Blautia has attracted attention because of its potential efficacy in ameliorating host energy metabolism and inflammation.This study aims to investigate the influences of Blautia producta D4 on colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium(DSS)and to reveal the underlying mechanisms.Results showed that B.producta D4 intervention significantly relieved body weight loss,and suppressed the elevation of pro-inflammatory cytokines(including interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),and interleukin-1β(IL-1β))and excessive oxidative stress(myeloperoxidease(MPO)activity,superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity,glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity,and malondialdehyde(MDA)level)in colitis mice.Moreover,the concentrations of tight junction proteins(occludin,claudin-1,and ZO-1)related to the intestinal barrier were obviously elevated,and colitis-related TLR4/NF-κB pathway activation was remarkably inhibited after B.producta D4 intervention.The intestinal microbial disorder was evidently ameliorated by increasing the relative abundance of Clostridium sensu stricto 1,Bifidobacterium,GCA-900066225,Enterorhabdus,and reducing the relative abundance of Lachnospiraceae NK4A136 group.In conclusion,oral administration of B.producta D4 could ameliorate DSS-induced colitis by suppressing inflammatory responses,maintaining the intestinal barrier,inhibiting TLR4/NF-κB pathway,and regulating intestinal microbiota balance.These results are conducive to accelerate the development of B.producta D4 as a functional probiotic for colitis. 展开更多

Formic acid(FA),which is obtainable through CO_(2)hydrogenation with green hydrogen or biomass conversion,has been used as a prospective liquid organic hydrogen carrier(LOHC)because of the abundant advantages of renewability,wide availability,stability,and high volumetric capacity(53 g H_(2)/L).The development of highly efficient catalytic systems to achieve enhanced catalytic activity is attractive but still challenging.Herein,ultrafine and highly dispersed PdAu nanoclusters(NCs)anchored on amino-modified reduced graphene oxide(ArGO)were successfully synthesized via a facile impregnation-reduction method and applied as a catalyst toward formic acid dehydrogenation(FAD).Benefiting from the promoting effect of amino groups,the strain and ligand effect in the alloy,and the Mott–Schottky effect between PdAu NCs and ArGO,the resultant PdAu/ArGO affords an ultrahigh activity under visible light irradiation with an exceptional turnover frequency value of 10,699.5 h^(-1)at 298 K without any additives,more than 2.6times improvement than that under dark,which is the highest among all reported catalysts under the same conditions.This study provides a green and convenient strategy for developing more efficient and sustainable FAD catalysts and promotes the effective utilization of FA as a prospective renewable LOHC. 展开更多

Background:The aims of this study were to evaluate the prognostic ability of the neoadjuvant rectal(NAR)score and to develop and validate a nomogram based on the NAR for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC)treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(nCRT).Methods:In total,307 patients,including 230 patients from the primary cohort and 77 from the external cohort,were enrolled across the two centers.The associations of the NAR score with the tumor response,tumor control,and clinicopathological parameters were analyzed.Survival analysis was performed in the primary and external cohorts using Kaplan‒Meier curves.Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to evaluate the prognostic factors.The NAR-based nomogram was developed in the primary cohort and validated in the external cohort using the concordance index(C-index),calibration plots,and decision curve analyses(DCAs).Results:Kaplan‒Meier survival analysis revealed that the disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)of the NAR>16 group were significantly lower than those of the NAR≤16 group(p<0.001).Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified the NAR score as an independent prognostic factor for both DFS(hazard ratio[HR]=2.484,95%confidence interval[CI]:1.159−5.323,p=0.019)and OS(HR=4.633,95%CI:1.076−19.941,p=0.04).Calibration plots and DCAs showed that NARbased nomograms for DFS and OS were consistent and useful in clinical practice.Moreover,the C-indexes of the NAR-based nomograms were better than those of the other variables in both the primary and external cohorts.Conclusion:Our study validates the prognostic role of the NAR score for DFS and OS.The NAR-based nomogram for OS could accurately predict the outcome of LARC patients by stratifying the risk score accordingly. 展开更多

Ultralong ZnO nanocombs have been synthesized on silicon substrates with a high growth rate of~7μm/s using a simple“thermal evaporation and condensation”method promoted by Cu catalysts.The lengths of the ZnO nanocombs range from several millimeters to more than one centimeter and the diameters of the branches are about 300 nm.The growth mechanism of the ultralong nanocombs and the catalytic behavior of the copper are discussed.The nanocombs were readily separated and their applications as optical polarizer and grating were investigated.The results show that the ultralong ZnO nanocombs can act as effective optical components in miniaturized integrated optics systems. 展开更多

Barley beverage contains many natural nutrients which is suitable for lactic acid bacteria(LAB)fermentation.The aim of this study was to explore the influences of Lacticaseibacillus casei 17301 fermentation on the bioactive ingredients,volatile and non-volatile compounds,and physiological properties of barley beverages.Our results showed that the total polyphenols and flavonoids in fermented barley beverages remarkably increased compared to those in unfermented barley beverages.A total of 63 volatile compounds in fermented barley beverages at the different fermentation stages were detected using headspace solid-phase micro-extraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-SPME-GC-MS),including 17 acids,16 ketones,11 aldehydes,and 7 alcohols.Furthermore,untargeted metabolomics analysis-based ultra-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometry(UHPLC-QTOF-MS)revealed L.casei 17301 effectively altered the non-volatile compounds,especially indole-3-lactic acid,in barley beverages.Most importantly,the barley beverage fermented with L.casei 17301 had elevated the antioxidant and lipase inhibition activities compared to the unfermented barley beverage.Collectively,L.casei 17301 could ameliorated the functionality and flavor of the barley beverage and the flavor of the product.These results of this study provide a theoretical basis for the development of Lacticaseibacillus-fermented cereal products with beneficial physiological properties. 展开更多
