exploratory laparotomy revealed black purplish discoloration of the bowel loops.Bowel alignment was abnormal with congestion and dilatation of the entire intestine,and clockwise mesentery volvulus(720°).The posterior wall of the gastric body near the greater curvature showed a defect in the muscularis layer(approximately 5.5 cm),and a circular perforation(approximately 3 cm diameter)at the center of this defect.Ladd’s procedure was performed and gastric wall defect was repaired.Third operation performed 53 d after birth revealed extensive adherence of small intestine and peritoneum,and adhesion angulated between many small intestinal loops.We performed intestinal adhesiolysis,resection of necrotic intestine,and small bowel anastomosis.CONCLUSION This case highlights that prolonged medical treatment may help improve intestinal salvage after surgical removal of necrotic intestines,and improve patient prognosis.展开更多

In the present study, a light-deprivation (LD) mouse model was made to validate whether it was a more “suitable” animal mode for investigating the pathogenesis of the CSNB1. Compared with controls, the LD mice exhibited a remarkable reduction in the amplitude of the dark-adapted electroretinogram (ERG) b-wave, the Max-ERG b-wave and also the oscillatory potentials (Ops), indicating an abnormal activity of rod bipolar cells in the retina. However, the ERG a-wave was relatively normal in the LD mice, which was quite consistent with what was confirmed in previously reported animal models of the CSNB1 and CSNB patients. Taken together, the LD mouse model showed CSNB1-like negative ERG responses as evidenced by the abnormal b-wave. Our study will provide a potentially useful animal model to decipher the pathogenesis of the CSNB1.展开更多

The prevalence and considerable impact of this disorder call for a better understanding of its pathophysiology to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Though productive animal models and pathophysiological theories have been documented, it is still very far to uncover the complex array of symptoms caused by depression. Moreover, the neural circuitry mechanism underlying behavioral changes in some depression-like behavior animals is still limited. Changes in the neural circuitry of amygdala, dorsal raphe nucleus, ventral tegmental area, hippocampus, locus coeruleus and nucleus accumbens are related to depression. However, the interactions between individual neural circuitry of different brain areas, have not yet been fully elucidated. The purpose of the present review is to examine and summarize the current evidence for the pathophysiological mechanism of depression, with a focus on the neural circuitry, and emphasize the necessity and importance of integrating individual neural circuitry in different brain regions to understand depression.展开更多

An earthquake of magnitude M5.7 occurred in Yamutu village,Songyuan City,Jilin Province,NE China(45°16′12″N/124°42′35″E)on May 28,2018,with a focal depth of 13 km.The epicenter is located at the intersec...An earthquake of magnitude M5.7 occurred in Yamutu village,Songyuan City,Jilin Province,NE China(45°16′12″N/124°42′35″E)on May 28,2018,with a focal depth of 13 km.The epicenter is located at the intersection of the Fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault,Second Songhua River Fault and Fuyu North Fault which lies northwest of TanchengLujiang Fault(Tan-Lu Fault).The earthquake-induced widespread liquefaction structures and ground surface fissures within 3 km from the epicenter,caused serious disasters to the local surroundings.The visible liquefied structures include sand volcanoes,liquefied sand mounds,sand dikes and sand sills.Sand volcanoes can be divided into sand volcano with a crater,sand volcano without a crater and water volcano(no sand).Other soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS)induced by the earthquake include deformation lamination,load and flame structures,deformation folds,dish structures,convolute bedding and water-escape structures.The formation process of the sand volcanoes comprises three stages:(1)building up excess pore-fluid pressure in the liquefied layer,(2)cracking of the low-permeable overlying layer,and(3)mixture of sand-water venting out of the ground surface.During the upward movement,the liquefied sand is injected into the low-permeable layer to form sand veins,sand sills and various types of deformation structures.Vertical distribution of seismic liquefaction structure can be divided into four zones:the thoroughly liquefied zone,the lower liquefied zone with SSDS,the upper liquefied zone with SSDS,and the ground surface liquefied zone.The liquefaction occurred at a burial depth of 2–5 m,and the thickness of liquefied sand is 2 m.NE-SW(35°–215°)trending compressive stress is possibly the seismogenic trigger of the Songyuan M5.7 earthquake that caused the fault(Fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault)to reactivate.The study of the Songyuan seismic liquefaction structures gives insight into the prediction of modern earthquakes and disasterprone areas.Meanwhile it provides abundant basic material for studying earthquake-induced SSDS in both ancient and modern sediments.The research is obviously of great significance to reveal that the northern Tan-Lu Fault has entered a stage of active seismic activity since the twenty-first century.展开更多

The aim of this study was to investigate adjuvant radiother...Background:The co-existence of myasthenia gravis (MG) and thymoma makes the surgical treatment more complicated and adjuvant radiation more controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate adjuvant radiotherapy for thymoma with MG after extended thymectomy.Methods:A total of 181 patients with both MG and thymoma were recruited between 2003 and 2014 at Tongren Hospital, China. Among all the patients, 157 patients received radiation therapy after surgery (Group A); whereas the other 24 patients did not receive radiation therapy (Group B). According to the time that patients started mediastinal radiation therapy, we subdivided the 157 patients in Group A into subgroups (1-month subgroup, n = 98; 2-month subgroup, n = 7; and 3-month subgroup, n = 52). We then compared the effect of the mediastinal radiation therapy across these different groups using the survival rate, the rate of postoperative myasthenic crisis, and the complete stable remission (CSR) rate as the primary endpoints.Results:There was a significant difference in the occurrence of postoperative myasthenic crisis between 1-month subgroup and Group B (χ2 = 4.631, P = 0.031). The rates of reaching CSR were 32.6% in 1-month subgroup, 25% in 3-month subgroup, and 22.7% in Group B, respectively. The overall survival rates of 1-month subgroup, 3-month subgroup, and Group B were 88.8%, 83.3%, and 77.3%, respectively. Analysis on the Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated that within 8 years after surgery, there was no significant difference in aspects of overall survival and disease-free survival between 1-month subgroup and Group B, and between 3-month subgroup and Group B; over 8 years after surgery, the disease-free survival rates in 1-month subgroup, 3-month subgroup and Group B were 79.4%, 70.6%, and 55.3%, respectively.Conclusions:Adjuvant radiation within 1 month after extended thymectomy may be helpful in controlling postoperative MG, such as decreasing the possibility of postoperative myasthenic crisis, and raising cumulative probabilities of reaching CSR.展开更多

The present study aimed to characterize the glycine-dependent inactivation of NMDARs and to explore its pathophysiological significance. Methods Primary hippocampal cell cultures from embryonic days 17-18 rats were treated with NMDA or NMDA plus glycine. Patch-clamp recording and intracellular Ca 2+ imaging were performed to test the effects of glycine on NMDA-activated currents and increase of intracellular free Ca 2+ respectively. Immunofluorescence staining was conducted to examine NR1 internalization. Cell damage was tested with MTT method and lactate dehydrogenase leakage. Results Glycine reduced the peak current and Ca 2+ influx elicited by NMDA application at concentrations ≥300 μmol/L. This is a novel suppressive influence of glycine on NMDAR function, since it occurs via the NMDAR glycine-binding site, in contrast to the classic suppression, which occurs through the binding of glycine to glycine receptors. The level of membrane NMDARs was measured to evaluate whether internalization was involved. Immunohistochemical labeling showed that incubation with high concentrations of NMDA plus glycine did not change the expression of NMDARs on the cell surface when compared to the expression without glycine; hence the possibility of NMDAR internalization primed by glycine binding was excluded. Conclusion In summary, the novel suppressive effect of glycine on NMDARs was mediated via binding to the glycine site of the NMDAR and not by activation of the strychnine-sensitive glycine-receptor-gated chloride channel or by the internalization of NMDARs. The inhibitory influence of glycine on NMDARs adds a new insight to our knowledge of the complexity of synaptic transmission.展开更多

Moreover, the neural circuitry mechanism underlying behavioral changes in some depression-like behavior animals is still limited. Changes in the neural circuitry of amygdala, dorsal raphe nucleus, ventral tegmental area, hippocampus, locus coeruleus and nucleus accumbens are related to depression. However, the interactions between individual neural circuitry of different brain areas, have not yet been fully elucidated. The purpose of the present review is to examine and summarize the current evidence for the pathophysiological mechanism of depression, with a focus on the neural circuitry, and emphasize the necessity and importance of integrating individual neural circuitry in different brain regions to understand depression.

文摘Grooming,as an evolutionarily conserved repetitive behavior,is common in various animals,including humans,and serves essential functions including,but not limited to,hygiene maintenance,thermoregulation,de-arousal,stress reduction,and social behaviors.In rodents,grooming involves a patterned and sequenced structure,known as the syntactic chain with four phases that comprise repeated stereotyped movements happening in a cephalocaudal progression style,beginning from the nose to the face,to the head,and finally ending with body licking.The context-dependent occurrence of grooming behavior indicates its adaptive significance.This review briefly summarizes the neural substrates responsible for rodent grooming behavior and explores its relevance in rodent models of neuropsychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative diseases with aberrant grooming phenotypes.We further emphasize the utility of rodent grooming as a reliable measure of repetitive behavior in neuropsychiatric models,holding promise for translational psychiatry.Herein,we mainly focus on rodent self-grooming.Allogrooming(grooming being applied on one animal by its conspecifics via licking or carefully nibbling)and heterogrooming(a form of grooming behavior directing towards another animal,which occurs in other contexts,such as maternal,sexual,aggressive,or social behaviors)are not covered due to space constraints.

文摘An earthquake of magnitude M5.7 occurred in Yamutu village,Songyuan City,Jilin Province,NE China(45°16′12″N/124°42′35″E)on May 28,2018,with a focal depth of 13 km.The epicenter is located at the intersection of the Fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault,Second Songhua River Fault and Fuyu North Fault which lies northwest of TanchengLujiang Fault(Tan-Lu Fault).The earthquake-induced widespread liquefaction structures and ground surface fissures within 3 km from the epicenter,caused serious disasters to the local surroundings.The visible liquefied structures include sand volcanoes,liquefied sand mounds,sand dikes and sand sills.Sand volcanoes can be divided into sand volcano with a crater,sand volcano without a crater and water volcano(no sand).Other soft-sediment deformation structures(SSDS)induced by the earthquake include deformation lamination,load and flame structures,deformation folds,dish structures,convolute bedding and water-escape structures.The formation process of the sand volcanoes comprises three stages:(1)building up excess pore-fluid pressure in the liquefied layer,(2)cracking of the low-permeable overlying layer,and(3)mixture of sand-water venting out of the ground surface.During the upward movement,the liquefied sand is injected into the low-permeable layer to form sand veins,sand sills and various types of deformation structures.Vertical distribution of seismic liquefaction structure can be divided into four zones:the thoroughly liquefied zone,the lower liquefied zone with SSDS,the upper liquefied zone with SSDS,and the ground surface liquefied zone.The liquefaction occurred at a burial depth of 2–5 m,and the thickness of liquefied sand is 2 m.NE-SW(35°–215°)trending compressive stress is possibly the seismogenic trigger of the Songyuan M5.7 earthquake that caused the fault(Fuyu/Songyuan-Zhaodong Fault)to reactivate.The study of the Songyuan seismic liquefaction structures gives insight into the prediction of modern earthquakes and disasterprone areas.Meanwhile it provides abundant basic material for studying earthquake-induced SSDS in both ancient and modern sediments.The research is obviously of great significance to reveal that the northern Tan-Lu Fault has entered a stage of active seismic activity since the twenty-first century.
文摘Background:The co-existence of myasthenia gravis (MG) and thymoma makes the surgical treatment more complicated and adjuvant radiation more controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate adjuvant radiotherapy for thymoma with MG after extended thymectomy.Methods:A total of 181 patients with both MG and thymoma were recruited between 2003 and 2014 at Tongren Hospital, China. Among all the patients, 157 patients received radiation therapy after surgery (Group A); whereas the other 24 patients did not receive radiation therapy (Group B). According to the time that patients started mediastinal radiation therapy, we subdivided the 157 patients in Group A into subgroups (1-month subgroup, n = 98; 2-month subgroup, n = 7; and 3-month subgroup, n = 52). We then compared the effect of the mediastinal radiation therapy across these different groups using the survival rate, the rate of postoperative myasthenic crisis, and the complete stable remission (CSR) rate as the primary endpoints.Results:There was a significant difference in the occurrence of postoperative myasthenic crisis between 1-month subgroup and Group B (χ2 = 4.631, P = 0.031). The rates of reaching CSR were 32.6% in 1-month subgroup, 25% in 3-month subgroup, and 22.7% in Group B, respectively. The overall survival rates of 1-month subgroup, 3-month subgroup, and Group B were 88.8%, 83.3%, and 77.3%, respectively. Analysis on the Kaplan-Meier survival curves demonstrated that within 8 years after surgery, there was no significant difference in aspects of overall survival and disease-free survival between 1-month subgroup and Group B, and between 3-month subgroup and Group B; over 8 years after surgery, the disease-free survival rates in 1-month subgroup, 3-month subgroup and Group B were 79.4%, 70.6%, and 55.3%, respectively.Conclusions:Adjuvant radiation within 1 month after extended thymectomy may be helpful in controlling postoperative MG, such as decreasing the possibility of postoperative myasthenic crisis, and raising cumulative probabilities of reaching CSR.

文摘Objective Glycine acts as a co-agonist for the activation of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDARs) by binding to glycine sites, thus potentiating glutamate-elicited responses and inhibiting NMDAR desensitization in a dose-dependent manner. The present study aimed to characterize the glycine-dependent inactivation of NMDARs and to explore its pathophysiological significance. Methods Primary hippocampal cell cultures from embryonic days 17-18 rats were treated with NMDA or NMDA plus glycine. Patch-clamp recording and intracellular Ca 2+ imaging were performed to test the effects of glycine on NMDA-activated currents and increase of intracellular free Ca 2+ respectively. Immunofluorescence staining was conducted to examine NR1 internalization. Cell damage was tested with MTT method and lactate dehydrogenase leakage. Results Glycine reduced the peak current and Ca 2+ influx elicited by NMDA application at concentrations ≥300 μmol/L. This is a novel suppressive influence of glycine on NMDAR function, since it occurs via the NMDAR glycine-binding site, in contrast to the classic suppression, which occurs through the binding of glycine to glycine receptors. The level of membrane NMDARs was measured to evaluate whether internalization was involved. Immunohistochemical labeling showed that incubation with high concentrations of NMDA plus glycine did not change the expression of NMDARs on the cell surface when compared to the expression without glycine; hence the possibility of NMDAR internalization primed by glycine binding was excluded. Conclusion In summary, the novel suppressive effect of glycine on NMDARs was mediated via binding to the glycine site of the NMDAR and not by activation of the strychnine-sensitive glycine-receptor-gated chloride channel or by the internalization of NMDARs. The inhibitory influence of glycine on NMDARs adds a new insight to our knowledge of the complexity of synaptic transmission.
