To determine the grid resolutions of the WRF model in the typhoon simulation,some sensitivity analysis of horizontal and vertical resolutions in different conditions has been carried out.Different horizontal resolutio...To determine the grid resolutions of the WRF model in the typhoon simulation,some sensitivity analysis of horizontal and vertical resolutions in different conditions has been carried out.Different horizontal resolutions(5,10,20,30 km),nesting grids(15 and 5 km),different vertical resolutions(35-layers,28-layers,20-layers)and different top maximum pressures(1 000,2 000,3 500,5 000 Pa)had been used in the mesoscale numerical model WRF to simulate the Typhoon Kai-tak.The simulation results of typhoon track,wind speed and sea level pressure at different horizontal and vertical resolutions have been compared and analyzed.The horizontal and vertical resolutions of the model have limited effect on the simulation effect of the typhoon track.Different horizontal and vertical resolutions have obvious effects on typhoon strength(defined by wind speed)and intensity(defined by sea level pressure,SLP),especially for sea level pressure.The typhoon intensity simulated by the high-resolution model is closer to the real situation and the nesting grids can improve computational accuracy and efficiency.The simulation results affected by vertical resolution using 35-layers is better than the simulation results using 20-layers and 28-layers simulations.Through comparison and analysis,the horizontal and vertical resolutions of WRF model are finally determined as follows:the two-way nesting grid of 15 and 5 km is comprehensively determined,and the vertical layers is 35-layers,the top maximum pressure is 2 000 Pa.展开更多
We compared subgroup differences in COVID-19 case and mortality and investigated factors associated with case and mortality rate(MR)measured at the county level in Mississippi.Findings were based on data published by ...We compared subgroup differences in COVID-19 case and mortality and investigated factors associated with case and mortality rate(MR)measured at the county level in Mississippi.Findings were based on data published by the Mississippi State Department of Health between March 11 and July 16,2020.The COVID-19 case rate and case fatality rate(CFR)differed by gender and race,while MR only differed by race.Residents aged 80 years or older and those who live in a non-metro area had a higher case rate,CFR,and MR.After controlling for selected factors,researchers found that the percent of residents who are obese,low income,or with certain chronic conditions were associated with the county COVID-19 case rate,CFR,and/or MR,though some were negatively related.The findings may help the state to identify counties with higher COVID-19 case rate,CFR,and MR based on county demographics and the degree of its chronic conditions.展开更多
This study presents a robustness optimization method for rapid prototyping(RP)of functional artifacts based on visualized computing digital twins(VCDT).A generalized multiobjective robustness optimization model for RP...This study presents a robustness optimization method for rapid prototyping(RP)of functional artifacts based on visualized computing digital twins(VCDT).A generalized multiobjective robustness optimization model for RP of scheme design prototype was first built,where thermal,structural,and multidisciplinary knowledge could be integrated for visualization.To implement visualized computing,the membership function of fuzzy decision-making was optimized using a genetic algorithm.Transient thermodynamic,structural statics,and flow field analyses were conducted,especially for glass fiber composite materials,which have the characteristics of high strength,corrosion resistance,temperature resistance,dimensional stability,and electrical insulation.An electrothermal experiment was performed by measuring the temperature and changes in temperature during RP.Infrared thermographs were obtained using thermal field measurements to determine the temperature distribution.A numerical analysis of a lightweight ribbed ergonomic artifact is presented to illustrate the VCDT.Moreover,manufacturability was verified based on a thermal-solid coupled finite element analysis.The physical experiment and practice proved that the proposed VCDT provided a robust design paradigm for a layered RP between the steady balance of electrothermal regulation and manufacturing efficacy under hybrid uncertainties.展开更多
The burial depth of the metamorphic buried hill of the Bozhong sag is more than 4500 m,however,the controlling factors of the reservoirs are not clear.Based on cores and sidewall cores obtained from 15 wells,this pape...The burial depth of the metamorphic buried hill of the Bozhong sag is more than 4500 m,however,the controlling factors of the reservoirs are not clear.Based on cores and sidewall cores obtained from 15 wells,this paper describes the reservoir characteristics and discussed their controlling factors.The metamorphic basement of the Bozhong sag consists of metamorphic granite,migmatitic granite and gneiss.These felsic rocks are more likely to develop fractures,thereby improving the reservoir properties.The Indosinian,Yanshanian and Himalayan tectonic events greatly reformed the Bozhong 19-6 metamorphic buried hill,forming a large scale fracture system.Weathering and deep thermal fluid contributed to the development of dissolved pores of the reservoirs.In general,controlled by lithology,tectonics,weathering and deep thermal fluid,the reservoir pattern of the metamorphic buried hill of the Bozhong 19-6 structure was established.展开更多
User profiling by inferring user personality traits,such as age and gender,plays an increasingly important role in many real-world applications.Most existing methods for user profiling either use only one type of data...User profiling by inferring user personality traits,such as age and gender,plays an increasingly important role in many real-world applications.Most existing methods for user profiling either use only one type of data or ignore handling the noisy information of data.Moreover,they usually consider this problem from only one perspective.In this paper,we propose a joint user profiling model with hierarchical attention networks(JUHA)to learn informative user representations for user profiling.Our JUHA method does user profiling based on both inner-user and inter-user features.We explore inner-user features from user behaviors(e.g.,purchased items and posted blogs),and inter-user features from a user-user graph(where similar users could be connected to each other).JUHA learns basic sentence and bag representations from multiple separate sources of data(user behaviors)as the first round of data preparation.In this module,convolutional neural networks(CNNs)are introduced to capture word and sentence features of age and gender while the self-attention mechanism is exploited to weaken the noisy data.Following this,we build another bag which contains a user-user graph.Inter-user features are learned from this bag using propagation information between linked users in the graph.To acquire more robust data,inter-user features and other inner-user bag representations are joined into each sentence in the current bag to learn the final bag representation.Subsequently,all of the bag representations are integrated to lean comprehensive user representation by the self-attention mechanism.Our experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms several state-of-the-art methods and improves prediction performance.展开更多
Disruption of morphogenesis,an essential process in organismal development,can lead to disruption of biological processes,reduction in fitness,or even death of an organism.The roles of lethal giant larvae(Lgl)protein ...Disruption of morphogenesis,an essential process in organismal development,can lead to disruption of biological processes,reduction in fitness,or even death of an organism.The roles of lethal giant larvae(Lgl)protein in maintaining tissue organization have been studied extensively in mammals,but little is known about this gene's roles in promoting correct tissue morphogenesis in insects.In this study,we identified an Lgl ortholog in Locusta migratoria.RT-qPCR results revealed that LmLgl was constitutively expressed during third,fourth,and fifth instar nymphs.Furthermore,LmLgl showed highest expression in the ovary followed by wing pads,midgut,hindgut,Malpighian tubules,and foregut of the third-instar nymphs.To examine the role of LmLgl in L.migratoria development,RNA interference was performed during nymphal stages.Silencing of LmLgl increased body size but decreased bodyweight by 9.0%.Histological sections of the midgut revealed abnormal large masses of disordered epithelial cells in dsLmLgl-injected nymphs.In addition,downregulation of LmLgl transcript levels significantly altered the morphological structure in midgut,resulting in the formation of tumor-like structures.Our results indicated that LmLgl may act as a tumor-suppressor gene,which plays an essential role in maintaining a normal morphological structure in the midgut of L.migratoria.Our results also suggest that LmLgl may be explored as a potential target for developing dsRNA-based biological pesticides for managing insect pests.展开更多
