GHG emissions mitigation for the global climate changes has been the focus of concern of the world. As the biggest developing country and the second largest country of carbon-emission, China attaches importance to the carbon emission reduction. The major GHG component is carbon dioxide and in China, the emis- sion of carbon dioxide is mainly from industrial production. In the paper, the status and trend of Coz emission from industrial departments, high-carbon emission and its specific industries are shown in statistics. Meanwhile, the policy environment, industrial organization structure and technology of carbon high emission are all discussed based on practical situations in these departments and industries. At the end, through the analysis of gray correlation, correlativity is explored for both fossil energy consumption and total carbon emission, and also for the production value and carbon emission of each industrial sector. Some policy proposals for the establishment of low-carbon industries and transition of economic development pattern are set forth.展开更多

It is also an important research field to explore intrinsic regular pattern of electricity consumption and provide solving approaches. Firstly, this paper studies the relationship between electricity consumption and urbanization via GMM model by stages and regions. The results show that the most obvious stage of urbanization on electricity consumption is the stage between 1992-2000. The residents' income has an evident infl uence on electricity consumption of east region and industry also has generated stronger driving force in central and west regions. Then the paper analyzes the relationship between urbanization and electricity consumption by impulse function and gray correlation, and the variables of urbanization and industrialization both have various positive impulse effect. Estimating the gray correlation, central provinces with high population density and large shares of industry have high correlation degree in urbanization and electricity consumption.展开更多

Because China is the world's leading carbon-emitting country, it is important to study the change trends of embodied CO_2 in Chinese trade to identify key influencing factors. This paper investigates the trade embodied CO_2 in China, with special focus on the production process and materials of each industrial sector from 1990 to 2013. This study was conducted by using an input-output model, which analyzes the specific causes of periodic waves. Our findings suggest that the machine manufacturing sector produced the largest share of emissions, whereas the metal and non-metal sector has the highest emission intensity. Moreover, the total emission quantities in trade increased from 612 to 3331 million tons in 1990 to 2013, a period characterized by decentralized trends in emissions exported to trade partners. We also employed the log-mean Divisia index(LMDI) model to decompose the carbon emissions changes into export structure, export scale, energy structure, and energy intensity, and estimate the influence of these factors at a number of time points. We found that energy intensity curbs emissions increase, and that export scale expansion is the strongest driving force.展开更多
