Epidemiological studies indicate a strong correlation between various types of human cancer and dietary factors,whereas the specific mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated.Epigenetic alterations,such as DNA methylat...Epidemiological studies indicate a strong correlation between various types of human cancer and dietary factors,whereas the specific mechanisms remain to be fully elucidated.Epigenetic alterations,such as DNA methylation,histone modifications,and noncoding RNA,are influenced by dietary components,especially phytochemicals and nutrients that participate in one-carbon metabolism.These alterations significantly impact cancer occurrence and progression.Consequently,epigenetic pathways may mediate the effects of diet on cancer risk.This review synthesizes the current information regarding the association of epigenetic alterations with cancer initiation and development,as well as the mechanisms by which diet exerts its influence on these changes.The goal of this minireview is to enhance the understanding of the roles of diet on epigenetic alterations to improve cancer prevention and treatment through diet.展开更多
BACKGROUND Primary spinal cord(PSC)glioblastoma(GB)is an extremely rare but fatal primary tumor of the central nervous system and associated with a poor prognosis.While typical tumor imaging features are generally eas...BACKGROUND Primary spinal cord(PSC)glioblastoma(GB)is an extremely rare but fatal primary tumor of the central nervous system and associated with a poor prognosis.While typical tumor imaging features are generally easy to recognize,glioblastoma multiforme can have a wide range of imaging findings.Atypical GB is often misdiagnosed,which usually delays the optimal time for treatment.In this article,we discuss a clinical case of pathologically confirmed PSC GB under the guise of benign tumor imaging findings,as well as the most recent literature pertaining to PSC GB.CASE SUMMARY A 70-year-old female complained of limb weakness lasting more than 20 d.Irregular masses were observed inside and outside the left foramina of the spinal canal at C7-T1 on medical imaging.Based on the imaging features,radiologists diagnosed the patient with schwannoma.Tumor resection was performed under general anesthesia.The final histopathological findings revealed a final diagnosis of PSC GB,world health organization Grade IV.The patient subsequently underwent a 4-wk course of radiotherapy(60 Gy in 20 fractions)combined with temozolomide chemotherapy.The patient was alive at the time of submission of this manuscript.CONCLUSION Atypical GB presented unusual imaging findings,which led to misdiagnosis.Therefore,a complete recognition of imaging signs may facilitate early accurate diagnosis.展开更多
Soft magnetic Co-based Co-Y-Nb-B bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)without Fe have been developed by micro-alloying Y and Nb into a C075B25 alloy.First,addition of 3^at.%Y promotes the occurrence of glass transition and incr...Soft magnetic Co-based Co-Y-Nb-B bulk metallic glasses(BMGs)without Fe have been developed by micro-alloying Y and Nb into a C075B25 alloy.First,addition of 3^at.%Y promotes the occurrence of glass transition and increases the supercooled liquid stability and magnetic softness.C0_(71.5)Y_(35)B_(25) metallic glass possesses a large supercooled liquid region(△T_(x))of 33 K and low coercivity(H_(c))of l.5 A/m.Subsequent alloying 2-4 at.% Nb into C0_(71.5)Y_(35)B_(25) alloy further enlarges △T_(x) to 50 K,lowers H_(c) to 0.9 A/m,and enables the formation of BMGs with a critical sample diameter up to 2.0 mm.The alloying Nb causes the formation of complex(Co,Nb,Y)_(23)B_(6) competing phase during crystallization and widens the melt undercooling during solidification,which improves the supercooled liquid stability and glass-forming ability,respectively.Co-Y-Nb-B BMGs also exhibit good soft magnetic and mechanical properties,i.e.,lowH_(c)of 0.9-1.2 A/m,relatively high saturation magnetic flux density of 0.36-0.57 T,high yielding strength of 3877-3930 MPa with plastic strain of 0.2%-0.3%,and high Vickers hardness of 1156-1201.The developed soft magnetic Co-based BMGs are promising for applications as structural and functional materials.展开更多
