As an important carrier of cultural communication, film is a typical multimodal discourse. Subtitle translation requires the cooperation of language, image, sound, action and other symbols in order to effectively convey information to the audience. Based on the documentary Beyond the Mountains—Life in Xinjiang, and the theoretical framework of multimodal discourse analysis, this paper explores how the subtitle translation works synergistically, so as to construct a national image and unite the audience’s sense of national identity.展开更多
