Purpose: To design an efficient high-performance algorithm for semantic annotation of biodiversity documents in Chinese.Design/methodology/approach: Data set consists of 1,000 randomly selected documents from Flora of China. Comparative evaluation of the proposed approach with the Na ve Bayes algorithm have been developed before for the same purpose.Findings: Experimental results show that the heuristics based algorithm outperformed the Na ve Bayes algorithm. The use of leading words helped improving the annotation performance while prioritizing rule application based on their weights had no significant impact on algorithm performance.Research limitations: The ICTCLAS was used to identify word boundaries off-shelf without optimatization for biodiversity domain. This may have not made the best use of the tool.Practical implications & Originality/value: The performance of heuristics based approach, enhanced by leading words analysis, reached an F value of 0.9216, which is sufficiently accurate for practical use. 展开更多

Emissions from mobile sources and stationary sources contribute to atmospheric pollution in China, and its components, which include ultrafine particles(UFPs),volatile organic compounds(VOCs),and other reactive gases, such as NH3and NOx,are the most harmful to human health.China has released various regulations and standards to address pollution from mobile and stationary sources. Thus,it is urgent to develop online monitoring technology for atmospheric pollution source emissions. This study provides an overview of the main progress in mobile and stationary source monitoring technology in China and describes the comprehensive application of some typical instruments in vital areas in recent years. These instruments have been applied to monitor emissions from motor vehicles, ships, airports, the chemical industry, and electric power generation. Not only has the level of atmospheric environment monitoring technology and equipment been improving, but relevant regulations and standards have also been constantly updated.Meanwhile, the developed instruments can provide scientific assistance for the successful implementation of regulations.According to the potential problem areas in atmospheric pollution in China, some research hotspots and future trends of atmospheric online monitoring technology are summarized.Furthermore, more advanced atmospheric online monitoring technology will contribute to a comprehensive understanding of atmospheric pollution and improve environmental monitoring capacity. 展开更多

The CFD-DEM model was developed to simulate solid exchange behavior between two half beds in a bench-scale two-dimensional dual-leg fluidized bed (DL-FB). Power spectrum density (PSD) analysis was applied to obtain the dominant frequency (F) of the simulated differential particle number (APLR) between the two half beds. Effects of fluidization velocity (u) and bed material inventory (H) on the solid exchange behavior were studied using the CFD-DEM model. Not only snapshots of the simulated particle flow patterns using the OpenGL code but also the dominant frequency of APLR was similar to the experimental results. The simulation results show that higher fluidization velocity assists the exchange of more particles between the two half beds, but the dispersion of clusters on the bed surface into single particles decreases the cluster exchange frequency. A greater bed material inventory results in more intense cluster exchange. The cluster exchange frequency decreases with an increase of the bed material inventory. 展开更多
